australian legislation amendments! HELP ME

Such a sad time for 32 Red.... They did give me my biggest win $175k on immortal rapist on a $30 bet and overall they are one of the few MG casinos that i'm actually up on. I tried to make another couple of deposits today n try that Saturday Night game but very short playing time and very low RTP. They have also had ridiculously low bonus match offers since the buyout by UNIBET... not sure if this was only for Aus players or for everyone but 10 - 20% seems to be the norm with 25 and 50% the lucky big ones, no 100% and i'm a club rouge member. Spin Palace (the one i'm down the most on) decided to give me 11k over the weekend on a $75 deposit at the start of the weekend... USD because AUD wasn't available when i first registered the account and there is no mention anywhere of Digimedia pulling out of the AUS market yet (perhaps this was their come back present). Hopefully as one of the previous members mentioned parliament delays it till later this year because I would hate to be filling Packers pockets at Crown (Melbourne) because Aristocrat don't even come close to the same RTP as MG. Hopefully MG make some sort of deal with land based casinos here to use their sub-brand to bring MG games to the casino once all online games are banned or maybe I will just quit gambling for good.

Wow great win mate, yeah overall I would be just up with 32red, biggest win was 4 buck bet, pulled out 6k.
I agree the bonus deposits have been max 10% for me the past few months and I'm (was) gold. Can I ask did you actually receive any thing decent from being a rouge member?
Land based pokes don't come close and hoping something new pops up as those flash casinos don't do it for me.

Between the nicotine ban, heavy videogame censorship and and online gambling 'amendments', living in Australia sounds like a hoot. What a joke, talk about the definition of a Nanny State. Flamin' galahs!

WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

hi can someone post the email from 32red. I have not received. thank you
on what date 32red will stop us from login?

From the correspondance i have had it looks to be the 19th across the board for all brands under TTR Partners

"We are starting to communicate this change to our Australian players, and at midnight (AET) on 19th April their accounts will be closed"

Yeah would be taxes, like grog, smokes. The rip off country. Might just give the punt away, probably not a bad option. Something might pop up though

32Red email

It's from midnight Wednesday 19th April.
One weeks notice.
Soz about the quality, huh 002.webp I didn't know how to attach it here from an email so took a photo.

The Aussie federal government have been dithering about for years on this, having started out in the pioneering days of Internet gambling with a very progressive approach. I don't know why that soured into the present situation, but I'm guessing pressure from the anti-online gambling establishment over the years.

A few years ago the government commissioned a study which recommended regulation and licensing as the best route for player protection (and taxes) but the government - I think that was when Gillard et al were calling the shots in Australia - chose not to act on those suggestions.

In the latest round, late 2015 we had the O'Farrell review, which returned an unfriendly report and recommendations, most of which have been included in the new Interactive Gambling Amendment Act 2017, currently awaiting a vote in the federal legislature.

IMO government's decision has (among other things) been influenced by the influx of foreign bookmaking companies that entered the Oz market and bought up various local companies; their controversial interpretation of in-play betting which kept gambling in the headlines, along with allegedly excessive advertising; and the level of competition which they present for established major Australian betting groups like TABCORP.

That's been exacerbated by the continual opposition and warnings about problem gambling from politicians like Nick Xenophon.

Earlier this month Liberal Democrats senator David Leyonhjelm attempted to soften the IGA bill without success.

My gut feel is that this bill will go through despite the valiant efforts of the Australian Online Poker Alliance to persuade lawmakers not to include online poker.

Online casino gambling appears to be just about permanently excluded in the current picture.

Luckily my birthday was last week, so I managed to sneak in one last lot of 5000 Club Rouge points. :-/

I'm not sure I'll continue playing at other sites even if it's possible. What would happen if you won a 100k+ jackpot at one of those sites? Couldn't they just refuse to pay you because it's illegal to play in Australia? What recourse would you have?

I know what's going to happen in advance.
The more determined players will find a way to deposit and that's going to cause a lot of player issues.
It will essentially become a "blackmarket" where a lot of player protection will be taken away.

