I've just finished watching the Bandits latest videos which are split into partS 1 & 2. The two vids were edited down but he told us he had played for around 12 hours straight or thereabouts and part two shows us he finishes about 11k up.
This was after, according to his twitter feed, another massively long session on Reel King which he didn't record, where he deposited somewhere in the region of £139k and withdrew in the region of 128k, this is approximate so don't quote me on the figures, but it's there or thereabouts, but this time he lost around 11k.
Someone in the comments section on Bandits website made the observation that after these two hugely time consuming sessions the Bandit ended in profit to the Princely sum of £196.00 after many many hours of play.
Now this post isn't intended to be about the big stakes played by The Bandit, that's a matter for him, it's his money, his business and no concern of mine, but it got me thinking to around 5 years ago when I used to play online roulette and one night made total deposits of £25,000 and almost lost the lot over several hours, I was right down to a balance in the low hundreds at one point, but finished up cashing out the grand total of £25,125, a profit of £125.00 to show for a lost nights sleep and many hours of heart pounding anxiety followed by feelings of elation and so on and so on. My balance was up and down like a brides nighty that night and I've often thought that it's not always about the potential to lose a lot of money, it's about the time that we'll never get back spent doing it! that's why I try and limit myself to a few hours play now, admittedly I've still had the odd long session (one quite recently) when the slots are hot, but I try to limit my time playing in general as there's more to life than gambling despite how much fun it can be at times.

For me it boils down to this:

There will always be "better" things you could have spent the time on, no matter if you are watching a movie, reading a book, playing videogames, fishing, etc.
But its your time, and if you enjoyed it, whos to say its wrong?
I agree with your phrase quoted 100%, but watching the vids it's clear to see he's 'in the zone' I know that feeling only too well, the enjoyments gone, or greatly reduced at least, and it's now all about getting even or into profit, and it can often end in disaster and there's nothing enjoyable about that.

Yeah, i agree.
I think all people that gamble regularly visits that place every now and then.
Just grinding on like a zombie when the sensible thing would have been to stop alot earlier.

Yep - sometimes getting out of the hole like that roulette session is a thrill equal to a big win. Despair, followed by hope and then finally relief you didn't lose anything. That £125 would be sweeter money to me than dropping 50 in and withdrawing 500 an hour later.

Similar, i remember years ago being 2500 down or something on a Saturday afternoon

I was playing some, in hindsight, shitty games (Ainsworth/Chartwell? i think, Cash Inferno and Arthurs Quest on Bet Victor - though i did hit the 10k jackpot on CI months before).

Never forget; loaded another 200 in it and got up to 450 - ONLY time I've ever done this i went F this, i'm doing max bet for 10 can't remember if it was 25 or 45 quid spins but whatever it was i ended up breaking more of less even (got the 5 symbols which x3 the bonus win - think the bonus was only 60x with the x3, Jesus i was thicker back then than i am now)

That 50/100 quid up, after being in the pit most of the afternoon had me feeling the rest of the day as if I'd hit another jackpot.

Never again, cos i was sweating bucket loads.

.
Agreed.... The relief that night was palpable, I remember actually getting up from my chair and going outside to look up at the sky and thank the Heavens (even though I'm not particularly religious lol)

For me it's just something more pleasant/exciting to do in my spare time instead of watching Netflix with the gf. I don't do a lot of deposits either, just 1 or 2. If everything goes well I can play for hours though and sometimes some hours the next day too. I don't play every week (except for social tournaments :p).

I try to keep it at a healthy amount. After a bad session or a long session I always force myself to get back into "reality" and just forget about it. Just something I've learned after feeling bad for to long after some bad sessions. My deposits are also so small I won't notice losing any of them, very important if you want to keep that healthy mindset.

The thing you describe about losing a shit ton and winning it all back, I had that too a lot of times many years ago. But in my mind those moments never made me happy afterwards. 99% of the session you just feel bad and the last 1% you feel relieved (not good, but relieved). 90% of those sessions end in a big loss and 10% of the time you get back even (change these numbers if you would like :p). Which means the chances of feeling good afterwards are close to 0. At least for me, I would feel bad about myself for putting that much money on the line and making it all back wouldn't take that feeling away.

Do not get me wrong - I would really love to know how the bandit can afford this type of gambling?

Also why does he have comments turned of on his YouTube channel and videos? Does he not want negative comments or something? People who have comments turned off, send out wrong signals that something is amiss.

I mean it kinda reminds me of Nicola. Erratic bet sizes etc etc from doing min bet to max bets. Just makes no logical sense.

I'm sure he's mentioned that he tends to get a fair bit of abusive comments about the massive stakes, accusations of betting fake money, in bed with the casinos etc etc hence the reason for turning off the comments.

I seem to recall him saying sometime recently that comments are turned off, but his videos are on his own website with comments below them, so people can comment there if they want.

I dont mind the guy to watch for a while, crazy bet sizes and such, but his money and choice etc.

And that is the reason why so many get huge problems with gambling, huge debt and ruined lifes. After such a great loss most of us are in some kind of "pain" and lack of self control, and will most likely deposit more to try to win something back. The luck must turn sooner or later, right?
Fucking dangerous!

But... If you do manage to win something back, you are also most likely to be slapped by an nightmare SOW from casinoes like Casumo, after such a session - when you are attempting to withdraw.

Edit: sorry for not answering your question about time. But yeah - I'm sure most of us gamblers regret on the time used on gambling that really has not resulted in anything else than debt and bad health.

Yeah, we jump through hoops with verification rules when we join a casino, put up with shite or non existence bonuses, laggy games etc when we play, and then on the rare occasions we have a decent win the fucking hoops are brought out again for us to jump through again, but this time they set fire to the hoops just to make it even more difficult and stressful...... We have to wonder why we bother!
