Just curious why members use a particular Username/Handle here at CM?

I see so many and got to wondering why they were chosen and what they mean to the particular person and the story behind them....

eg. Vinyl Weather Man
RainMaker
Nifty29, etc....

Post here if you feel like disclosing.....:D

This is purely a curiosity for me as I see some strange names and wonder what they mean.

Mine is taken from Gremlins(Obviously!:p)

Reason chosen:I work in administration and designed and coded the docketing system and databases for the processing of loads and to keep track of the gross weights, products and clients coming in and out. I often had to weed out the Gremlins in the system. The office girls called me the Gremlin exterminator, then just Gremlin and after that Gremmy. I added the boy to GremmyBoy because hotmail wouldn't let me use just [email protected] as it was already used!
The rest is history. :D

Cheers
Gremmy

Good thread gremmy! Mine is so geeky.

I signed up for some childrens' multiplayer online game when I was 11 as "Glun11." I was absentminded and hit u instead of e (Glen being my real name), and I thought the typo was just swell.

Joined RuneScape a year or so later and got sick of my first character due to my short attention span. Made a second one called Glunn11, and that's where we are 7 years later.

;)

I was a travel agent for almost 30 years and then decided I had had enough:eek2:, was also feeling old hence the name "oldtrvlagt" (old travel agent without the vowels):D

Mine's my old nickname from when I was a kid. Given to me by the Innies.... quiet, big ears, ordinary looking, straight A geek... I wouldn't do their homework for them. :D

Good thread

Definition from Wikipedia:

The terms Rainmaker and Rainmaking refer to the act of influencing the gods or mechanically seeding the clouds to induce additional rain, especially on cropland during a drought.

In business, a rainmaker is a person who brings revenue from customers and donors into an organization; rain refers to customers' money.

I have used "rainmaker" for many years in different places. The main reason is, I read "the rainmaker" in 1995- a book by John Grisham. It was one of the first "real" books that I ever read (I was about 12 years old). And I really liked the book at that time so I started to use the nickname "rainmaker" on a chat client called mIRC. This was when mIRC was something new (many many years ago, don`t know if they still are around)

And I have continued to use "rainmaker" over the years when I have participated in forums etc.

Now I only use this forum, so Casinomeister is the only place where I am registered as "rainmaker".

Anyway, I think rainmaker is a good nickname :D

When I was 15, I kept a fictional journal in the name of Jasmine Bedwell, whose first complaint was that her parents would not call her Jazzy, which was a much cooler name.

JAZ was for highscore on arcade games, and I played NTN Trivia as Jazzy. When I first came online in the mid-nineties, jazzy was always taken, so I became Jasminebed.

Mine came when I first got broadband, and had to create a username for a second email account - one that would be seen in public. I didn't want a "second hand" where you had to be allocated a "version number" in order to make it unique. Everything I tried was already taken, so I used a suggestion function, which asked for two interests and hobbies. I entered "the weather", and "vinyl records". Up popped the suggestion "vinylweatherman", and it was unique, no version number. So I clicked "use this". I liked it, so it is now my handle almost everywhere on the internet. Where this is too many characters, I use a contraction, so on GoneGambling, I am "vinylwm" (many probably figured this out already;) ).

I even nabbed the domain "vinylweatherman" for my first website:D

Maybe I should trademark it, as Bryan has for "Casinomeister".

chuchu is the nickname of my wife and her surname is chu. we were both born in 1959.
Wey-hey! I'm NOT the oldest person on the forum! :p

Mines quite boring really and stems from my love of Black Sabbath and Maiden, oh and my country of birth
I LURVE your music taste!

For the 1% of members here who have not visited my website and read my page "Everything you ever wanted to know about KK (but were afraid to ask)"...
Extract:
Unfortunately got into gambling at a very early age (in my teens), but have always been reasonably controlled and never got into really serious debt. First played in a real casino in the mid 90’s, and turned to the online version in 2001.

I was already starting to be pretty good at winning online when early in 2002 I was introduced to the husband of my wife’s friend’s, friend. This guy introduced me to the game of poker – something I have never forgiven him for because it cost me $1,000’s!! :(

For about 6 months I occasionally went to a little ‘poker school’ with him, playing mostly Omaha for relatively low stakes. I won some & lost some, but always enjoyed it. The real poker games stopped when my new friend got heavily into debt due to letting his gambling get out of control, and he just suddenly gave up all betting completely. Shortly afterwards he moved away and we lost all contact.

Anyway, the whole point of this story is that he called himself ‘Poker Prince’ – he even had a cap with this name embroidered on the front. (How sad! :p) It was this that gave me the idea to start calling myself ‘Kasino King’ – and as you can tell, I’ve stuck with it ever since!

very uncreative...k for Kim and sech for the first letters of last name. Unless I forget my name, I'll never forget my username lol.

