Has anybody got any experience with African Palace casino? They are Playtech and offering a 200% bonus. I cant seem to find much on them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

THIS IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS DUMP:

When a 66 year-old South African grandmother in the city of Kimberley, South Africa hit a large progressive slot jackpot at African Palace Casino on November 7th last year she thought her financial worries were over, but this week a report in the South African Sunday Times newspaper indicated that they may have only just begun.

Marie Van Wyk was playing the Beach Life progressive slot when she made a Rands 80 (about $10) and won a jackpot worth Rands 8.5 million ($1.054 million). She was feted by African Palace, who exploited the win widely in a publicity sense.

Apparently some arrangement was made with the Playtech-powered online casino to pay the lucky winner in six monthly instalments rather than one cash tranche. Van Wyk trusted the casino owners because she had previously been successfully paid out on a Rands 64,000 jackpot at the same casino.

Unfortunately, the arrangement only worked for two payments, with Van Wyk receiving only Rands 2.8 million in total, before payments dried up and the April instalment did not arrive.

Van Wyk fears that the May payment has also been withheld, and this prompted her to tell her story to the local newspapers.

"I have won several times before and never have my winnings been paid out in instalments," said the Kimberley grandmother, who is a regular online player.

When she told the company that she was going to expose their failure to pay her, she received a lawyer's letter assuring her that a "workable solution can be found without the need to air grievances in public."

Approached by the newspaper, African Palace finance manager Tagore Dhanraj refused to comment beyond saying that the company was trying to resolve the matter.

African Palace has been the subject of player complaints regarding payments in the past, whilst the progressive payouts of its software provider, Playtech, have recently been criticised for being effected in instalments instead of in a single payment as is the case with more established software providers like Microgaming and Cryptologic.

Van Wyk's big win features prominently on the African Palace website landing page and in its news section, where photographs of the presentation of a mock R8.5 million cheque abound.

Yikes! I should have checked the rogue list first. That was stupid of me. Luckily I asked :) I found them on a certain member's website (Slot Beaters) along with Grand Reef. I thought maybe they had recently cleared up their act? That 200% bonus is mighty tempting but considering they are rogue I might skip this one.

THIS IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS DUMP:
That story was from 2009.
The original African Palace closed down ages ago, and the brand name was bought by the Grand Reef group toward the end of last year. The casino was re-launched just last month.
i.e. Totally different owners and management to when that scandal happened.

Spot on! Thanks for the info mate :)

Actually, they have now too few, if not nothing in common with the old, classic rogue casino, which you were referring to. As matsgame has already stated, African Palace has new owners (from the end of 2011 if I'm not wrong) and it is desperately trying to get rid of its old and awful reputation. Wish them luck with it, as we all need decent Playtech casinos, but for now, my personal opinion is that there is still a long way until any decent level of a reputable online casino operation is being met! Just my two cents.

With all due respect KK, you have a bad habit of promoting questionable casinos. Some you promote(d) are/were borderline rogues. Even your fellow members here have questioned your actions in the past. But to no avail did you seem to care. Until issues were infact rosed and then you acted. If any member here is looking to sign up at any casino listed on your site. I advise them to check the rogue pit here first. If the casino is still in the rogue. New owners or not, I SAY AVOID!!!

Good website KK :) I just dont know if playing at a known rogue sits well with me. But thanks for pointing that out. I did notice on the above link/thread that African Palace and Grand Reef are on the recent No Can Do list for major stalling tactics on progressives as well.

They are NOT on the rogue list - if they were they wouldn't be on any of my websites.
They are on the "Not Recommended" Playtechs list for the sole reason that their terms imply that Network Progressive Jackpot wins are not paid out in one lump sum.
I have been communicating with my rep there recently to try to clarify if this IS their policy or not. I don't have an answer yet - but have just chased him up again.
He is probably off to the Affiliate Conference in Barcelona (where I expect Bryan is headed too!), so I might not get an answer for a week or more.

Why dont they change the name of the casino then?
African Palace was a well known rogue, only the name will keep many people away now.

Yes I will be avoiding this one. I have allot of respect for KK but your right I'm a little bit wary as KK also promotes Bet Pheonix and a bunch of other questionable casinos that as you said seem borderline rogue. I know I was never paid at Bet Pheonix, I can see he also promotes Slots Jungle.

I'm going to take your advice. I'm not really fond of playing at known rogues :)

African Palace is on the rogue list I just checked KK. Just a heads up :)

I honestly do not believe that they would be on the rogue list if they spoke to Bryan to clear some things up, they would however be on the "Not Recommended List". It was pretty silly of them to take over a name that was well and truly tarnished, why they thought this was a good business decision is baffling.

I personally would not play there because they seem to be slow paying (4 day pending period, last time I checked) and do not pay progressives in 1 lump sum, even though Playtech pays them the amount in full and we all know why they hold onto it. (this also goes for Grand Reef)

I stand corrected :o
I honestly did not know that - I will remove them from all my websites right now...

They are yes, but I assume this is still from the old management days (it does say 2010, but I still wouldn't be playing there.

I wonder if they ever cleared up the old issues or whether they even should have under the new management?

Thats a real shame re not paying the lump sum of jackpot to that lady. I feel sorry for her. $10 a spin is very very very expensive and trigger that jackpot is great win she has had. That is a worldwide progressive and yet African Casino refused to pay out lump sum. That is very rogue to me. Glad you asked first Mark which is good to start with if you are not sure. Here is a great place to go to.

don't touch them with a bargepole.

I recently won $3k there. Got bored with the delays and aggravation and reversed the withdrawal and played Gladiator at $125 a spin for a laugh. (short laugh!).

Not looking for any sympathy - totally my fault for signing up, but I didn't deposit much and just put in down to experience.

I had not heard that this at one time really, really bad brand had changed hands (any detail on who the new owner is KK?) but I agree with other posters here that to buy a brand that had/has such a shocker of a reputation would not appear to make any sense.

There were numerous disputes and questionable anti-player activities the past, and that sort of reputation is quite difficult to outrun; that's assuming that the new owners are relatively honest guys who run a professional outfit.

We've seen alleged changes of management or ownership and the promise to turn over a new leaf before, only to find that in fact little had changed.

If there has been a genuine change then they will need to show by their actions that they can be trusted by players - especially experienced online players as we have here.

Yes would seem so, I'm definitely going to er on the side of caution on this one :)

Hey Jetset, the new owners are Rand Logic Gaming NV the same crew who run Grand Reef casino and Commision365 affiliate program.

They also took over African Palace's sister casino Indio casino, who also had a pretty bad reputation.

Funny I just received a CD in the mail from them on Friday, it went straight into the bin.

If there are really new owners they should : a) Be shouting from the rooftops that they're under new management, and b) contacting Bryan to tell him they're under new management and try to at least get themselves out of the rogue pit. Not necessarily in that order.

Thanks, Matt.

The name Indio sticks in the mind as well - if I recall correctly the owners back then were based in Durban, South Africa and they generated so much bad publicity that they eventually even attracted the attention of the South African gambling authorities and media.

By the way - the title "Rand Logic Gaming" has a South African flavour to it as well (title of that country's currency)

That's absolutely shocking! I don't know how they manage to attract customers with such awful service.
