ClubWorld-Tom (spam attack. not ClubWorld)

maybe the only way to find out which casino is selling our email addys is to contact each casino youve registered with and inform them you have changed your email address, make up a new email address hotmail/yahoo ect and only give that email to one casino, then if you start getting spam to that email you know who it is, the problem is i must have registered with 100s of casino's so unless someone has time to spare and doesnt mind having 100s of email addresses they could try it

Dear laurie

Phishing Scam Utilising ClubWorlds Brand Name

It has recently come to our attention that a group of Russian spammers are sending out huge volumes of junk mail using our good name in an attempt to obtain personal information.

Please be advised that ClubWorld are not requesting any of our players to re-register their accounts or re-download any software. We would like to assure you that we are continuing business as usual from the same location and the same websites as before.

I would strongly advise against clicking on any of the links or visiting the URLs in these emails as they will certainly lead to viruses or other malware.

If you are in any doubt at all about the validity of any email you have received or if you have any questions or comments please visit our website and use the details there to contact our customer services team.

Kind Regards,

Steve Morgan
Casino Manager

I would say that is legit lauriejim. I received an email with Steve Morgan in the headline but it was coming from a Marty someone. I sent an email back questioning it because the name in the header was different from who was sending it. I received an email a few days later from Marty explaining it so I hope it was legit
Only goes to show you, I thought Tom was the casino manager.

There is a downside to this, I got mine, but my ISP saw it as SPAM:mad: What does this mean?
Well, MANY players at ClubWorld will not get it, and will have no idea what is going on. Only those who actually trawl their spam folders (if they use similar filtering parameters to my ISP), or who have filters turned off (I have mine set to "tag, but don't move to spam", so I can preview them. I find that a considerable portion of what my ISP tags as SPAM is legitimate.

Since the spammers are spamming King Dice, which is Gold VIP Club, and the text of Steve's warning indicates this is Phishing, not simply spam, does this mean that Gold VIP Club itself is simply means to harvest personal information masquerading as a rogue casino?

I have to agree with others, it will take the muscle of operators to convince RTG that this lot are a step too far, even for their lax standards.

Even if RTG did act, Gold VIP Club could simply change to other software with even lower standards, such as Futurebet, or even write their own.

OK, guys, ponder on this. I have not received one scam email about CW in 24 hrs. After sending me 5-6 per day for a week, they have just stopped. I find this interesting in a good sort of way. Wonder what happened?

A majority of them did stop surprisingly. However, I did receive one today but they now changed the name to VIPWorldCasinos, lol.

According to ClubWorld, the issue has been resolved, though I am not quite sure what the exact resolution was - but as before I am 100% certain that ClubWorld had no hand in this and that they were as eager to see this spam stop as all of you were.

Thanks to everyone for sharing the information.

Thanks for the update.

Even if it was semi-ambiguous, I'd really like to know how they fixed this. Maybe they could pass it on so RTG to they can pull Gold VIP Club's license. It's not only hurting CW, it hurts RTG as well....as if they could use any more hurting.

It definately is down to a dull roar...like I said yesterday, only received one yesterday and one today but they changed the name from ClubWorld to VIPWorldCasinos

yes it would be nice to find out how they stopped them. maybe a threat of legal action ?? if thats the case i hope someone gets one more reports it to club world then they can take them to court, sue there asses and send the barstards bankrupt,

i haven received any more, and even the other crap i get from there affiliates seems to have slowed down, wtg club world

The problem is that RTG still think it OK that Gold VIP Club are a fit business to run a casino with their software. This is yet another nudge downward for the integrity of RTG, as instead of pulling the licence, and making Gold VIP Club sit up & take notice, they were happy to let Club World do whatever they did, and get the spammers back to using made up casino names (itself a problem, this is false advertising). Given that Gold VIP Club are NOT merely victims of rogue affiliates in this case, there is even more reason to pull their licence.

I note from early reports that RTG again felt they didn't need a presence at an international industry event, ICEi.

I've updated the thread title to indicate that it's not CW at fault here.

Also worth noting that Gold VIP won the Evil Marketing Award of 2008.

They might be back.

Over the last couple of days I have again been receiving spam using their usual promotional agent "Lauren", except these are inviting me to open a NEW ACCOUNT THERE!!!!

Since I HAVE an account, the ONLY promos "Lauren" should be sending are the regular ones.

It looks VERY legit indeed, but such content surely cannot exist for the use of their affiliates, since it's ONLY use would be as an emailing template, rather than part of an affiliate website.

The subject line on the other one was "The secret to winning".

The subject lines reek of spam, even though the rest of the email looks like a genuine "Lauren" promo, except that it is for the WELCOME bonus, and sent to an EXISTING player (supposedly:rolleyes:).

Now, am I brave enough to try to trace through the links:)

That is BS, if it was genuine, there would be only ONE per player, accident or not, and it would have "sensible" subject lines, and not "spammy" ones.
There should also be NO affiliate tag.

Perhaps support simply looked at the "Lauren" format, and declared it was one of theirs.

I have sent a PM to the rep, so maybe he can shed more light onto this.

It seems to be good for a $100 bonus though:D
