WTF is wrong with people today???

Yeah, saw that at work the other day.

By the sounds of things suggest there was drug influence involved but even then, I would like to think the subconscious mind would prevent you from doing something like this.

On a lighter side, babies for sale have been a common internet meme for sometime, see below:

jesus-is-that-baby-for-sale.jpg

I heard about this.
Quite a shocking story, I must say.
And, even more so, because I just happened to live in that very same city of Salinas for like 8 years, up until a year and a half ago.
And... of course I shopped at that Wal Mart.
I think my mind might have froze, if I were to be approached like those ladies were, who I consider to be - "Heroes".

Aside from that particular story, Salinas is a city that has gone terribly bad.
Law enforcement is scarce, and the city is filled with drugs and horrific violence.

A shame, as it was once a beautiful city, that sits only about 15 minutes away from the Monterey Bay......

Lets face it. We re the wealthiest, strongest, mighgiest, most technology advanced etc Nation in the universe BUT we are the most f%^&$dd up nation in the universe also!! BTW, we are corrupt but we are far from the worse except for probably Chicago

See, that's part of the reason the world is the way it is today. No offense, skiny, but c'mon...they're selling a HUMAN baby, and you're cracking jokes about it. Earth to skiny.....

And GOOD, that idiot got what he deserved. It would have been too easy for him if they ended up killing him. Let him suffer.

I have no idea what drugs go for? But doesn't $25 seem a bit low? What can you get for $25 drug wise? The video didn't work for me and the story didn't say. What would they have got? A hit of heroin/cocaine/pills?

So here are 2 people craving drugs and one says to the other, hey, I got an idea, lets sell little Sally???

How do you think that conversation went?

I know cravings, but strong enough to sell your child??????????????????????

They should be checked out by a doctor, something is SERIOUSLY wrong with these two. Even if your under the influence of drugs, you still have morals, know right from wrong, ya know?

SICK!!!

Yes, $25 is very low for them to buy anything to last more than a few minutes. Maybe a quarter of a gram of meth..?
Personally, I think they should just lock them up and throw away the keys.

Something else came to my mind when I was thinking about this whole thing.
I don't know if anyone else could make sense of what I am going to say....
But, if I were to have been approached, I may have given them the $25 just so I could get the baby out of their hands and to a safe place.... but, knowing me and my stupid luck, at times... I would have been the one to get arrested

I never thought of that! That would a good thing to do...but like you said, what if they were undercover cops of something, and then you get put away for life for trying to help.

Hmmmm...get high for a few minutes and sell my baby, or get off drugs and take care of my baby? Tough choice.

*I'm not saying if they could get high for weeks for $25 it would be ok, I just thought that seemed kinda low to get drugs.*

Do you really believe that my slightly annoying knack for finding some smart ass response to pretty much everything I read is capable of making anyone on this planet desperate enough to sell their own child for any amount of money or for any reason? If you remove every smart alec on the face of the earth people would still be screwed up. People would still be addicts, murders and molesters. Maybe my joke wasn't tasteful but it certainly didn't cause or add to the darker side of the human equation.

Now lets look at this from a different point of view. The act of trying to sell this child may have been a sad situation but it most certainly was not a bad thing in itself. In trying to sell the child the authorities became aware of the situation the child was in. Any parent willing to part with a child for sale or otherwise obviously has no concern for the child and the child is much better off with people who will give it the proper care and attention he or she needs.

Hopefully the parents will get help as well for their addiction but the priority is the child's welfare.

:what:

And what if a pedophile happened upon them first and bought the baby?

But I do get what you're saying....at least now hopefully the child will find a loving home. I'm sure that this will stir up a ton of publicity, and people will be swarming in to adopt the child once the parents lose custody - forever.

Or a hungry ogre could have showed up with 25 bucks ate it for lunch but it didn't. And we knew it didn't. And we knew the child was in protective care. Now if you had posted a story about a pedophile getting near a child or an ogre eating one I wouldn't have made a joke.

Are you picking up where bernynhel left off?

Can't have an intelligent conversation around here, anymore, I guess.

Yeah we aren't the best but we aren't the worst either.
Awful shit happens EVERYWHERE.
Couple in Asia lets their baby starve to death while raising a virtual baby, ritual genital mutilation in some parts of Africa, marrying 12 year olds off to old men in the Middle East (Oh and let's throw acid in schoolgirls faces, how dare they try to become educated), and let's not forget all the wonderful things done in the name of some religions!

So yeah, USA has it's of issues to be sure, but I don't think everyplace else is "above it all".

