After winning some money on sports a couple of months ago, I decided to play a few hands of BlackJack. I am no bonus hunter or anything like that, so when I was offered some deposit bonus I obviously accepted.

I played around for a few days, not betting very much and was happy to cash out 100 GBP in profit.

Anyway, I then found that my Bonus & Winnings had been removed because I hadn't made the wager requirements. I was very angry about this, I can understand them taking the Bonus because I hadn't earnt it but the winnings really annoyed me.

After this, I told them to remove me from their mailing lists so I don't get the hundreds of mails, plus (after some advice from a friend) now decline any Bonus offered - which recently has been quite a few!

Anyway, my question is this. Am I doing the right thing to refuse all their bonuses (the latest was a 500 GBP Gold Status Bonus). I am just a recreational player, but recently I have done pretty well. I only play Blackjack, and don't want to be forced to play any more than I want to.

I would hate to hit my nightly target, then realise I have to wager a further 10,000 GBP - or I lose what I have won!! I only play Blackjack, so the wager requirements are always crazy. But am I doing the right thing here?

It is up to you... if you think the wagering is massively too high, then just play with your own money and try to hit a good streak... If you fancied playing quite a lot of blackjack (or whatever game is allowed) anyway, then you might aswell take the bonus... that's my philoshophy.

Say for instance you took up the £500 bonus offer. What might this entail. £100 deposit with a $500 bonus needs to be wagered 20 times over which might add up to £12,000.

But BJ only contributes 20% towards playthrough. Now your £12,000 target has multiplied 5 times over to £60,000.

That might not phase you, but note that casino bonuses, when played in card and table games usually have a complete set of new rules to follow in how you place bets.

If you haven't already done so, have a good ole read through the General terms and conditions as there might be an extra catch lurking at the bottom.

My advice is: Don't take any bonuses.
They are really of no use to a recreational Blackjack player because of the ridiculously high play-through & other rules you have to watch out for.
If you were a slots player it would be a different story; slots count 100% in wagering and so some bonuses can be beneficial.

Final advise (to everyone):
Before taking ANY bonus be sure to thoroughly read ALL the T&Cs and avoid disappointment later.

What KK said really. If you're just a recreational BJ player, a bonus with silly WR will hardly be of interest to you.

I play slots almost always these days but even I don't take bonuses (except a new player sign-up first deposit match bonus) when offered, and I ask to have them removed immediately from my account if they are added automatically; I can't be arsed with all that play-through nonsense.

You don't need bonuses. In fact, all a casino is doing when offering/giving you a bonus is taking control of your money before you even have a chance to use it. Basically tying your money to the house. Sneaky buggers, don't you think?
