BJ Question

Is the blackjack at Crypto and MG casinos a "true" blackjack game? In other words, are the cards that are dealt as random as they would be in a brick and mortar game? Or is there a way for the software provider to preset the win percentage? The latter seems unlikely, since there is some degree of decision-making involved in blackjack which should theoretically impact the results, but I DO seem to be "luckier" at the Crypto sites than at the MG sites, and both seem to have their fair share of "streakiness".

Any thoughts?

That is the million dollar question that no one can answer for certain!!

It is supposed to be fair and 100% random.

Although a couple of years ago at Ladbrokes (oldMG) I was convinced that the BJ there was not fair. So my opinion is that most sites are fair but I wouldnt say all of them.

Blackjack on Microgaming Casinos is 100% Random.

..and you're saying that because... ?

I wouldn't say BJ is totally random. Unless you think that my 3-8-(Double)-9 against Dealer's 6-3-5-7 repeated twice in a row is totally random... :eek2:

Here's something for you - you are dealt two 8s, against a dealer 6. Split, right?

So you're dealt a five on the first hand, then a ten on the second one. Dealer has a 4 underneath the 6, and hits a 10 to beat both of your hands. (We've all seen something similar to this before). In short, if you had played basic strategy here, you would have lost. If you had simply stayed on your 8s, you would have won.

True, this can happen at a brick and mortar casino. But my question is this - are the next successive cards (5, 10, 10) dealt no matter what my actions are, or would they have changed (eg instead of the next card being a 5 - which would set up a bust out situation - it would be a 10) if I had simply stayed on my two 8s? Was I "destined" to lose no matter what I did - or is this a true BJ game?

Unfortunately it is a true BJ game. I've found that online BJ has many more streaks (good and bad) than a B&M casino. The only difference is when we lose online we're always wondering if they switched the cards depending on how we play our hand. We don't think that in a B&M casino, as it'd be near impossible to stack the decks for a b&m BJ game...;)

This plus the fact that you can't take a single BJ session and try and analyze it. If you started getting 20-30 hands per session as described above with no or a tiny amount of wins on similar hands....then I'd be worried. [edit] Hell, I take that back. Even at a b&m casino I've had sessions where I've lost every single perfect double...10/11 vs. 4/5/6 where the dealers were always giving me small cards and drawing out. When it gets to be that bad, I simply don't double until the cards are running better...sure you won't win as much if you do win the hand, but on the other side of things you won't lose as much either :)[/edit]

Even more similarities from online to B&M casinos is where the cards are falling in such a way that you just can't lose...I for one usually bump the bet up when it's going like that...then it comes to one hand where they give you the "perfect double" as described above, only to take a good chunk of chips.

All in all I would say RTG & MG have fair BJ games. Playtech....well, I trust them about as far as I could throw them..lol

Random?

** Well, there is no way to say for sure anyways. Having been in a B &M Casino for a long time .. I can tell you, sometimes not even b&n games are 'random' anyways. Thing is, it will always nag in the back of your head. The only way you will know, is to infiltrate one of these casinos (or MGS themselves) as a developer, and see for yourself how the whole toot and caboodle is put together. **

You too, Nafanny? lol A few years ago there was nothing anyone could tell me to convince me otherwise. That was the luckiest dealer in the universe. I quit playing it. Now I guess people feel safe with the Viper edition. So I assume it's ok (now), even though I play video poker instead. I've hit a couple royals on MG vp so I'm happy with it. I don't feel like I'm getting raped like I did with their old BJ. Gosh, I remember the sound of that nagging dealer's voice. "Dealer has a ten. Dealer has a ten. Dealer has an ace. Dealer has a ten." AARRGH! Enough already! :D

Oh yeah that voice!!!! Seriously back then on Ladbrokes once I got my 2 cards and the dealer had his upcard I knew whether I would win or not usually. Its like it had a total possible selection of about 100 hands and once I had played it for a few weeks I had seen them all 10 times. The dealer upcard of 6 was the worst as it resulted in a loss for the player nearly all the time, and funny enough when he had a 9 its was usually a hand that the player would win.

And when the dealer had an Ace W/Out blackjack it would frequently bust BTW.

ahh the memories:lolup:

That's a good point. Along those lines, online casinos have been around long enough that you would think there would be some disgruntled ex employee willing to write a book about what really goes on behind the scenes. I bet you every serious on line player would read it!