I've basically quit at online casinos so this wont effect me much. For determined players my advice would be to keep your eyes open and stay on guard.

Time to change my location as well. ;)

What a joke, talk about the definition of a Nanny State. Flamin' galahs!

WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

In 1994 the government allowed pokies into practically every pub and club in my state.
I doubt there was any investigation into how much harm it would inflict upon people.
I've heard various opinions, but looking into it myself I judge it to be extremely harmful. (I have my reasons.)
The pokies should have been kept how it was; isolated to the capital cities casino.
Because of that, I don't believe the ban on online gambling has anything to do with protecting people (the nanny state.) It's all to do with the cash they think they'll make.

New legislation has passed the senate in australia banning us from all gambling via online casinos and online poker sites.
its really ahrd to get a simple breakdown f what this includes and what it means to the individual player.
i love my online slots and mostly play at videoslots and 32red. does anyone know if they will be pulling out of the australian market?
any info for me -Dan@videoslots and Mark@32red

I found an email that went into my spam folder from 32red stating that midnight on the 19th of April they can no longer service us Australian players, and to withdraw any funds asap. I am looking for a new casino that might accept australian players, but most of them seem to be RTG casinos that are licensed in Central America or the Carribian. I am open to any suggestions for a new secure and reliable casino.

Totally agree
IMO it is 100% ONLY to do with what the Government see as "lost revenue" - nothing more, nothing less.
Instead of taxing it - they try to ban it. Absolutely insane.

KK

The answer is correct in your previous comment before me, its all down to government. They looooveee Revenue always!

That's exactly how it happened in Europe too, once the governments saw how much revenue they were giving away to foreign operators they brought in those licensing reqiurements, asking for % of turnovers, etc.....it shows us no good thing lasts forever, and it was so much more fun 10 years ago. I agree this won't stop Australians from playing, just like it didn't stop the US from playing

When I am not accessing this page via my mobile, I'll find the info again, from the IGA. But its not as bad as it may seem, kind of. Its more a scare tactic , the gamblers are not prosecuted in any way. And the casinos not licenced in aust, still offering services to us, are not in Australia so they might get sent infringements or a summons to court, but they can just ignore it, and the absolute worst outcome is that the company directors name may be highlighted via international migrations and may affect entry into australia for that one person, tagged as the director.
They go on to say the changes are expected to deter aus players and to see some improvement in land based casino revenues, but they know it won't eradicate the problem, and it states they don't believe its able to be successful, with the casinos not having a physical presence in AU's. They will have an updated list of regulated au licensed online casinos that are legal, they haven't gone live with any such list as yet. As far as I could see. Aaaaand it comes into affect 28days after royal assent, its currently in the 'house of reps' which is the last bit before the Royal assent shit. I hope they take as long as they possibly can. Maybe even years and years.

Last night i spent a lot of time (way too long really) reading the entire IGA bill, and the breakdown of each stage as it made its way through the senate. I copied and pasted all the best/worst/interesting parts and of course added my thoughts and so many jokes, like really really funny stuff.
You all would have commented on how informative, yet utterly enjoyable it was to read...
But Alas, I spent so long reading and collating the info, by the time i pressed submit, it said the page had expired and said 'press back and then reload the previous page'.
And I lost it all.... Waaaaaa.

If it's just a scare tactic it may be working as some known online casinos are pulling out and not accepting any players from Australia. I've read through it too and you're right, no penalty to the players and they'll have a tough time going after the operators but some brands will not want to have a bad reputation anywhere, and Australia may be a smaller slice of the pie than it's worth for them. They will also have a harder time getting deposits so this will also put a strain on Customer Service, so I suspect, they will sit back and see how the situation develops.....at the same time, the opportunity this may represent will be very, very tempting, so someone will find a way

it reminds me the taxi and uber in Australia. By the end of day, government has to buy back taxi licence due to competition. I do not know if any aussie online players will go back to local casino or worse pubs... the games at local venue just does not appeal anymore. I remember 20 years ago, during weekends, in local pubs, 90% of machines were occupied at any given time. Now, most time, you see just 2 or 3 players. Nowadays, with all these information from media like youtube, show people that the difference of RTP really means and show people how to check RTP info. We aussies love punt but we also believe in fair go. If I put my money on the line, I have to know, I got a fair chance to win or at least a fair amount of entertainment time.

the problem is that all these big providers like MG, WMS, Novo and maybe netent, they all have some sort of office in syd. The government will force providers to ban aussie players...

