affiliate shenanigans

the lengths some affiliates go to, a site written and mocked up to look like a (financial) news report complete with shills and BS - funny to us, but I wonder how many people fall for it - enough I guess that it keeps going.
Clearly geo targeted, as keywords like Toronto, Ontario and Canada are replaced elsewhere with Mumbai, India, Norwegian etc etc. Boy that Laura Spender gets around - shes from Toronto, Mumbai et al.
I've removed casino name, links, affy site, redirecting photos etc.
And a CM accredited casino to boot - sure its an affy, but good lords - dont casinos really care?
All the commnets had photos appearing to come from facebook though linked to the casino and aff page.

I know none of this is new - but I'd have thought all these big crackdowns everyone is going through (SoW, Bonus terms) this type of thing would be a big priority

CA Online Casino CEO Fired After A $2,700,00 Mistake

April 20th 2018
If you live in Canada and want to earn some extra money easily, then this may be the most exciting article you'll ever read.

Peter Newsted, the CEO of Casino X, was fired immediately after the mistake was discovered
Trusted online casino operator Casino X has made a costly mistake after launching their online casino in Canada that caused the company to lose hundreds of thousands of pounds to its players.

This glitch has already lost them close to $2,700,000 CAD in free spins and cash prizes and the loss is going to continue to increase until 27th April when their new customer agreement takes effect.

What Exactly Happened?

Ollie Edwards, an experienced casino player from Ontario who was one of the first players to discover the loophole explains,

"Casino Xs new promotional campaign for new customers in Canada was supposed to give 100% of additional free credits to all new customers that deposited at least $10 to their account. Unfortunately for them, they had a wording error in the agreement so each new customer can get up to 150 free spins for a $10 first deposit.

As a result, people are using the free credits and hitting jackpots that is costing Casino X heavily. What is making matters even worse for the company is that there is no way for them to fix it due to the strict gambling laws in Canada which require casino companies to notify at least 7 days in advance before changing their terms and conditions. So getting these bonuses for free is completely legal."

Thousands of Winners

One company's mistake can be incredibly profitable for everyone else. One lucky woman, 28-year-old Laura Spencer from Toronto, registered with Casino X and claimed 150 free slot spins after depositing just $10 and won the progressive jackpot of $75,000.

"I used to dread waking up each morning and going to a job that I hate, all to just be able to cover my rent and bills, now I have so much freedom."
Laura Spencer from Toronto is one of the lucky ones who won the progressive jackpot

New CEO

Casino X CEO in Canada, Peter Newsted was fired immediately after the incident and the new manager Hayden Connor has a lot of fixing to do. Connor responded to our enquiry via email,
"This has been a very unfortunate and costly mistake for the company but we have to learn from it and move on. The Canadian market is very important to us and we are here to stay even after this costly error for the company."

Here is how CAs are claiming their free money:

1. They sign up on the Casino X page

2. They will make a deposit of at least $10 to verify their account and then receive 150 free spins to win money - completely legal!

UPDATE (April 26th):

As of April 26th, the FREE bonus loophole at Casino X is still available.

No need to say who the casino is. It has Casino Rewards written all over it.

Ya, it's nothing new.
What more surpriises me though, is with all that's going on with only the new rules players must follow (and casinos too) why isn't how they handle affiliates much stricter/better enforced?
I think the affiliate managers are starting to crack down. I have met some really good ones this week, and met a rogue one to my dismay. I was so pissed at myself! Rookie Lesson, but a lesson learned. Now I google every affiliate before I approach. Casino Rewards has so many casinos, I think too many! And they lose site on what is important. But back to the beginning of my comment. I was turned down until they see what else and who else I put up by one, another one told me that they really scrutinize before they yes( Could be just words) The best one I have had so far is Joonas from AFFmore. He has been great!
Im curious though, because Casino Rewards Affiliates, don't carry the tools for the kind of marketing and its elaborate, that we have been seeing.

As I understand it, the targteted ads are 3rd party marketers, not the affiliates themselves....however, when marketing at the affiliates' behest, imo, it still falls on the affiliate, and in turn the casinos need to be responsible to shut down affiliates who are willing to employ said marketers.

The funniest fake advert ive seen was for Karamba on Facebook it was a video of some scruffy bint playing Starburst who won X amount something like £10k and started shouted to her boyfriend were off to Benidorm :laugh:

Also I saw an advert a bit like the one you posted but it was something stupid like "Mum's heartbreak at daughter's death"

Half way through the article it started banging on about Sky Vegas I was like wow :eek:

It was so fake but I'm sure loads of people fell for it.

Its media buyers who do these, but no matter what the casino say, they should be checking what is out there with their name on.

Suppose these are better than using cancer as a promotional tool like they were doing. To be fair to Renee, she does get dodgy ads removed and is a very very good affiliate manager.

The UKGC have recently issued big fines for casinos who allow themselves to be marketed in this manner. Unfortunately, this only applies here in the UK, it won't stop the dodgy ads from being used elsewhere. However, all it takes is for a UK resident to see and report one of these ads for the casino to be at risk of a fine. For this to happen, a simple oversight in geotargetting is all it takes. I have seen such ads in the past, even though I am not in the target audience.
As the UKGC issues more fines, we will hopefully see real change as it's been clear for over a decade that money is a much better motivator than morality, and casinos often only alter their behaviour in response to losing money, rather than because it's morally wrong.
Spamming and misleading ads work in that they drive traffic, and thus make the casinos money.
