today? The book (Link Removed (invalid URL)) was great..I really hope they don't ruin it like other stories have been in the past when they went to the big screen...Stephen King's books are notorious for that...the movies usually suck when compared to the book.

For those that haven't heard of either one of them, it's the story about a MIT blackjack team that took Vegas for millions....:D

I'd like to see it but no one I know likes to go to the movies anymore. They just order one from Optimum online. I miss the old days...I miss the smell of the popcorn.

I wouldn't mind seeing it only because its suppose to be based on a true story. I just saw previews on T.V. for it and it looks to be pretty interesting.
I can smell the popcorn now ballysdb :p Nothing beats the popcorn at the movies...the more butter on it the better :D

I haven't seen the movie yet, but the only thing that I see that is possibly made up is the need for him to raise $300,000 to stay in college. That part was never mentioned in the book at all. That, to me, really makes it bad because it's just a storyline to try and make the movie more interesting. For a book that was already awesome to begin with, that twist wasn't needed.

And yep, it is definitely a true story! :D

They even sell their card counting and adv. blackjack strategy DVD's at

, as well as give seminars.

The MIT blackjack teams have taken millions of dollars from casinos around the world by training students to play blackjack scientifically.

ABC News has covered them, the History Channel made a special on them, bestselling books have been written about them, and Hollywood has made "21" , movie with Kevin Spacey about them.
Semyon Dukach created Blackjack Science in order to share his blackjack secrets with the world. In 2008 everyone buying his Advanced Techniques DVD will get an entry into a drawing. The winner gets dinner with Semyon in NYC or Boston and a ride in his private helicopter!

Which brings me to this thought(question)...is it sometimes better to just read the book and skip the movie or vice versa. Skip the book and see the movie, and this can pertain to any story aside from this one. :)

I dunno on this one...I'm an action and gambling movie junkie, and it looks as if this one has plenty of both. For this one, I think I'm willing to forgo a plot variation or two, and hope they follow the book as close as they can for the rest of the movie.

But, if you haven't yet read the book, it's a tough call....I'd read the book first before seeing the movie, but that's just me...at least that way you can check it out for free at your local library.

Thats just it, I'm not into gambling movies that is why Im sort of shocked I find this one to seem interesting. As I stated earlier, I think its because of being based on a true story.
If you happen to go to the movie before I do, make sure you post here whether you preferred the book or the movie. I can't see myself getting there until the week after next.
It should be interesting to see what others have to say about the movie especially if they are big card players.
