I do and probably more than I should. Have been in the business of buying/selling for 20 years, mostly arcade games but also console games.

I love a good horror game like Siren, Clock Tower and such, they rank right up there with my favourite RPGs. Dark Wizard, Shining Force, FFX, FF IX, Legend of Dragoon, Phantasy Star, Hoshigami, Earthbound and many more old-school games that are well-made. Some contemporary ones are worth mentioning, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and a couple more get my attention these days.

At the mo I'm playing Res Evil 5 (PS3), the first Res Evil (up-to-date graphics on the Game Cube), a version of Turok on the Cube, and a copy of the original Turok on the N64. Still waiting for the mighty Gran Tourismo to come out though

Call to Duty4 - Modern Warfare on the PS3... I play online all the time. This is where I lose all my anger and frustration. The graphics in HD are so fast and so real looking, I can't get over it.

Just about anything made by Sid Meier for the PC

Ok I'll admit it... I'm a game freak. I own or have owned every single video game system ever made. I even used to write game programs for my kids to play for the AppleI and then for the Commodore64.

I used to be into Quake and Quake II big time some years ago - Sunday night clan battles and fragfests *sigh* I still miss them, they were good times. I lost interest when Quake 3 came out as I felt it was a bit lightweight, although I switched to Unreal Tournament for a while - that was pretty awesome too, but nothing I ever played could hold a torch to Quake II. Have heard some pretty good things about CoD though...I'm tempted.

Looking back I guess those games were the first incarnation of social networking. Met some really good people some of whom are still friends today playing Quake.

I used to go by the handle "accident" - purely because Quake Deathmatch used to display who killed who and I liked the making people look like amateurs ... "Dmouse was killed by accident"

Well Doom was my FPS and I fell right into playing Quake, I love playing Quake I was playing it a few days ago , my favorite was rocket jumping. I play mostly Quake 3 Arena and played online too. Now Diablo I cannot play that game for the life of me still got the CD's though.

Hey Vgirl, tell hubby to ditch the 360...you'll save 40 a year if you play online with the PS3, plus its a superior machine...no red ring of death with Sony!

I gotta agree with Thrap... get that PS3, you won't regret it.

The HD is far better quality and seems to run faster than the 360 with less problems... and it really does look great on a HD big screen.

I can't tell much of a difference between HD and Blue Ray (as far as I am concerned they are the same) and I have them both hooked up to the same TV. After all 1080i is 1080i no matter what product is delivering it to your TV.

My favourite online games are CoD 4 and CoD World at War. The multiplayers are nothing short of amazing.

Other favourites are Res 5 and various sports games.

Maybe we should get a Call of Duty Casinomeister clan going if there is enough interest

I play a little tiger woods 08 and fifa manager 08 at the moment.
I completed GTA IV in full Hd, that was a blast.

Although im sitting here with a high end computer, nothing beats the fun i had with the good old Amiga500. Now that was entertainment.

No online/multiplayer crap for me, it's just not appealing. But blast away, by all means, and have a fun time.

I always had a problem w/the FF series... bearing in mind that I haven't played or even seen some of the later versions... but in the two games I had (and gave away) the characters spoke and behaved like adults (owning a store, firing weapons, etc.) , but they all looked like 8 year old kids. Very annoying... I couldn't stay interested and finished neither game.

I hear ya Mousey. As in everything else, there are really good and really bad Final Fantasy games. I've found myself enjoying the old-school ones the most. Like the first three which was released on NES and SNES plus the two first ones for the PS1. That said, there are much better RPGs out there, challenging ones that requires your full attention, those are my absolute favs.

I love this topic! You got me started (and I can go on about this one forever).



I will go on a video game rush for about 2 weeks straight, twice a year.



These days, I really love:


- Far Cry 2


- Call of Duty 1,2, & 4 (3 is really just the same game as Pacific Assault, isn't it?)


- NBA Live '08


- Axis & Allies or A&A Iron Blizt (which are really old games now, but you don't need great graphics for this type of game) will always be my favorite games even if the computer player is devoid of any sufficient strategic skill.


- I'll play StarCraft (although I prefer WC2) from time-to-time because it's HUGE out here in South Korea. Amazing really, because it's the same game as WarCraft II, which was released 14 years ago (!!!), and it's still a great game; albeit a bit too dated on the graphics side of things. I'll always love the Blizzard team for their work on WCII, because I could still run it effectively on a 486, when most games by '95 required at least a Pentium 75.



