Hiya: Well, all i will say is this. The Govener of Nevada is going to cut millions from edgucation to make up for a projected 1 billion shortfall in the budget. Nevada was the first state to tell all the other states to, "Go to Hell", we have legalized Gambling, and that is that. They even threatened to kick Nevada out of the Union if they did not change their minds.

I think it is past time for Nevada to tell the other states to, "Go to Hell", again, and start getting a piece of Internet Gambling pie. There are so many different ways, and venues, and possibilities, that it should no be, "if we should", but rather should be, "what do we do first"........

Hell, how many Internet Casinos are using the Las Vegas Name, the welcome to Las Vegas sign, Pictures of the strip, and so on for their promotional purposes, and naming their casino. Did any of them pay Las Vegas to use any of these things?

imhop: Official Las Vegas Casino, even located overseas, endoursed/supported by the state of Nevada. Deposit now and get a free room at a strip hotel in las vegas, giving away random free airfare to Las Vegas, just be logged in and playing at the casino for a chance to win. 100% match bonus up to $300 in Casino chips to use in Las Vegas, and so on....
It would be a Win-Win-Win for everybody.....

Both of these people you are talking about are long time forum members and very respected ones at that, so if your tummy is churning, id suggest some PEPTO, always does me good after reading a post like yours:p.........LJ

Keep it REAL laurie. Because in all honesty. You are one of the fakest member at casinomeister. You are very 2 faced.

Uh, Nevada was the first state to pass a law that specifically prohibited its residents from placing or accepting bets over the Internet. To protect Nevada gaming? Hello!? Later, when established Las Vegas casinos saw the money online sites were raking, they changed their tune.

So, what's the Guinness book's line on Shortest CM Membership, ever?

I think the biggest issue people have is not so much writing an email, but digging out who to contact and their email address.

Someone ought to create a list of the representatives email addresses and post a thread here so ppl know how to contact their representative.

As long as ppl email sensibly and politely with a proper argument and dont just rant, it could help, at least to make reps aware that ppl feel strongly.

Good idea! For now, I Googled "write your congressman" and got

So out of interest, what are your guys thoughts on the States each being able to make their own laws? On the one hand I guess it gives an element of freedom to decide how to run their jurisdiction, while on the other it seems to lead to a minefield of red tape.

The biggest issue to me (observing as an outsider) seems to be, as referenced above, that each State is keen to ensure that their laws stop their residents buying products or services from outside the State a lot of the time, or is that unusual?

It must be a nightmare for some businesses to have to comply with different laws and tax regs in the same country I would have thought.

This'll floor ya: After the voters of Nevada passed a ballot inituitive allowing the state legislature to start issuing licenses to online gambling sites, (this after Nevada, originally, being the first state to ban its residents from making, specifically, online bets to LV casinos starting their own if-ya-can't-beat-em,-join-'em-sites licensed in Malta), the U.S. Department of Justice stepped in and placed various restrictions on Nevada casinos and banned any wagers that crossed state lines!

So much for state's rights!

Just like, until recently, in CA, medical marijuana "clinics" were being busted alla time by the Feds despite medical marijuana being "legal" in CA.

WTF!? Can NOONE pull the plug on this jerk-off!?!?

Before you go GreyDay:

Check it out, PAL, (P.unk A.ss L.ame): No one gives a flip about you, or anything you have to say. The best part of you, brains, especially, obviously ran down your mama's leg, whereby every mongrel that happened by that alley pissed on you, in good judgement, after one, quick sniff.

I'll probably get an infraction for this post. But hell, I'd take a bullet for good ol' CM, any day!

So basically the States can make laws, but they can be overturned from above? Does that mean that a Federal (is that the right terminology?) directive has to be adopted nationwide unless specific directives are given for States to opt out?

Hiya; A state can make any law it wants to, as long as it does not violate a federal law already in place. A Lottery as example. Nevada does not have one. If the state decided that having a lottery would not take away money from the casinos keno players, they could just go ahead and do it.

Yeah like love2winalot says, states can have different laws regarding things the Feds aren't covering on a National Level. For example, there is no federal law banning gay marriage so it's up to each state to handle it.

here's an article on taxes

Isn't marijuana an illegal federal law. But some states legalize it???

This thread depressed me:(

Just a bit of advice about contacting your reps....I heard a congressman say if you really want attention use snail mail, it is much more effective and likely to get responses than email (if someone already covered this in something linked sorry, I did not check them all).

So Is the Confederacy?

Let us face it. All things are bad for you. History is now dirty, pot is reefer madness, the skone you eat becomes a tumor and is no rumor. I like the good old days and love Walt Disney movies for their appeal to popular culture of the time.

Political activism and correctness can not change the past, but we don't have to relive it; rather laugh at the gas lights and stupidity of the period. To see the future is to be Jules Verne and think outside the box of abc, 123, what we are told to live, breathe and think by the social, political-media complex.

All things perceptually in Walt Disney movies, such as Song of the South, are racist now, lol...the movie got an Oscar (academy Award) for best music in 1946!...Even an idiot savant would get it! I can't wait to see what becomes of Snow White!
