I am going to take a plunge into cryptocurrency on my next payday...not because of an opportunity to invest in it at all, but because I really enjoy RTG slots and casinoxtreme is looking like one of the few good RTG casino available for UK and they only accept Crypto.

This is going to sound shilly, but Blockchain Wallet are doing a crypto giveaway of $125 million ($25 to each person) for a pretty new coin called Stellar (XLM) provided you go through KYC. Still waiting on mine for almost 2 weeks

Regarding the BC value drop, this is terrible for people who already have coin in thier wallet...your money is now worth much less and 5 times less than what it was worth earlier this year, however for people new to cryptocurrency it could be a good time to buy some, maybe.

There are wallets out there that support multi crypto currency such as Exodus wallet. If you want to avoid the volatility of BC it would probably be wise to convert some of your BC to another cryptocurrency Like Monero, Etherum and the newer Stellar coin to avoid taking such a loss.

all the nubs sayin, sell sell sell. no, grow some balls and hodl

Forgive me but is this not a bad time to sell?

If I had 1 bitcoin that was worth £14,500 back in December 2017 and I didn't sell it then, then I'm not going to cash it out now when it's only worth £3,500. I don't get it.

I suppose if you mined the coins back in the day, then it's probably an option to sell incase it's only ever going to be all down hill for BC at this point.

That all depends on whether you think they will recover... or continue to fall off a cliff...

I stopped holding many Bitcoins since getting robbed of £25,000 worth by hackers in June, but I'm still pissed-off to see the value of what I do hold dropping so sharply :(

F....f.....four-point five? :eek2::eek2:

Read that BC is unlikely to ever really go below six, guess that notion died a death

Mind you I bought Ethereum at 465 (ahem)

Wow. That's horrendous, sorry to hear that.

Where had you them stored? I thought storing them on your computer with 2FA was solid, but I've heard stories of online wallets being breached and customers coins stolen. Then again with online wallet storage you have to be sure that the people operating these sites haven't done so with the sole purpose of carrying out this hiest themselves and as such I would never ever trust an online wallet.

There's also cold storage where you buy a piece of hardware like Trezor or Ledger to store your coins and only ever connect to the internet to make transactions.

I can't ever imagine losing that sort of money man. I hope BC recovers and surges past the £14k it hit last year.

I personally want it to drop as low as possible first so I can buy some and hop on the wagon this time :)

Yeah - I THOUGHT that was safe too - but then, I'm 99% sure the hack was at Blockchain's end, not mine

Here's the thread: Blockchain wallet hacked - emptied. Warning!

Cheers for the link...I had a quick read through. I particularly liked the

"It's likely the code was introduced by someone who works (or worked) for some company connected to bitcoin (exchange/mining pool/gambling site/wallet)."

Got the imagination going that line :p

This posted by yourself:

"But, being very cynical, how would you know if the software on your device is safe?
What if hackers are producing and selling these external wallets to the general public?"

I understand your cynacism and you're absolutely right, there's no way to guarantee people who make such devices are not going to be future perpetrators of Bitcoin theft through malicious code on said devices.

But what you can do is get yourself a USB, or if you have a wallet that downloads the entire blockchain you'll need an External HDD...put a wallet on there like Electrum and do not assosciate this wallet with anyone or any site anywhere and keep it offline at all times.

When you want to use this wallet, transfer whatever you need to use to another wallet you own and disconnect it again.

Thanks for the info regarding Blockchain. I don't know for certainty if they were involved, it's not out of the realm of possiblilty; but what I know now is they are very very unsecure.

When I use coinbase to get money to my blockchain wallet it will be going straight to my Electrum wallet or Exodus one.
