I was looking around if there was a thread on all the Casino ads on TV but I couldn't find one, so here it is. Just a chat to share some thoughts about the best way to advertise a Casino on TV during breaks.

I live in the UK, so I see what I see, and I have no idea how Casino advertising works in other countries, but here are some thoughts.

I've noticed in the last 3 years, there is a focus on "when the fun stops, stop" at the end of the narrative, which didn't exist 4 years ago, so the focus is to show all these Casino are responsible gaming Casinos. Whilst I don't see any ads for Casinos I like, I see often a few strange ones that I would like to hear comments on, what do you think?

1. Foxy Casino with Heather Graham - she is a nice looking woman, not sure they spent that money well, as they could have found someone local, just as beautiful and less expensive. Also, with all the problems their group had with affiliates, they could have used that money to clear some of that up.
Heather and Foxy don't mix and here's why, Heather is American, and Foxy Bingo promote themselves as hard core British, they have all these sayings you could only ever understand if you were from Manchester. So while one half of the commercial is with Heather, the other half dubs a male voicey, with the manchester accent on heather's mouth cause she could never pronounce it correctly. I noticed it as I thought why did her voice change and then I realized no one non-british could ever pull that off. But I don't understand Foxy's stance, I looked on the site and all the Manchester english put me totally off. I think their whole concept is such a miss.

2. Casumo...a Casino? So they get a man doing a 50's news style voiceover on some breaking news. Aliens have landed, but they call themselves Casumos, What do they want? Oh, they want us to play games and have fun.....fair enough. Casumo.....a Casino???? Ok, clearly they want to portray themselves as a totally different Casino, and want people to google it as the ad doesn't really say anything about the Casino except that they may have some relations to aliens. So if Aliens did come to earth, but only wanted us to play at their Casino and have fun that would be fair enough and humanity would have no need for concerns?

Sorry for what appears like rants but I understand the value of having TV adverts for Casinos in the UK, I have done some story boarding myself but would have never thought the above ideas would have gotten through.

Do these adverts speak to you in anyway? Do they make you want to deposit and play at the said Casino and do you think you could win there? If you weren't a Casino player, do you think this could sway you? For me, it's a no

I cannot find the current Casumo ad on youtube, but it's a similar style to all the other ones, but it mentions nothing about the Casino

The Foxy Casino advert is just more feminist trash sweeping the airwaves, ie women are not only capable of taking on men's roles but better, even delving into the emotional aspect of a fox's mental wellbeing and then slipping into the dumb male voice, singing/ dancing stereotype.

Has no relevance to anything gambling-related, isn't funny, and makes me not want to touch them with a bargepole.

The Casumo one I haven't seen but that sounds crap too. The only ones I recall top of my head is the 32Red ancient master telling the guy about his browsing history and doing the whole Mr Myagi/ Pai Mei thing....pointless.

And there's the Ojo ad which though not great, features the guy that plays the villain in just about every show on the planet.

The super Lenny one was mildly amusing, with the bloke singing that silly limerick, and of course he had a mullet which is always a plus

While I don't live in the UK I do get quite a lot of British channels. I really don't like casino ads and don't think they need to be on TV at all. I feel the same way about alcohol ads too (except the Van Damme ones they are cool!). I am a gambler and I do drink but it is annoying having gambling ads and quite a lot of them too shoved in my face every night. This is why I DVR everything so I can fast forward the ads:D

Every time I see a gambling ad I think of the people who are battling gambling addictions and how they feel when tons of ads are on the TV late at night. So I believe strongly that gambling and alcohol related ads ought to be banned. After all they banned cigarette ads years ago and gambling and alcohol destroys just as many lives.

Most gamblers know where to go to get their information on new casinos and such and I think the vast majority of casinos advertised on the telly are bad anyway.

Just my personal opinion.

I agree there are too many gambling commercials knocking about, sometimes you'll see three or four in one ad break

I don't mind as much when in the early hours or way past the proverbial 'watershed', but the bookie type advertizers seem to go into overdrive during any given sporting event, World Cup, Wimbledon etc.

In terms of wit I found the earlier Paddy Power ads better than most, like with the Vuvuzela (that's going back) but are still a bit lacklustre overall.

Was it William Hill that did the whole 'A few lads about town' thing, that was terrible, like it was trying to rip on Lock Stock or The Inbetweeners

Don't knock the Van Damme ads :D It's like a great self-parody in itself. And he did dance like that in Bloodsport (great film!):cool:

Yes, the Van Damme ad was the only good one, so little is said, but such a powerful ad. Yes, I have bought Coors after that, and i don't drink it if the mountains ain't blue.

