Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

Some article snippets cited on Sky News earlier regarding the disparity of mask-wearing by the sexes, which I can't be bothered to pinpoint at this moment in time

But here is an article stating effectively the same, and that here's a real case of - wait for it -......no I can't.....ok here goes (deep breath)

"Toxic Mask-ulinity"

Very valid questions that are, maybe not being side brushed, but certainly not being gone into with enough scrutiny. Before all this the delays were bad enough when my Dad last year was diagnosed with Lung C - No offence to the fine folks of NHS Northern Ireland but if his case was anything to go by there wasn't some arsing and farting about - not 1, not 2 but 3 plus 'management case review meetings' until he finally got diagnosed and referred on ( won't even go into the fact he turned up for Chemo after a long wait only to have it delayed again as they 'forgot' to give him the steroid treatment that you get just before you start it (complaint into all is still pending).

Yes, the whole thing is 'unprecedented' (up to extent, NHS bodies etc should all be primed - and have planned for, Pandemics as part of their emergency planning protocols - albeit they're normally bureaucratic table top/document exercises) but I can see why folk, especially families, have felt as if they've been let down because all of this.
Well that's the general failings of the NHS laid bare. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Too many people walking around with lanyards around their necks earning 50-100k and not enough actual nurses.

When an NHS IT consultant is earning more than a nurse, you know it's screwed up

CNN videos? I hadn't realized it's Comedy Hour!

I agree it's too soon to celebrate because a second wave, or flare-up however you want to call it, might hit NY State. On the other hand his state was amongst the first and hardest hit and hindsight being 10/10 he could've done better.

No doubt but he signed an executive order to send covid19 tested patients back to the nursing homes, this was well after much media coverage of Italy and their elderly population. Not to mentioned Trump sending him the USNS Comfort Navy Ship for non-covid patients to keep the hospitals free for covid patients. However with a great effort the Army Corp of Engineers decided to make the ship covid19 ready.

Trump also had the Javit center 2500 bed field hospital built for NY in 4 days.

Not sure about the Goya photo-op exactly but my guess it was because there was a boycott by the cancel culture mob because the Goya Ceo went to the Trump round table for the Hispanic Prosperity Initiative executive order signing. Of course the boycott tuned into a buycott.

Begs the question: is the president allowed to endorse a product? I read when Ivanka posted that can of Goya beans on Twitter that it might be illegal for her to do so.

Probably works alright.
Guessing stores dont have to let people in if they dont want aswell, so even if government or police are not enforcing the stores can choose what customers they want in their stores.

Not as simple as that.... all it takes is for a store to refuse a customer who then claims discrimination and they potentially get fined.

Would they really get fined for declining customers not wearing a mask?
Kind of doubt it, since that is not a message the government would want to send.

If they don't let a disabled customer who can't / won't wear a mask access to their store they may well be falling foul of the Disability Discrimination Act. Some disabilities are not visible, such as asthma for example.

Would a store risk somebody claiming to have asthma access despite not wearing a mask?

You would have to ask the stores.

If they get too many people pretending to have a disability (like some seem to be planning) just so they wont have to wear a mask while shopping they will probably have to do something about it.
Pretty scummy thing to do since it will probably cause issues for people who actually have the disability they are pretending to have.

But pretty much the same thing is happening in USA, and they are declining people left and right for not wearing a mask. And if the land of lawsuits can do it, UK can probably do it aswell.

Ocado - the finest purveyors of home shopping wares in the land - tried to pull a stunt earlier too, by not wanting to bring up the aforementioned premium wares up a flight of stairs, as they'd normally always do.

I'm guessing they're hiding behind Corona and some shit, convenient

"Why don't the drivers wear masks and make customers wear masks at the point of exchange?" I quipped to HQ

To which there followed a lot of "errm". Needless to say it wasn't company policy after all, just the driver attempting to pull a fast one by not doing his job

But to get this particular 'specialist in his field' to actually bring the goods up my partner concocted a cunning lie; she said she was pregnant (she isn't - not by me anyway) and soon enough the driver did his delivery

There's a moral for the ages if ever I saw one. Plus I got Ocado HQ on speed-dial

I get restricting orders to not go over their capacity, but they could atleast let me browse the site.
Is it just an online supermarket?

