Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

Other than the effects on our health and various measures eg. self-distancing rules I just wanna ask what financial aid the various government had provided to common people in relation to unemployment et al. My government has engaged in a couple of bailouts, provided cash injections to multiple businesses in an attempt to reduce unemployment which just hit a new high in May. In addition, each qualified citizen is handed cash equivalent to USD1350 each.

Businesses/People:

- Companies receive 80% of employees wages (up to 2500 quid a month) plus Pension/National insurance contributions - changing at the end of July - if they keep them on
- Similar scheme for self employed but 80% of average profits (capped 7500 p/m)
- Small business grants (10k)
- Small/Medium companies can access loans with Gov paying the interest for 12 months
- Things like payment holidays for mortgages/Credit Card/Loans - 3 months initially, not sure if extended

Few others but just off top of head

We should merge this, NK, Brexit, Trump 1 and Statue threads to really highlight the best bits of humanity.
stick it all in a time capsule and bury it
maybe in 3 months (after the planet burns to the ground), plus 2 million years when the bugs rule the earth, theyll dig it all up and be 'duuuuuuuuude, they were FUCKED up, man'

I dread the tough decisions i'll have to make if Johnson's press conference starts with 'We have found a potato based treatment that cuts the risk of Covid by 75%'

Ternur - get to work on the equivalent of a DNR agreement - 'Do Not Potato-sise me', or something similar.

Well the Belarus president already said they had a potato based product that helps.

So think ternur will be more than happy to be advised to drink more vodka.

Yeah, i went thru his videos a while back.
Suprised he still has all his limbs.
Think the knife-belt is the best one, because its so pointless.
:p

I see the knife belt as an essential tool in maintaining Social Distancing.

Would certainly, post Corona, make getting to the bar a lot easier

Please accept my apologies kuma-san. I didn't want to hurt your feelings. I take it back.

I think i figured out why you dont like potatoes even tho they are so heavenly.
Its just not in a dark lords nature to like angelic things.

If Harry delves deeply enough, he might find out that Kroffe-san is actually the Swedish translation of the name Bartholemew, one of the 12 apostles.

And that the Lord himself had sent Kroffe-san to be reincarnated....in 20th century Sweden.
In the form of a bear, not a human.

Where his mission is to spread the gospel of potatoes and cheese, instead of honey

Oh....and gifs, obviously.

And while on his spiritual crusade which takes him into 21st century world wide web thingy,
he would meet his greatest ally.
A fellow devout advocate of cheese and potatoes, St. Benjamin of Middlesbrough.

It all makes sense now. This coronavirus was just some big fucking ruse to divert us from the biggest truth bomb of all.

That Kroffe, a disciple of God, is the ying to the Lord of Darkness, potato-hating ternur's yang.

I need to have a lie down. This is too much to take in. Especially on a Wednesday.

You'd think, with the amount of hair on show, there would be some curly fries as well.

I miss hair. I might do a Playford later this year. But the metal in me keeps hangin' on to the last strands like a madman. It's not pretty, but I don't really care.

I can always drown my hair sorrows with wine (the one thing church is good for I might add, too bad they don't let me in to have some).

I don't think getting banned is going to bring back your hair, though i could be wrong.

That picture has the odd miracle worker in there, perhaps they can assist?

Last few strands you say.

Always good to put a face to the members.

For every potato you eat you gain one strand of hair.
Leaving the peel on also increases length by 1cm. (still talking about hair)

Well f**k me sideways.

This is a true story. Since I like to think the best of people and love humanity and all, I took it to heart when kuma-san told earlier that potatoes are like these great things. And being somewhat hair challenged, I thought why not do a real life experiment.

So I was walking around the market square some hours ago. The SUn was shining, I was happy, and heading back to home with my 24-pack of beer and a big bag of avocados.

As I was passing by all kinds of food related booths, a nice old lady kind of yelled at me from her booth (scared me, I was not paying attention). She told me they have a special deal. It was closing time, so they had an offer: 2kg of potatoes for 5 euro (compared to 3,90 € per kilo).

So I thought, yeah let's give them spuds a chance. At least they are the new harvest ones. How bad can they be? I mean, I can't remember the last time I ate one.

Happily boiled those beasts (not the whole 2kg, I'm not insane - my mother had me tested) while listening to some great music. And had a beer or two. Everything was ok in the world.

But.

The time came to eat those bastards. I had several, plus some herring and smoked mackarel (since Bambi reminded me of those delicacies).

I'm not sure if I passed out before I finished my plate or right after that. It's all a blur. The tubers from hell knocked me out cold. Bloody hell, what is in these things?! I will not have ANOTHER SPUD AGAIN this year.

The moral of the story: Stick to your guns. And don't belive the hype.

