Nurses and doctors supermarket workers etc are risking their lives for the likes of you. They must wonder why they bother really...

You will get ssp if sick from day one.

If you are laid off for now you will get 80 percent of your wage.

Stop whining and stay home.
 
People pissed off after a couple of days ? , I have 76 days to go and will be happy to still be here at the end of it.

They are saying that cov19 testing home testing kits will be available from Boots within a few days.
They will tell if you have the virus or have antibodies showing you have been exposed to it.
Got to be good if you can get them.

I know its a huge scale operation but i heard in the same report that suggested 50% may already be infected that nationwide testing would give us a greater understanding.

In an ideal world these kits would be sent to each address for a census.

Yes, those old people some of whom may have experienced 5 years of living under siege in WW2, on rations of egg powder and basic foodstuffs, no TV, no internet, no NHS and not knowing if next day their house would be gone, relatives killed etc. A few radio channels to listen to and books to read.

And poor Kyle and Kayleigh haven't the mental fortitude to cope with a few weeks at home. My heart bleeds purple piss for them.

Problems affecting the youth today is different for sure, but no less legit.
Maybe they had to go into lifelong debt to get the education they wanted only to find out they cant get any jobs without 10+ experience. Maybe this was caused by earlier generations deciding that being able to support a family and a couple cars on one income was a good idea, maybe that screwed up the economy for Kyle and Kayleigh.

Is it the young or old needing special treatment in this outbreak? :rolleyes:

One does not need to be a snowflake to have poor mental health, it can be caused by a million different things, no matter living conditions,money etc.
 
Could be a massive tool to fight the virus, will be interesting to see if the Oxford Report is correct and loads
of people got it early on and didnt know it..Will give a lot of people reassurance if they are a bit under the weather and want to find out if it was the virus.
It could also release a lot of immune people back into normal life.

Not that it's actually anyone's business but a broken back from a car injury has kept me mostly to working online last several years and as I'm getting older, it gets a little rougher (a sneeze had me taken away on a stretcher - fun times) but been there, done that like bar manager and office manager, then private school headmaster etc then shifted into online work as the body started breaking down

I generally have around 20 tabs open keeping me busy every day. :)
I'm not financially strapped and I enjoy what I do

I dont think social media helps with kids nowadays. Everything is online and out in the open and can you imagine what bullying must be like?

In any case i am trying to bring mine up not to be too image conscious and be proud of their individuality. Hopefully to prepare them. I cant imagine what it must be like if your on the wrong end of the instagram/facebook stick and at school.

Yeah, its different problems, but still problems.
The idea that you cant feel bad or complain because someone else has or had it worse is so wrong.

Like i cant complain about a broken leg because the dude next door has two broken legs?
I cant be sad because my brother died because someone else lost a brother and a sister.
Its not some dick-measuring contest, and only the winner gets to complain/feel etc.

Dont be naive. Most companies are sacking people. Businesses wont even pay the 20%.

I am sure that isn't what was meant . More about people thinking it's ok to go out and about and all the whining because they can't do what they want as they feel like it.
We all have to put up with that .

I actually hate the term snowflake tbh.

The old people we are , amongst others staying in for have been through far worse in their youth to give us our freedom. So now we sit on our couches save them . Not hard.

I know you are happy to stay in bear and examine the fridge contents. :cheerleader:

I have the luxury of working online but it isn't any easier being home.
I've a brother nearly always on death's door I can't risk visiting because of his strapped immune system, a father in lockdown in a nursing home on his last legs, a mother who works full-time in a nursing home can't risk bringing in the virus to patients, and well, it's spring, who wants to sit indoors?
But I do, because it's smart and grossly irreponsible to be out and about if I can avoid doing so.

And yes, there's loads need be out there performing essntial services and I applaud their efforts - it's the irresponsible entitled ones feel the me outweighs the we I struggle with.

I agree. I have stuck up for him in the past but his comments on here seem to be solely to get a reaction and keep himself entertained.

I don't suppose he would care if someone in his family contracted COVID 19 and died, so long as he continued to get paid and could fulfill his Bonanza addiction!
 
