And heres an article from none other than Playboy which should get the anti trump brigade's pulses racing. Horrifying to hear of the speculation of 240,000 deaths potentially in the US. Anybody know of any evidence to support this or is Playboy, Americas version of the UK's Sun newspaper, but racier?

That would put in on par with spanish flu wouldnt it?

I am a little concerned that my boy has had a cough for a couple of days but temperature is fine, it only presents itself at night and he is as crazy as ever. I'm finding it hard to see what is going to happen a week or month down the line and feel very helpless to the situation.

Not quite the Spanish flu numbers yet. I think that one infected about 25% of the entire globe and death toll was in tens of millions.

I was thinking about the first wave before it mutated and killed millions. Of course we are much better prepared. Apparently a lot of the spread of Spanish Flu was down to wartime movements. Social distancing carried out more effectively now and advances in medicine.

It was a very different disease which was killing almost instantly, not many similarities i have been reading.

Hopefully this wont mutate. We need more testing kits.

I agree. And hopefully this will not turn anything like the Spanish flu. If I remember correctly, the second wave was even worse :eek:

We are all fucked, whatever corona does the impacts afterwards will be x10 worse.

Just glad i dont ha e kids as id fear for their future. 10million americans signing up for benefits, it just cant cope.

When shit hits the fan it be dog eat dog world and the weak will be preyed on in so many different ways.

Hopefully the likes of richard branson who treats his workers and the country like filth is first for a lynching.

Won’t be cooking this evening as not in the mood, instead just want to share a short story that happened today.
Before I tell you, many know my thoughts on muslims and Islam (mods read it before you ban me please)
Anyhow, got my cheques today for tax rebates due.
had my daughter so rather than take her to the bank I had my mother come mind her as she sees her the days i have her usually.
I headed to NatWest in sunny Middlesbrough, to my dismay a massive line...
Anyhow stood in it, the guy in front was a Muslim gent, full Islamic dress.
After a few mins we got speaking, spoke about the virus, food and cooking and what we eat, our kids and situations.
anyhow almost a hour passes, I had to be home as my mother needed to get back home to work and was panicking.
The security guy monitoring the line came to the Muslim gentleman and told him to go to the cashier (was only one on and was taking 20 mins a time to deal with customers)
The Muslim guy infront of me pulled out a yellow pages worth of banking shit he needed to do, then said to the security guard ‘I’ll wait, my brother behind me needs to get back to his daughter, let him go before me’
I tried to refuse as he was there first, but he wouldn’t accept that.
So went paid my cheques in and after leaving the bank I thanked the gentleman whom gave a bit of kindness , he just smiled and said ‘we are all in this together...brother’
Believe me I felt like a loser after my past comments on Islam and Muslims. have all day tbh. So sorry genuinely to any I offended, has made me rethink my thinking.
Anyway enough of me being soft!.. let’s go hunt streamers with spear guns!..

Was more of a experience than a story.
Been waiting ages for those cheques to arrive as need the cash with being laid off due to the virus mate.
Was a pleasant experience, did make me feel lower than a snakes belly, but.. made me think.

I wasn’t going to bother, but the taste after my Dr Pepper in my mouth this morning was abhorrent, they swapped the sugar for some sweetener nonsense as I’ve probably moaned about on a non related thread.
Spoilt it.

Won’t they pay your 80% mate?
Also universal credit pay your first month straight away and it’s about £400 quid now, it’s shite when your used to decent money but better than no d’s and a poke in the eye with a sharp stick drenched in covid-19.
My food posts will return tomorrow mate, burned granted but will return.

not a clue if be laid off or put on 80% I'd snap the 80 all day long but the lack of info not good sign plus only been there 4 months.

really dont want UC too much hassle but we will see. depressing time for all!

Do it online takes 10 mins and hardship payment is almost instant mate.
All face to face appointments cancelled

Things are changing just in this short period of time since I wrote this. 3 new staff infected, 1 death, 2 more confirmed cases on that other floor and 1 new one in ICU. 16 staff still pending and 2 patients pending.

It could be worse like New york city and Chicago..so far no huge upswings but from todays meetings we suspect the next 2-3 weeks to hit Ontario very very hard.

We were really hoping that young people under 40 with no health issues would prove this virus wrong. This is not the case. Young people are dropping and having to be put on breathing machines.

Because we havent been hit as hard as other countries and cities during our conference call we were shown this video today to get our medical staff prepared mentally of what will likely become the same scenario here. This is an ER doctor in real time in the USA.



Since the government still is not imposing full lockdowns. Just stay inside.

Ill be gone for the next few days most likely as I am now on call as we expect things to change very quickly here. So I will be sleeping, working, sleeping, working.

That was via the phone mate. Just apply online, once completed just apply for a hardship. Just under £400 bar, few mates got it.

Sounds almost surreal listening to the doctor in the video, like its from a movie or something.

Great story.

People are people. Capable of good, bad, terrible and amazing - regardless of belief.

He sounds like one of the good ones.

House shared with a couple of Albanian Muslims once. My mates thought i was mad and joked about things i cannot repeat. I learnt a lot from them, heavily family orientated (not ones for 'your mama' jokes) and nice guys who really new how to cook.

Found this interesting. One thing that raises an eyebrow is that we apparently had a herd immunity approach but we are way behind on testing and testing kits. Should we not have been the best prepared due to our tactic?

To confirm herd immunity you need testing. Begs belief that the 'herd immunity' tactic was a cover for being badly prepared.

This article also mentions footballers should take a pay cut in solidarity with NHS workers, and rightly so, but no mention of other trades or job roles such as corporate bankers or economists, politicians etc. At least footballers train hard and sweat to earn. How many politicians can claim they are top of their game in what they do aside from the title?

NHS NIghtingale - The hospital set up in London has been asking for drawings to brighten up the place.

A great idea for parents with bored kids like mine.....

Interesting stuff and a valid point that Australia are going to enter their winter in July/August. Will this be a telling sign of things to come in other parts of the world, when winter hits, i wonder?

Another Trump classic at 09:55. Reckon body language experts love that one.

Lots of questions raised i had been wondering. Like the effects on the balance of worlds economies. Did China want this to occur? Right through to a crazy thought about global social experimentation.

What really sickens me is the political points scoring when everyone should rally together. What hope have we got if our leaders cannot come together for a common cause? We can only wonder and will never know the truth. Like one of the signs said 'take care of each other'.

Trumps funny but scary how clueless he is.

Boris is just a baboon, for all chinas faults they handled it well and quickly, whilst the UK & USA spread it because the countries are run by clowns.

I've never had a issue with a FULL lockdown like China did, for 4 weeks it's harsh but controls it and we go back to normal.

My issue with our lockdown was it was never a lockdown just a part one which does nothing but let it linger and fuck jobs and the economy.

You expect me to sit at home whilst you allow flights from ITALY & SPAIN to land, you allow london transport system to operate with trains jam packed spreading it more than anywhere and you try and force the rest of us to sit on our hands and play nicely?

Fuck this government, they have truly killed people and truly killed the economy.

Well it was more than 4 weeks, more like 2 months!

Besides, it didn't do the trick for the whole of China as they have now cases in other provinces.
 
In Australia NSW people are getting hefty fines if they are not staying at home unless they have to go to work, food or appointments.

People are not allowed to hang out on the street, sit in parks or even sit in your car, police are patrolling everywhere.

There has already been a number of people fined over $1000 for breaking the rules. Our lock down so far is for 3 months and it could go longer maybe 6 months if people are not doing what they supposed to.