Ladbrokes also did a sort of Casino ad where they presented different guys who represent the different kind of players they have but nothing sticks in my memory as a good ad. Bet365 digged deep into their pockets and got the ad slots for half time in football games, which is really good but really expensive.

These Casinos waste a lot of good money on these ad productions and the time slots, and I really doubt in brings in enough players to cover it, given that there are ads for at least 3 different Casinos every night. Also, in relation to Australia legalisation, they mention that there was too much Casino advertising everywhere, and people got sick of it, and politicians took note. I doubt that will happen in the UK, gambling is a part of the culture here.

I also noticed new Casino ads popping up, there was LoveIsland Casino, then there was Pink Casino (yes, for the ladies, as they like Pink). The pink caisno ad of course had a woman, right out of the shower, having a flutter on her Ipad with games like Dazzle Me, Princess-something or other, Glitters.....ugh.

By tomorrow, I'll have remembered a good one I saw, there must have been one, and not one of my own

Agreed I do enjoy the Van Damme ads because Claude is funny and yes Bloodsport was awesome:thumbsup: Van Damme was at his best for that Volvo promo though:thumbsup: And personally the gambling ads I hated the most were the extremely bad Betsafe ones.

Partycasino ones, UK again. Sexy lady stomping through a sexy nightclub full of sexy people proclaiming to come join us in Ibiza, not mentioning that fact that the Ibiza promo (like every partycasino promo) is a wagering race, low rollers need not apply, in other words gamble multiple hundreds of thousands a day to "win" a trip to Ibiza.

I work in marketing so these kinds of ads are always interesting to me because i've had to study the broadcast advertisement guidelines so seeing how close they can get before breaking the rules is somewhat of a hobby of mine.

The Ladbrokes ones with the "lads" were very controversial at the time, They tried to make all the gambling situations even so if 2 of the guys had won a bet on their phones, another 2 would lose but shrug and tried to make it sound cool that they enjoyed a gamble but knew it wasn't guaranteed to pay out kind of thing.

Paddy Power were geniuses with their advertisements. The chavs at cheltenham one is one of my go-tos when people ask about viral advertising.

Same with BGO and Verne Troyer.

As an affiliate, I think ALL TV ads for casinos should be banned!

Seriously, most of them are OK - if a little eccentric at times... like the BGO ones with Mini-me!

The only ones I don't like, are those for casinos who don't treat their player or affiliates fairly - I would like to see those casinos wiped of the face of the earth! :D

KK

Mind the Roxy Palace advert with the lassie on the toilet and she exclaims "what a big one" her friend says "excuse me?" And oh very funny it wasn't a big shit she was meaning it was a big win absolutely hilarious

Has to be one of the cringiest ads ever that kind of humour is funny in South Park not in casino ads lol!

Was gonna say, Cassava have a lot of adverts at the moment! I didn't realise foxy was one of theirs until the other day.

Yes, FoxyCasino is just one of the Cassava branches getting a lot of stick for what they've done. Which is probably why they feel they have a need to spend on a b-rated american Hollywood actress and on prime time TV ad slots.

I've read somewhere that all this money could have been used to make amends to all the affiliates they screwed over. Some players might be tempted by the ads, but all it takes is a little bit of research to find out what kind of operation they are.

And to think I had an interview setup at Foxy Casino, before I did my own research. I would have hated working there with those ads, but I guess I might have met Heather

Never had any Casino TV Ads down here. Xenophon's head would explode if there was even a .0000001% chance of an ad making it to air.

UK gambling advertising is seriously out of control i agree with KK it should all be banned.
any evening or nighttime TV is back to back casino, betting and poker adverts, also chances are the program you are watching will also have been sponsored by a gambling site so it has its own extra embedded ads at the beginning, end, before and after every ad break.

Also another thing that annoys me cant remember the casino in question but the advert has two people side by side one playing thunderstruck 2 and the other playing mega moolah, the TS2 guy has a 5 reel wildstorm, and the MM guy has hit the mega jackpot another similar ad shows someone playing burning desire and hitting a 100k spin, showing only the kind of wins 99.99% of players will never ever see.

I think that may the one of the ones I was also thinking of, either that or Supercasino, either way it had the aforementioned 'beautiful people' converging and the voiceover mentioning how everybody was welcome to play there. Which is all very dandy, up until it mentioned the superfluous "All sexualities" line

So Partycasino had sexuality- preference software set up before did they, where people of a certain persuasion couldn't register/ play? Wow that's advanced.

Or could it be that they're jumping on the virtue signalling bandwagon that's doing the rounds, which is completely pointless as one's personal choices have always been irrelevant to online gambling. What a load of pretentious nonsense