Is anyone actually still playing online? I'm worried if I get a big win there will be some loophole, although guts,Trada etc haven't said anything?

Yes I still am playing without any problems - Trada, MrSlot, Slot-Cafe, Ikibu, Cashmio, VideoSlots. The law hasn't been passed yet, so it is still legal AFAIK to offer services to Australia.

I have just received the dreaded email from 32Red regarding closing of my accounts. However this was due to their takeover by Kindred, rather than the forthcoming legislative changes.

One thing I have noticed though: On some of the casino sites, when I log in, is a statement to the effect of: Gambling may not be legal in your jurisdiction...blah blah blah.

So currently - no problems.

In the future? Definitely not happy, Jan.

Other than my free spins at videoslots I haven't been playing either, I'm also worried bout problems that's may arise if I'm cashing out, but I'm going a little stir crazy. Something I'll probably have to get used to.
I had 7sultans call me last night just about a match bonus (even though I have removed myself from all contact except email... And fought with them 3 times a day when they called, finally stopping a few months ago, till now :( again) and they tried to tell me they are licensed in australia? I don't think that's right. But she also had no idea about any of the proposed law changes, she said she would ask someone, and ensure they wouldn't call me again... I'll wait and see.

I don't think you need to have any worries about getting paid by the "big boys" (casinos licenced in the EU) - especially if they are accredited here.
They will not just shut off Australia and steal player's money!

Oh no - would be really great to read that masterpiece - I am lost with all those recent law developments - is there any chance you retrieve it pleaseeeee :) Thanks in advance!!

:(
I have been trying to locate the IGA bill text from the parliament website since thursday, (the same page i was on before) though i keep getting error messages for website maintenance .Capture.webp
i'll keep checking the page and post the info as soon as they'll let me see it again.:)

Does anyone know or recommend any au registered or legit online casinos with slots to play at? Or is this really the end seeing as anything to do with MG or NetEnt seem to be gone?
Not all casinos with MG & NetEnt games have left Aus yet - but it's a virtual certainty that they will by the middle of the year at the latest.

I don't know if the Au government is going to license any online casinos or not, but there are quite a few who are "legit" in my opinion who will carry on taking Australian players as before - but they just wont be the ones with NetEnt & MG games.
I have already started listing these on my new Aus site (link in sig) - if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know!

Welcome to the best gambling forum on the net

Nice page! I think it's very useful, but on the Best Online Casinos page - Vera & John needs to be updated as they are also no longer accepting Australian players.

As far as I know about the Australian Legislation, it refers only to online poker and sports betting, with not much mention of Online Casino but Australia doesn't have a licensing framework for Online Casinos so I doubt any Online Casinos will get a license, since they cannot apply for it, so Australians will be left with the foreign operators....I have my eye on All Australian and Gday and those with an Australian look or theme, but they are both owned by companies who have a license from Malta so their Australian look won't do nothing to help them operate legally

A decade or so ago Australia seemed to embrace online gambling and even had an official casino in Lassetters and another casino whose name I have forgotten. Both of these casinos, being government backed, received precious few complaints from players and personally I found them very fair. So they are now in reverse mode.

Australia

Good day,

In anticipation of changes in the gaming regulations in Australia, the Gibraltar Gaming regulator has requested that we stop accepting players from Australia.

These changes will come into effect at the beginning of May. We will communicate with our customers based on the timetable below.

Australia Plan.webp

From 4 May 2017, our accepted markets will be: UK, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Ireland

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Sorry, I stand corrected, both sites are useful for information but yours is nicer looking, with no white background :)

I suspect once the ban is in place, around June, there will be similar messages to Casinos from their license givers, and the ones that care about having a good reputation will adhere to it.

