Hey everybody,

I'd love to write my bachelor thesis about the online gambling industry but since I study business science, I need as much figures on market volume / growth, turnover / winnings in different regions etc. as possible.

Unfortunately, most figures I found are offered by consulting networks and I really can't spend hundreds of dollars to order all these reports...

Anyone got an idea?
It's really hard to find reliable figures especially regarding sizes the worldwide market size, potentials etc.

Thanks in advance for your help!

btw: If this is the false fred, I'm sorry, well I didn't know where to post this topic elsewhere.

Hm, I expected some more feedback...
However, I found a good website called "Poker Players Research", so if anyone is also interested in finding some figures... I'll continue posting in this thread ;)

It may come :) Unfortunately over the years we've had a lot of people request information on the same pretext. Generally we request that they post the thesis/conclusions for participants to see and they always say they will, but they never do. This makes a lot of people sceptical about whether it really was for college purposes and there has been a lot of apathy for subsequent requests unfortunately.

The sort of info you are requestion, as you rightly point out, can cost decent money. You can see why people might think posing as a student could be quite effective :D

Possibly a sharing approach might work. One guy who came along and gave us details of the course and thesis and pointed us at the gambling studies website of his lecturer a couple of years back got some results as we could see it was genuine.

Whichever approach, good luck with the thesis anyway.

Well, I see the problem.
Maybe I'll "receive" some more credibility after I posted some first results / conclusions - the main problem while doing this is, that every student has to promise not to let third people help him while working on his or her thesis.

In my opinion, it's more like a research but some professors might think its something like cheating...

By now, I only know that the main point of my thesis will be about the german market after the liberalisation - exploring the good and bad effects on economy, gambling addiction blablabla

I'll keep you all up to date.
If you're speaking german, it's also possible to receive the complete thesis (after I got my grade and published it) for free.

Hi... I cant help you with data, but I would love to see the whole thesis!!!
As I speak German it wouldnt be a problem!

Maybe you can email me when its graded?

As I mentioned above, the thesis will be available FOR SALE.
In order to receive it for free, i expect people to help me out - no more than fair ;)

The price for it will be something like 30, so don't worry, you won't need to sell your house haha :D

Regarding my thesis

I'm currently researching figures on the worldwide turnover / revenues of the online gambling market. I can tell you, this is some really tough work... I have found so many different figures on the same topic I don't know who to believe... even the best consulting networks offer totally different figures regarding the revenues and stuff...

 First it was free, now it's 30. Am I missing something?

"Possible" means I will sent the final result to people that at least gave me some serious feedback. Why should a put all that hard work into my thesis and give it as a present to some consulting guys!?

Regarding my thesis

Just wrote about the various risks for operators that are linked with offering different games... Pari-Mutuel betting? Hell, in Germany we call that stuff "variable" or "live-bets" haha :D

Because I have to investigate the possible consequences of a liberalisation of the german market, I was looking for some more background informations regarding possible scenarios and found this wonderful peace of knowledge:

If my English was a little better, I'd be able to understand more of it.
Gotta improve my language skills.

Amazingly correct grammar from a German with limited English skills. And you're familiar enough with the language to understand slang like 'gotta'.

In American universities there is no such thing as a bachelor's thesis. Do you mean a master's thesis or is it different in Germany?

Here is Hambach and Hambach's website - this is a leading German law firm that specializes in the German gaming industry:

They publish articles - in German - which I'm sure you'll find helpful. They're located in Mnchen - I'm not sure if you're near there, but if so you might be able to set up an interview.

I don't know the exact equivalent for the german bachelor thesis in the US but i think it's comparable to the master thesis - but the whole studies only last 3 years and normally, you won't get a (good) job with it.

Writing and understanding spoken English ain't my problem (I always watch the US-Simpsons because of the bad german translation) but once I have to read "technical" or acadamic publications I'm hitting the wall

Found another cool website,

Hell, almost forget to thank you :D
--> THANK YOU! Might be good help!

Hey folks,

didn't work on my thesis too much last days because of some trouble I had at university... well, I found some more topics to put into my thesis - the german state treaty, the UIGEA and their impacts on operators and of course the general impacts of gambling on economics... So I'm currently doing some research on the positive and negative impacts of different scenarios, e.g. monopolist systems, liberalisation etc.

Just wanted to keep you up to date, I hope to get some things done in the next few weeks.

Happy New Year!

Currently looking for some informations about the incurrence of bonuses... when did they first appear!? At the time I started gambling, first deposit bonuses etc. had already been "normal" so I'm wondering when they first appeared?

Does anyone remember a time when bonuses weren't a regular "must-have" for casinos in order to stay competitive!?

Guess I'm still a rookie ;)

I noticed you had started a new thread, as well as posting in the old one (here). I've merged the two: you don't need a new thread just to make your announcement.