@KK, you're a puppy lmao (meant in the nicest way possible :D)

Mine comes from being part Mommy part Machine:D.

I have 6 kids, which I had in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009 all by c-section ...2006 and 2007 were slow years for my uterus.

Also, there is a song that my kids sing that has a line that goes like:

"She's a mean, mean MommyMachine, she never lets us do a thing.":o

I used this username at one forum and it just stuck I guess and now I use it everywhere. MM, MommyMachine, Josephine...it's all the same anymore.

My username comes from when I first played an online FPS (first person shooter) about 10 years ago. I wanted Percolator but it was taken so I went with Percilator, after a while I shortened it to Perc and it stuck.

WOW! Thanks for all the replies!:D

As I was reading the thread I felt as if I was learning something about each poster!

Sometimes in the forum you forget that there are real people behind the posts.

A very interesting read and enlightening. :D

Keep 'em coming. :D:thumbsup:

Cheers
Gremmy

Ps... BaldIdiots was my favourite response.

Pps... Really curious about a few usernames still. Funeral19??(can't remember) comes to mind.:eek2:

My discipline is marketing, and back in the pioneering days of online gambling in the mid-nineties I consulted for a Canadian investment consortium in setting up and launching a group of online casinos.

My contract included the development of brands, commercial identities and website themes for the webbies to apply to the sites of these future operations, and one of them featuring the high life I especially liked, mainly because it incorporated exec jets and I'm an aviation fan.

Footnote: After my contract ended the owners made the fatal mistake of diverting the burgeoning profits from the casinos to other blue sky ventures instead of ploughing them back into the business, and as a consequence none of them survived. A pity, because with continued momentum I believe they could have been right up there with the top industry companies as an early entrant in a new business field.

I picked mine years ago when the same guy running Fatwallet ran Fatbonus. Just thought it was different and it has stuck with me for over a decade. Funny thing is I'm not a greedy person and have always been a lowroller except on very few occasions.

This nic is only used regarding OLG. I use something else for other talk forums.

Didn't like my real name so I changed it from Glory to gloria and then added my age when i first started online gambling...lol

And you don't look a day over 440.:D
I'm sorry. It was just sitting there. I couldn't help myself.

Mine...When I was a kid I loved Jim Stafford, but Wild Wood Weed was too long to type.

All I can say to this is God Bless you! As a mom of 2 I lose my sanity!:p

My name is a Girl Scout Cookie.

Lived in Philadelphia. Born & raised city gal. Moved to the burbs and the delicious caramel coconut GS cookie known as Samoas in the city was marketed in the suburbs as Caramel Delights! My hick/stick friends made fun of me about the "bogus" Samoas until I proved them wrong and showed them a box with the name I purchased in Center City.

pfffft! High Maintenance! So not my style.;)

Awesome topic Gremmy!

Play me a song mister...

Probly the oldest member here I reckon...
Born in 1944.
Started having piano lessons the year before Billy Joel was even born. What became his great hit was MY nickname long before he composed that billion dollar song.
I got paid too.
Pianoman? Entertained the drunks for 20 years... ;)

But starting my lil website in 1998 with a name like Pianoman?
No way this Aussie Piano Advisor could get found in web searches with millions of Sheet Music buyers looking for that song title.
Ol Pianoman here rethunk it - changed costume and became "OzPianoman" instead.
Would they ever find the website?
(I Still DON'T Sell PIANOS) Who knows how it happened :what:

Google liked me. Yahoo liked me.
Things were different then; Now you have to pay em!
Curious people phoned however - and/or they sent me emails from Alaska, Ireland, San Diego, Darwin, South Africa.
Was becoming world famous mate.

Hey! Now there's an idea !!!
What about "The WORLD FAMOUS Piano Advisory" ?
Seems that actually worked ...
Even "ozpianoman" is now a big name on Google. (try it, you'll see)

And here in Oz?
Well mate - here they just call me Pianoman :)

Regulars know my passion for animals= colly comes from the beautiful old border collie cross I had when i started gambling- her picture was my avatar at WOL. Alas she is no more (but lasted to the ripe old age of 17yrs!) Now have three rescued beasties but it would take far to long to change the name and far to long to type it!

Cheers'

Very long story behind mine but in brief, I used to do alot of online gaming, namely Counter Strike, so needed a good unique name that people would remember. Not a clue how I thought of it but if you google Rhyzz, you'll find me and some Japanese singer person who came long after me! I'm the original and have proof - I own [email protected], oldschool! Haha.