The real problem Australia is facing is not that there will be no Online Casinos, but that there will be very few legit Casinos that players will know they can trust as they've had their reputation built up over several years. There will probably be some new names, with no info online, and the rogue casinos that will give you problems with your winnings. Online Casino playing will still exist in Australia, but the experience form the players point of view will be less enjoyable

Absolutely right in all respects
In other words, Australian casino players are facing the exact same future that American's went through 10 years ago...

I have decided to leave all online based casino because this government in Australia will causes too much problem to everyone living in Australia. If they close up online casino to Australia all of sudden it will affect our fund in casino. Its very bad move. I am sorry to say but I don't have choice. I have to be careful with money and fund movement. If they close suddenly I lose fund. Very bad business from Australia government, very disappointed to see this happen. 32Red closed my account permanent today as of 19th. I don't have any fund in it but I removed from 32Red software etc. I do not appreciate how this happen. It hurts the customer a lot.

The ACMA (australian communications and media authority) i believe is going to provide a list of legal Australian online wagering sites. i dont know what "wagering" covers, if its just sportbetting or like the horses, or if that means slots/ lotto etc...
this is the text in full-
Based on stakeholder feedback, it was decided that the register of unlicensed and illegal interactive gambling services will be changed to a register listing Australian licensed wagering sites. It was suggested that listing the legal wagering sites will be easier to maintain and will not inadvertently advertise illegal offshore gambling sites that should be avoided. It is important that the proposed new list does not in any way promote gambling and will rely on states and territories working with the ACMA to keep the list up to date. The list will be accompanied with text stating that websites not listed are likely to be illegal offshore gambling services.

anyway i attached the fun stuff if you like to read.... really riveting stuff, i was on the edge of my seat the whole time i was reading it, a real page turner, some might say...
most will not.

Anyone here use Betsafe? I just received an email...

We would like to inform you that we have processed your withdrawal but due to the changes of the policy you will not be able to process with further deposits and gameplay from your account.

When I log in now it says that my account is limited. I'm not sure if this has to do with the legislation or having a decent winning run there. This sucks because it was my go to site for the combination of casino and sports betting. :(

Did you check out CS for the reason? What did they say?

I tried the chat thing a few times earlier, but nobody answered. I'll give it another go now that I'm home from work.

Edit - Just confirmed it chat that it's because I'm from Australia. Can't use the site any more.

Are there any sites left that offer Casino + In-play Live Sportsbetting on the internet for Australian's? This was the only one I could find.

I think some Casinos might just add in their T&C's that it's the players responsibility to ensure they can play in the jurisdiction where they are playing from so that they rid their hands of having to pay winnings to Australian players.

I'm sure there are still sites where you can play online casino and in-play live betting from Australia, but as mentioned, most of the reputable ones will be leaving soon

I am considering BetOnline, I see they offer sports betting and live dealers. They seem popular with American players, so i think they should continue to accept Australian players.

However reviews of this casino on other forums are mixed. They are licesnsed in Panama and apparently charge a $20 fee to withdraw on Skrill, im not sure about other withdrawl methods. But please do reserch this casino before joining them, I'm still undecided myself. But im also tempted by the idea of sports betting + casino with live dealers

Evolution Software?

The site I mostly use utilises Evolution software...So far...no probs. Does anyone have an update of possible issues with Evolution?

Many thanks

Not that I'm a big fan of this group, finally had a win that got me ahead at their casino's (was only ahead by around $1500) with an email a couple of months later on a Sat night giving me a 125% special bonus offer for my account. Sunday make a deposit and find out claiming my loyalty points is suspended, their chat telling me when they sent the email it wasn't suspended but in under 24 hours the change was made, what a load of crap.

Wonder if end of this month is the pullout of the MG viper casinos for Australia :(

(still no email from any of the Digimedia ones yet)

Videoslots also have restrictions.

Saw this over on LCB:

"From Monday the 21st August, we will not be accepting new registrations from Australia.Customers that already have an account with us will stay active until further notice."

However, I haven't received an email relating to this decision. Has anyone else?
