Your Smart Home

So, just curious who has done any smart home additions.

Some people are full-on tech warriors, with the whole 9 yards, like lights, tv, thermostat, doorbell, locks, appliances etc while others might just have grabbed an alexa or google assistant, hub, speaker set or maybe a light bulb or 2.
Or just yell at the phone
Others still, will be like, uh, noooo, the government (or reptiles) hear enough, tyvm

Here, just the google mini and all the lights though just grabbed a portable smart speaker for the hot tub for tunes on demand.

For me, it's convenience of 2 things; dogs are always in and out and have learned to open the sliding glass and come and go but I like to yell to turn on/off the deck light, along with the overhead light from day to night, and for the purpose of listening to what I feel like 'at the moment'.
It's handy when I can't find the damn phone either.

Others?

LOL...I have creepy Alexa and a few lights which change colour if I tell her, like 'Alexa - lights blue' sort of thing. The heating has smart thermostats on most radiators which are controlled by an app on our phones, smart electricity device in lounge to remind me how skint we will be if not careful lol

Have a smart TV which I haven't linked up to Alexa yet, but it's linked via ethernet to our media company so can do all kinds of pointless things too, and of course can get Alexa to read me my books on Kindle via my Prime accounts or play music.

Try as might I can't find any device or app that effectively works when I say 'Missus, silent! or will cut power when it recognizes A*t & D*c or their gibberish on any audio-visual devices.

The cats are chipped and have a smart cat flap to let them in. That's it really.

Idk about making everything dependent on power, or poorly coded software.
When i open my door, i use a good old key. Incase of power failure or bugs in software im not locked out.
Google speakers i wouldnt trust, since its proven google listens to conversations, and show relevant Ads. Not that i talk about anything secret, but still..
I feel everything is smoothly being put into our home, while the big corps gets more and more information and knowledge about everyone.
And dont get me wrong, im no tinfoiler and i love tech and gadgets. My problem is peoples lack of abilities to be critical and question themself if they want to give that power to Google etc.

free casino moo so grabbed 2 google nests; more for mom, trying to make her life easier so she can scream at the lights and hands free phone and a few more smart lights...I think that's it...cant see any need for anything else...smart locks and security cam/doorbell might be nice toys
but it's Canada, not like the door's ever locked and this pretty much guarantees aint noone walking into my house that expects to walk back out
