hi folks,

I hear the new Brawn GP Team (Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello) have the fastest car in trials by a mile - worth a punt if thats your fancy.

Don't be silly :p. England's finest has a mere one win dating from the Hungarian GP of 2006, and Barrichello is past it. You'd probably get good odds though.

Massa all the way this year. Although my money is on Alonso. F1 will be in for a surprise when he finally moves to Ferrari. He's the current best driver.

But ironically I don't support either of them.

wonder how the bookies will result the placing's though, i see Jarno Trulli was initially awarded 3rd place but has received a time penatly and has been pushed to 12th position and Lewis hamilton has been put into third place as a result...

Nothing was initially said about it, so if you were quick enough to collect from a high street bookies you would have been ok. I don't know how it would work online though. I suppose if they had already paid they wouldn't recall it, but you never know.

All I know is that my wildcard bet of Hamilton to get a podium finish worked :D

well done Kmay (i didn't see you recomend Hamilton for a podium finish when he finished 12th), but fantastic!!!! Well done. Almost as good as picking the 1st and 2nd!!!!

:)

Thanks :D

Do you mean 18th though (in qualifying)? It was fantastic that Button won. I've said for years that he is one of the best drivers in the sport but has never had a car to challenge for the championship. That's why I was surprised when you pointed out he was favourite. I was wrong :p

Did you get first and second? Those odds weren't favourable to me, but 25/1 for a podium finish for Hamilton was :D Wish I'd put more on him.

But imagine how gutted you would be if you bet on Trulli for third. As he started from the pits, the odds must have been huge

I wonder how this would have been affected by yesterday's events...Would any sportsbooks recall payments? Probably not, but it would seem unfair for those who had bet on Trulli for 3rd. Glad I didn't place mine online.

I get that. My question was whether online sportsbooks would recall payments for bets placed for Hamilton coming 3rd. Presumably they adjusted this after the ruling that promoted Hamilton to 3rd initially.

I wonder what the odds are for Hamilton to leave McLaren at the end of this season. It's looking more and more likely.

Hi Kmay,

I think it would be bad PA for bookies to try and take back any winnings - online bookies would have already settled the result - so it would mean a slight headache of manual adjustments...some will do it...some will leave it...depends on certain factors i.e. emails for Trulli etc and wether there was a lot of cash on Hamilton getting to the podium....rule of thumb, result should be amended and result / payments / winnings etc reversed....

Regards,

Daz

I suppose to people who had bet on Hamilton (such as myself :D) would want this to go no further. I already have my money as I didn't place the bet online, but surely if the results were amended after the ruling that put Hamilton in 3rd, they should likewise be changed after this new information came to light.

It would seem that whatever the sportsbooks do or don't do, they can't win. Such is the way of F1. Nothing is ever set in stone.