There's something seriously wrong with potatoes.

Hey guys, after a busy day settling down with a late night curry.
Basic rice and a prawn Bhuna with added chilli and home grown coriander! Also 2 left over onion bhaji’s.
Some garlic naans and a pint of soda, ice and blackcurrent.
Bit tired and am up early to get my daughter so description and pic isn’t the best, apologies.
Best wishes and smiles and hope you’ve all well.
Ben

Hey folks, cooked this ages ago but had To assist a good mate with a issue that needed resolving.
It’s homemade potatoes, with peppers and garlic and cooked with a tad of oil.
The chicken is seasoned and topped in a coronation dressing (overly creamy) for me.
And some boring g bread.
it’s far too dry as I left it to attend to urgent matters.
We do have freshly chopped parsley on top however and I’ve just opened a beer.
Hope your well guys and props and cheers to the owner; max and mods for attaining badass status.
Smiles and high fives.
Ben

@Playford7 i think these meals are great. The problem is the photographs.
you Need to improve the angle of your shot and maybe some lighting.
just a suggestion but otherwise I enjoy your posts and glad to see a single dad spending time with his daughter.
Taken on board mate.
Sometimes I’m tired. My daughter has ran me ragged during the day, and it’s a quick picture.
Was only meant in a fun way mate due to many folks locked down with the virus.
As said I had to pop out to help a friend this evening, my meal looked great before I went out..
Sadly sat in the microwave hours then me coming home and posting it doesn’t look Michelin star standard mate.
I don’t proclaim for a second to be some master chef, I’m just a regular guy posting a bit of my meals for fun to the forum.
But I totally agree, my pictures don’t do justice to the culinary masterpieces I produce on a daily basis.
I’m glad you appreciate my talent.

Hey guys.
I Hope you’re all good genuinely.
Just want to say my cooking thread is no more.

Just wanna say cheers to those whom liked it, it was never meant as a serious culinary thread or a thread the gastronomic experts would like, it was only for laughs and giggles.

I meant It for fun during lock down and nothing more, I enjoyed doing it in all honesty.

Anyhow I’ll be bowing out now guys, I wish you all the best of health and a future packed with smiles and merriment and recipes that my superb thread inspired.

Regard
Ben x

I enjoyed it...
hopefully you‘ll still be around the forum.

Ignore that nonsense last night.
Was just having a shitty day.

tonight I’m doing steak in Diane Sauce, real chippy chips and onion rings and some green stuff (salad)

basic fayre but most substantial, thought I had some decent bread but my food ghost clearly has hidden or eaten it (pretty annoyed)

Tonight I’ll be taking photos at a standard akin to David Bellamy.

Steak, chips, rings... fancy home grown green stuff.
Blackcurrent and ice as a beverage.
Must say steak was rare, bleeding like a shot German in the Second World War, cooked great.
Also got a cheesy bread roll for mopping up juices.
One thing that ruined this meal was the lack of salt, salt and pepper and seasoning I use with every meal and it’s upset a lot I’ve no salt...
Will devour this like a T. rex looking for corbyn supporters in super fast time.
All the best fellow members.
Remember #bekind

Love chips and onion rings minus the steak :)

Hungry Jacks in Au have yummy onion rings :D

Well folks! It’s been a hot one, sweating like a .... in a .... .....
can’t say that as the PC police will be at my door faster than a casino closing after a dazza g hit on bonanza!.

Just a curry, some chicken cooked in spices directly from the Punjab, rice bought in a packet from my mate uncle Ben.

Bhaji’s at a good size I’m sure we will all agree, wish my bloody onion bags where similar!

And a naan, a plain and boring naan... very much like listening to that starmer fellow the racist party now how touting there non electable nonsense.

I’ve topped said meal with genuinely home grown coriander (probably mentioned this more times than the bbc have blm)
But it’s fresh and delicious.

To drink is sadly a pint of Coke Zero (girly coke) was in a rush in Sainsbury’s and made a error. So it’ll have to do, i remembered the ice tho...

So curry, rice a naan and a few bhaji’s folks with some caffeine free, flavour free nonsense to wash it down.
( it’s dhansak btw, has lentils and a tad of lemon and pineapple in)

Depends on what recipes you use as to the sauce, my Asian mates gave me this one using both and it’s superb.

Hope the members are well and happy the lion of Downing Street is Opening pubs and the like soon!...
End the nonsense, best wishes.
Ben

This is a good reminder now that many places in Europe are starting loose restrictions. Fear of second wave? The first one has not slowed down yet.
au contraire

The hotspots are the USA and Brazil. What do they have in common?

Don't think we can compare that to Europe or Asia. Sure, we have to be vigilant and move swiftly when a local outbreak is noticed, like in Germany right now in a couple of districts.