Yes

The restricted access has been there a while to coincide with some worldwide event. Luckily I have the monthly saver membership, who knew that would ever come in useful. I can bypass the riff-raff in an instant

Clearly a violation of ethics rules for any federal employees to endorse any product or service, not sure if T or his daughter not accepting a salary plays a role in it.

Leicester was told 2 weeks, now that turns out to be the same bollocks as we were all told lockdown was just to "flatten the curve" and not to "overwhelm the NHS"

Im a tory voter but I am dismayed at their love of destroying millions of peoples jobs and livelihoods, when its totally unnecessary.

When economic hell comes to us in the next year or too, then we will know what suffering really is.

This is how fecking ludicrous its getting now.

"Wales has banned public transport users from talking on the mobile phone, reading newspapers or consuming food and drink while on the bus or train, as it combats the spread of

.

The government directive also orders passengers not to run for the bus, or run in major transport hubs such as railway stations.

And it says people should travel in 'relative silence' with no 'loud activities' like singing happening on board."

Seriously this country is going MAD!!!

Also several so called experts saying that as the cases had started falling again in Leicester there should have been no need for it to be locked down again in first place.

The whole thing is just a total farce now.

Clearly it's been a farce for a while now, probably since the outbreak, but people were willing to abide by the Government's guidelines in the forlorn hope that through being complicit, and placing our trust in the 'experts', that life would soon return to normal.

Buuut as we're slowly seeing, ministers are a bunch of clueless toffs who think this is a game, and who seemingly pull dates out of a 'Lockdown Hat' either as a dare or more likely, bet

So what slither of trust we had before is seemingly gone, Wrinkles The Clown and his circus troupe couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery

The world really has gone mad, thought the human race would wiped out by a nuclear war, seems that incompetance and apathy are more likely to do the job.Dont know what would have happenned if covid
turned out to be anything like the 1919 spanish flu outbreak, with all our knowledge they best they can come
up with is dont sing on a bus, I give up.

Masks in shops.. fuck all in pubs...
Yeah super idea...
It’s back to normal here, and rightly so...
won’t be a popular comment but as you know I don’t usually give many fucks so I’ll say it...
Massive massive over reaction....
I'd always wondered about the logistics of that, we're told face-coverings are to be made mandatory in 'enclosed spaces', yet how would that affect people who, you know, eat and drink. Unless they had a straw through the mask perhaps?

Well, now I know!

......that our ministers are a bunch of complete useless tits, as opposed to somewhat incompetent tits

Staunch conservative, a little bit right leaning one may utter, also voted Boris and danced the night away as we cancelled Marxism and the threat of it under magic grandpa...

but this response to this cold has been a utter farce and rightly a enquiry was needed.
the alternative however was much much worse.

Enough of this horrible virus, instead I bring you all brothers and sisters some corona cooking!!! Yayyyy the crowds scream!..

It’s buttermilk chicken fillets (good quality from m and s, hidden in my freezer for many a month)
Some fat ass chips that would make Oprah seem skinny!

kind of a slaw but not as hate mayo, so some lettuce and grated carrot, red and green chilli’s and a tad of lemon.

buns fresh from Cooplands (it’s a bakers) that the mother dropped off this morning

Bit of bbq and hot sauce and apple and black currant juice with ice and away we go!..

corona cooking is back!.. and I didn’t Wear a mask!...

All the best folks ;-)

Nice to see some light at the end of the tunnel, with a projected return to some semblance of 'normality'!

Just before the Flu Season
It’s going to be a very interesting Flu season.
As one with a dodgy ticker I get the Flu jab each year I reckon it’s more important than ever to get the jab this year as I know it’s worked for me in the past years and hopefully it will work this season and if it does keep the normal flu away then if I do get symptoms I know to get tested for Covid.

Also interesting to hear two Oxford University statisticians refute the Government's official Covid- related death tolls, citing they've been somewhat inflated to cause a climate of fear.

So if by example someone HAD previously contracted Covid-19, but then succumbed to totally unrelated diseases, it'd be recorded as a Covid fatality!

Whoever knew such a thing was possible