I have to say the above nutnut posts (the last 2 only, not his other posts, haha) are right, I am having symptoms again right now and decided to go home after being up all night and tried to being an essential worker go to work, Right now I will not be getting paid unless I actually have the virus.

They actually started getting a little upset with me even though I am telling them it may be a pre-existing condition, Like you not paying people or having a plan really is what the problem is as right now I have no idea what to do.

Assessment centers are only telling you what you already know that you have symptoms, they don't do the test there, you have to go to the hospital to get the test done ONLY after the center, or the health department or your doctor says you need tested which you can't get a hold of any and you need to get tested to see if you will get paid or to even return to work.

So off for the rest of the week which is all my sick days most likely, then have to use vacation next week is the plan right now.

I am sitting here not sure what to do besides feeling so great being treated like garbage and inhumane from my workplace and stressed as I can't get answers or have really any idea what to do in regards to this situation.

I take it we are talking about the UK.

Your right the support is there but sick pay is not what it used to be. At my last place on the cards the sick pay was a reduced amount and not for the first two days. They only paid doctors certified days off. Good luck seeing a doctor for a certificate at the moment and good luck surviving on the sick pay you get from some companies now.

Universal Credit will be flat out but there is support from banks etc if you are credit worthy.

Edit: You can also claim some holiday bill payments. Just contact your utilities and say your struggling.

Sickpay gets paid from first day during this crisis. No need to get a sick line from doctor as surgeries are mainly closed. Many companies are paying full wages to staff off as government is paying most of it.

Also Mortgage companies, Rent etc. are allowing people to defer payments for a few months.
 
Hi all hope everybody is ok. I been really down iam self isolated with the wife for 2 weeks now. Except to the store, and take dog for a walk. Even the parks in Georgina ontario are gated, then find out my mom who has alzheimers, her home in markham ontario. One resident positive for covid 19, now 2 psw workers ,test positive. Can't even see her. She as to eat her meals in her room that is when it really hit me my mom by herself. Life sucks the bag . And when people don't listen or take this shit seriously. I want to punch there face in. People are dying..sorry for the rant.

Most companies will not be bothered about certificates. Most are closed and also fact you are told to self isolate if you have symptoms even if you are not ill would mean it has to be took on trust that you are unwell.

I think people misunderstand the UK system. SSP is now paid from day one, it's paid by the employer and reclaimed from the government by them via the tax system. SSP is only a fall-back IF your employer doesn't pay you sick pay at full rate anyway. You then get the government payment from day 1. No phone call necessary. I understand that to avoid delays you don't need a doc's note now. If you are paid a wage and can't work for other reasons, i.e. the govt. has shut your job down, for example a shop, bar etc. you get 80% of your normal wage up to 30,000 pounds a year paid via your employer which reclaims the money from the government.

I tried calling my bank the last 3 days and still not been able to get through, do you really think it's that easy to claim or get what you want instantly. Boris himself as admitted the system is overwhelmed with new claims right now.

It's ok you don't need to explain yourself to the likes of me. Anyway who actually works in the real world knows full well companies make it impossible to get time off for sick no matter if corona related or other illnesses.

The only ones making it sound easy are either retired or not working as your example is same one we would all face trying to tell work we can not work for whatever reason.

Anyway I'm saying no more on this, least someone other than me is explaining the reality.

Why not go tom Tesco/Asda/Morrison/Aldi/lidl any Pharmaceutical company? They are looking for thousands of new employees to get through this crisis.

And the main reason, I reckon, for staying at home is that coronavirus doesn't survive long being on surfaces, which in simple language means - we stop getting it and spreading it further!

Funny you should mention hallway - cat was making a racket at 07:30 this morning, found a dead mouse in the hall. Obviously brought it in expecting recognition for his first ever mouse kill and everyone was asleep, so huffed off back through the catflap again, leaving the bloody thing.

As for nutsacks, a relaxing way to do it is get the old foot spa from the loft (normally to be found next to the sandwich toaster and Sodastream). Fill it with warm water and whatever soap you like, place it on settee between two firm cushions and lie face-down with your parts hanging into it. Switch on, then relax and watch TV while it does the cleansing. :thumbsup:
