Yeah, just read this on bbc news. Such a shame. But at least he did some great work during his lifetime even with his illness. It is amazing he surpassed what the doctors said too. 76 is still a long life. RIP Stephen Hawking.

What an inspiring person. We are so lucky to have minds like these being able to put the cosmic puzzle together. Makes you wonder who will be stepping up to bat for cosmic understanding and discoveries.

I knew of him for years, but only recently read up on him, after seeing a great docu-drama about his life, and i had to say that he was a very impressive man indeed. Someone who was surely a great example and role model for many people, achieving great intellectual heights, despite such a horrible limitation, and although i rarely would state such a thing about a person outside of my personal 'circles', a man that will surely be missed...but luckily left his stamp for the next generations!

RIP Stephen Hawking.
Truly he was one of the brightest minds of our time! I remember myself as a student and I was really obsessed with ideas of Hawking. Recently I read his books one more time, just to renew my knowledge. His thoughts about black holes theory were really unusual and inspiring.
It is very sad that such great minds left us but I am sure that they will be deep in the heart of science forever.

The dedication of this guy was immense, despite the debilitating ALS he suffered from. He lived and breathed cosmology.
