CM Site blocked by ESET Smart Security

Anyone else experienced this?

Just started happening for me. ESET Smart Security has suddenly decided CM is a dangerous site, with potentially unwanted content, so has blocked the URL, although I am still given the option to ignore the block and continue.

Very suspicious that this has happened a day after the CM awards, n'est ce pas?

Had some strange goings-on with CM earlier today, whereby going on to the site would give me the Blue screen of Death. Windows recovered, and I'd put it down to one of those things.

Re-start and wham, Chrome> CM> freeze> BSoD

Short of panicking that my laptop was bricked, I tried again, this time turning off the old anti-virus in the process. So while I now can peruse CM at will, I shall be probably getting all manner of trojans and spyware installed as I type

Still, a small price to pay to annoy everyone :D

There was a big issue yesterday with MalwareBytes if you had it installed:

You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

ESET does block some casino sites. One that springs to mind is Casino Splendido - it absolutely hates that site for some reason :D

Thank you for bringing this up guys, could be very helpful.

Indeed! :axeman:

I never had any issues. I have windows defender and windows firewall. I also have malware bytes installed and spybot too.

I don't have MalwareBytes installed but thank you for the suggestion.

From some of the other replies, it is looking as if it could just be ESET that is affected.

I have reported back to ESET that they are unfairly blocking CM, but of course I could be a lone voice in the wilderness, as I am guessing there must have been a mass of complaints against CM for that action to be taken.

What really perturbs me is the amount of traffic CM could be losing, as many newbies could take one look at the message, and permanently write off CM, and the invaluable help it offers. :(

I have ESET and blocking CM. very unfairly. This happent to me in a supermarket page i have, and ESET never resolve this problem..

Unblocked!

ESET appears to have removed CM from its list of dangerous sites. Yeah!

I don't know about anyone else, but I was sending them a barrage of reports in favour of CM, to the extent they probably got totally fed up with me.

I hope they don't block me now!

For me is blocked....

It's back again! No problems at all since Feb 1st, including my activity this morning. But....go to log on now and hey.... CM is blocked. I can ignore and continue, but what is going on? Frustrating!

So why use ESET then? If your using programs that block trustworthy sites. That means it is not worth using! I just use windows firewall and windows defender and I also have malware bytes as well. Im on windows 10!

That is a very simplistic view, IMO. The reason ESET flags sites is that they have been reported as potentially dangerous, so somewhere along the line, in the past few weeks, someone has flagged the site to ESET again, which in turn has re-issued the warning.

My gripe is that the false warning appeared to be resolved, but is now back again. Why? Is it possible someone out there - with a grudge - is trying to ruin CM's reputation? The warning appeared for the first time in January, directly after the CM awards were announced, so you do the maths.

I do a lot of streaming, and ESET has been exemplary in protecting my system, so except for this one (admittedly annoying) glitch, personally I think ESET is worth its weight in gold.

I am not a fan of Windows firewall/Windows defender, but if that works for you - great.

Not at all is it a simplistic view. You know what caused the issue, So only way for you not to run into that issue again is to not use it again. Because if it keeps happening, Grudge or not by other members who keep reporting the site. Then that is not your fault and it is not CM's fault either. We are merely users who use this site. If you really do not want to stop using ESET and you dont mind the fact it will happen again.

Then the only option is to actually contact ESET support and ask if they can fully exempt this site from being blocked ever again! And if that fails then if it was me, I would stop using it, it is really that simple. And no that is not simplistic but just simple. That is how it works when we have issues with computers and the internet. We troubleshoot and then we troubleshoot until we know what the cause is, And if there is no way to fix it at our end. Then there is only then a few options left. Which I said which they was above!

Good Luck :)

same prob here. Nod32 - Eset continues blocking my access to CM and every single time I have to "add exception" to open it.
The funny thing is that very often (but not always) the Eset is blocking the site again when I click a "like" on the forum.

I am surprised that anyone uses software that arbitrarily blocks sites like this. Clearly there is some dubious undertakings here. This site is solid as a rock when it comes to hacking, intrusive software etc. They probably don't like the word "casino". I would switch to something else like Mcafee.

I have been in touch with support at ESET - they seem to be clueless and unhelpful.