- I really loved the Rainbow 6 series a decade ago, and then Medal of Honor, and now (above) Call of Duty is the best 1st-person shooter series in my collection. I could go back to Doom 1 & 2, Quake, Duke Nukem (major motion-sickness problem with that one), Jedi Knight, Dark Forces to some of the earlier favorites in this genre as well.

Is your real name Steve Wozniak or John Romero by any chance? The 64 was great, well priced, and SOOOOO much better than the "Vic-20".



Although my parents didn't buy it, we did get the Magnavox Odyssey (hand-me-down from my Uncle at one point in the early '80s because he had just bought a.... ... "Vectrex" ), although the interest quickly faded because within a couple of months after that, we got the Intellivision II with the add-on Intellivoice... "B... 17... Bomber...!!!" Useless sounds, but LESS useless than the R.O.B. (Robotic Operating Buddy) for the Nintendo. People always seem to think that Pong was the first home video game console, but it was in fact the Odyssey.



I also had a Sega Master System, Turbo Graffix-16 - which I traded-in for a - Sega Genesis (smart move), Super Nintendo, and the computer ever since (although I've borrowed people's systems at one time or another).



My favorite video games on the first few generations of systems, I'd to with:

Side note: Herzog Zwei is one of those games, that no one talks about, the box-cover is one of those that wasn't thrilling, it's a game more often than not would have been passed over by everyone, and the name is meaningless, but the game itself was exceptional. I used to pick-up Electronic Gaming Monthly every month at the local pharmacy, and the critic in that '89 issue gave it a poor review.


The only reason I came across it, was because I had credit at an old decrepit comic book & collectible store back in the day, and it was there for basically peanuts. I was even regretting getting it on credit on the bus ride home. That weekend, my best friend and I were wondering why didn't they ever make games like this before, and what's up with Electronic Gaming Monthly? Did they even insert the cartridge into the machine to play the darn thing, because this is the first real-time strategy game that I can think of (even before Dune II), and my friend and I couldn't put the controllers down (head-to-head split screen).



Now, if you want to see the most famous blunders in video game history - sometimes cited as the reason for the video game crash of '83 - look no further than E.T. for the Atari. Here's a great review on it, done by the somewhat funny IrateGamer...

You wanna hear something funny - and ultra-esoteric - there was a club that met once a month (hometown in Winnipeg, Canada), a club devoted 100% to the "Adam Computer", that just recently closed (maybe 2-3 years back). That computer goes back to something like 25-years, and you want to talk about a loyal following, they're it.



I was thinking of the Commodore 64 (and the Amiga) as being one the earliest of computers that might as well have been made with the video-game market in mind, everything else secondary. Friends who had Apples or IBMs maybe had a few games (like Dig Dug or Pit Fall), but the friends with Commodores had a whole case or 2 stacked with floppies just for games (and pretty good ones at that for the time).



My uncle is about 70 years old now, and he has been a computer programmer since the earliest days. At Christmas parties, I used to ask him how much he'd pay for an Amiga, and he'd hesitate for a few seconds, and say $20 bucks, that's it... nothing more. I'd ask what he had against the Amiga, and while he did admit that the video toaster was the shit at that time, he was a devoted IBMer. I didn't agree with him then, and I still don't now. The Amiga always had the best graphics, until maybe the Sega Genesis came along, but most surely it wasn't king by the time the Neo Geo video game console was released (with a completely unaffordable price tag). Then again, he wasn't into games either, so I should cut the guy a break on this one.

I very rarely play games I can't win money at... sad I know!

I won an X-Box360 from Paddy Power about 3 years ago - hardly touched it and only have 1 game for it.

I also won a Wii from BetFair this April - again, only have Wii sports. Favourite game is Golf (not surprising really), best score for 9 holes (day before yesterday) = 7 under par - anyone beat that?

The only other game I've played recently I bought about a week ago; The original Lemmings 1 & 2 for Windows. I used to play this for hour after hour, and half way through the night when I had my first 486 PC about 20 years ago...
It's still totally brilliant!

I play online games only, first person shooter all the way.

I have all of the call of duty series (big shout out to my man lotso) from 1 through 5, they didnt make part 3 for the PC.
the game play with call of duty and other games on PC is awesome.

I went all out a while back and got a really good computer to play the games with,

Now I have a AMD Athlon dual core 6000+ 3.2mghz, I have 8 gig of ram running on vista 64 bit, two 8800 GTX ultra graphics cards 700mb costing $1000 each, thermaltake tower with water cooling 5 fans, Stirker gaming board with cooling system.
26 inch samsung monitor, gaming mouse,gaming pad etc.

I play in with what they call a clan online so have have competitions with other groups of up to nine.
