Did you guys see this? I remember when I first heard about salt water crocodiles I had nightmares, they're very large and can be way out in the ocean - I remember reading about one that was 30 miles from shore. So a few days ago in the Philippines they caught this one - it might be the biggest one ever captured alive.

They suspect this guy may have been eating some people and livestock, but since they caught him and he's so big, they decided not to kill him but to create a nature preserve where people can come and see him, and they'll feed him so he'll quit eating them.

So now the latest, PETA has started protesting that they need to release him back into the wild.

Anyhow imagine your plane crashes into the ocean, you think, "Yay I found a life preserver, I'm saved" and then see this fellow heading in your direction. Oh yeah and they can swim up to 18 miles per hour if they're hungry.

Sweet dreams everyone. :p

Dear Gawd!!!!! I like to watch horror shows about oversize crocs, alligators, sharks, but only because I assume they do not exist. Well, wrong again, Jod! That guy would cause me to have a major heart attack even if I was on the other side of the fence from him!

I can't get the link to work, will try again later so I know where I will never, ever go on vacation! :D

My opinion of Peta? They are a bunch of trouble making fools that make life worse for animals with their idiotic approach to animal welfare. I swear, if they would keep their big mouths shut there would be a lot less women wearing fur. They just egg folks into doing what they normally would think about not doing with their psychotic attitudes.

HI Peeps,

Living in the northern Territory of Australia I have seen my fair share of BIG crocodiles let me tell you.

I have a good friend who is an Aboriginal and his family owns a few thousand acres near a place called the Daly River (see youtube clip of daly river below) Well this place is INFESTED with Crocs and there are some real big bastards out there I can tell you.

Anyway, back to the story. At times I would go out to my friends property for the weekend to do some fishing and hunting. In the evenings we would have to go down to the river (the one in the clip) with one of us holding a 12 gauge shot gun and the other with 2- 20 Litre water containers. One would have to stand there with a shotgun right next to you at waters edge whilst the person with the containers would have to carefully fill them up whilst watching for any movement in the water.

As you can see close to the edge of the bank it is pretty clear so you could see a few metres infront of you but I cant tell you your heart is right in your throat when you have to do this.

Here is the Daly River. Its well known for it's fishing, you catch the Aussie famous Barramundi there. You will see a Barramundi in that video.

About 30 odd years ago they caught and killed a Croc they named Sweetheart- She killed a few people but was famous for biting off the outboard motors in the boats.

They preserved her and she is on display at the Museum in my local town.
Here is a pic of when they first got her.

Now I KNOW I am going to have nightmares tonight!! I always wondered, if a boat is in the river and a big croc gets underneath, can't it tip the boat if it wants to? Then, wouldn't anyone on the boat get dumped in the water with the croc?

I know why I don't like rivers and other bodies of water....crazy monsters!!!

I would appreciate it if you guys would stop posting pictures of my mother-n-law on here!!! I don't need to be reminded of her every time I log into Casinomeister!!!!:D

On a more serious note, MY GOD THAT THING IS HUGE!!!! How many people did it take to get that beast? Trained or not, I would not attempt to catch it. As big as it is, I am sure it still moves faster than me.

Trust me I won't be having sweet dreams about that bad boy!!! Reminds me to much of my mother-n-law, more like horrible nightmares!!! bahahahahahah

I have one of these at my front door, you best know the password!!!

That salty is a monster. Seen a few back when I used to head up north to do some fishing. As Same_Old pointed out they are everywhere up that way, salt and fresh water crocs. They were not too shy either, if you caught a fish watch the side of the boat or that fish may not be yours for much longer.

Are you serious? Why on earth would you go fishing in those waters, go to the store and buy a fish have it mounted and say you caught it, so much safer that way!;)

Even regular sized crocs and alligators scare the bejeebers out of me! I've never lived anywhere where big reptiles roam around though, so that's good. I grew up in bear country - we had bears and cougars and the occasional gang of coyotes to watch out for when I was a kid - oh yeah and skunks. :)

PeETA needs to go back the start of why they started their group. They have become ..well..outlandish, now.

 Totally agree. I'm absolutely against inhumane treatment or abuse of animals, but those people from PETA mostly seem to care more about being in the limelight than anything else. They do such stupid stuff it seems like they do more harm than good - I heard about a group who broke into some restaurant or some place in California where they had these tortoises, they "freed" the toroises and let them loose in the ocean, where they promptly all died because the bighearted and pinheaded group didn't know that they were fresh water tortoises.