PS-Lol btw, are we really the wealthiest? Dubai seems to just be dripping in moolah...but I don't know the stats. And as for being the most advanced if we keep letting the states decide what gets taught in schools in this country don't count on that continuing, selective education is NOT education.
*Sigh*

PPS- And omg I didn't even mention the things that go on in Congo, Darfur...shit I could go on ALL night :(.

This just made me sick, not just as a mother, but as a human being. All children are a gift as there are couples that cant have any of their own and wait forever on lists for a child to love and raise, i hope this child gets one of those parents as this child deserves so much more than what life has handed it so far.

That is a sad situation :( . The parents could careless about that poor child, and I wonder how it was treated before all of this happened. Poor baby. I hope it gets a loving home and family.

Unfortunately this kind of story doesn't surprise me too much. Quite a long time ago I had a...let's say "business acquaintance"...who sold crystal meth. He used to have these desperate people show up and offer all sorts of things when they were jonesing, from physical things to 'physical things' if you get my meaning. Some he took and some he didn't - by the end of our relationship his house looked like a pawn shop, and when people had nothing of value left he'd occasionally even take groceries or household items in payment.

I remember once being over there and he had these 3 big packs of disposable diapers. I was like, "What's that all about?" cause he was a single guy, and he told me someone didn't have anything else to pay him with so he did this as a 'favor' to her. And the next day when she had nothing else, she wanted him to take her baby as collateral for the next hit. But even he drew the line at that - not because he was a decent guy, but because the baby would have cost him money.

I don't know if this story was the same kind of drug situation or not. But if they were tweakers and hadn't already hocked their computer they could possibly have found some pervert online who would have taken them up on that sale. So I'm thankful it only ended up with the baby in care, it could have been a whole lot worse.

I don't want to start a whole religious war here...BUT...this is what makes me question if there is really a God? This is a baby that has done nothing wrong in her/his short life, but gets parents like these??? Would your
God do this? Mine certainly wouldn't.

(not directed at Laurie of course, just posting my thoughts, and quoting that one sentence)

Maybe it was God that led the two women who were approached by the parent to call the police and have this innocent baby taken away from this bad environment?

Now the baby will most likely grow up in a happy home where he or she will be loved.

I do understand though why bad things like this force us to question God, but I try to have faith and understanding that God will not let us suffer more than we can take.

He has always been there for me when I feel like I cannot take anymore and I have been through a lot.

It's just sick what people will do.

Next you will hear some @ selling a child at Foxwoods or the Mohegan Sun Casino or any other land based casino so they can get extra cash so they can get a few bucks to gamble with.

And it's sad to even hear about the many times they left a child in the car so they can go inside to gamble.

Sad Sad Sad

On the other hand , there are children of wealth that have everything handed to them from birth and also suffer from the hands of abusive parents, they go on to have children of their own and the cycle continues, just as it does in the poorest and modest income families.

Its how we teach our children, its up to parents, aunts, uncles and extended family to watch out for those lil ones, if you know of a child being abused and neglected, its our responsibility as a human race to try to do something, if we do nothing then the cycle goes on and these stories will keep appearing as sad as it is.

As far as God goes, its hard to not question the works of any respected being that we worship, for every reason there is a season and we are shown a path, from that path its up to us as to how we will travel it. As a christian, i believe these ladies were sent on a special path to rescue this child, some call it karma or fate, i call it Gods devine intervention, this is just my opinion only.

All I ever get offered in the Wally World parking lot are Fresh Tamales.

Crankers and Tweakers... I used to live in one of the biggest crank areas in the USA. I lost all my life long friends to this crap... watched my friends turn into little old toothless people that would sell themselves or anything they could get their hands on for another 8ball.

Watched it all happen right in front of me. The suffering was not just theirs, their families still suffer everyday... their children and now their grandchildren are being raised by the state in loveless homes where abuse, violence and crank is rampant.
Another generation ruined... by this truly evil drug.

No loving god would allow that, only a truly hateful god would allow this to go on generation after generation.

God gave us the freedom of choice and that is why bad things happen- because some people make bad choices.

If God didn't let us have the choice to decide between good and evil and we were all forced to do his will, everyone would be mad that he was controlling us.

I still cannot understand how people could ever even want to act this way. I try to put myself in other people's shoes but there is just no way I could ever understand why someone would want to sell their child for any amount of money. My kids are my life and I couldn't live without them.

I also wanted to add that when I was little I got an adorable little puppy from a lady standing outside a Wal Mart. His name was Bubba King!
