Will NETENT return?

So we all know Netent pulled out of the Canadian market. And that Canada has always been viewed as 'grey' (is online gambling legal? Is it illegal?)

However with Canada embracing online gambling with it's own government run sites (PlayOLG and it's BC brethren) will NETENT ever welcome us back?

Judging from my last run of Net Entertainment (ask Billy Bonanza), I don’t really miss them.

What I’d like to see is WMS slots at PlayOLG or, better yet, the lineup PlayNow has. Probably won’t start happening until Kathleen Wynne is booted out of Queen’s Park but I’m not holding my breath.

We need private casinos in Canada. These government ones suck and yet people keep throwing their money into 85% slots due to ignorance.

Last time I played netent I had a great time. I found a casino that still offered them and was legit and was able to stream it on twitch. And I had some good hits including a 1000x on COTBL. I have also had some really big wins on DOA. I know alot of people here think they suck but I do miss them. Its not like I would just have netent slot sessions but I liked being to play a bunch of different providers in a session.

Them pulling out makes no sense at all and they should know that by now. We play a whole tonne of other slots and its completely fine. Same with novo's. WMS I understand at least because they have a deal with out land based casinos but Novomatic and netent is completely senseless. I dont see how they dont sit there and think hey they are playing BTG, thunderkick, blue print, microgaming etc etc etc I guess it is fine. And its not like our government asked them to stop.

I think they are just being drama queens to be honest.

Same here. :( Nicola did ask them and they said it was not "viable" at this time whatever that means as we were/are one of their biggest markets so it makes no sense not to let us play.
Not " viable" would imply that the Canadian market would not be financially beneficial for them. Whether that is because there isnt enough players demographically as we are assuming there might be, as oppose to the EU and UK? And our dollar would make them lose money?

I think it has more to do with them wanting to establish themselves in casinos in North America

There is this from netent

Today, the majority of NetEnt’s customers are located in Europe and the Company will continue to focus on the European market, but expansion into North America is also expected to contribute to long-term growth. In the US, a few states have opened for online gaming: Nevada (poker), Delaware (all games) and New Jersey (all games). Political steps towards reregulation have also been taken in other states, for example in Pennsylvania and Illinois. NetEnt has applied for a license in New Jersey and has been granted transactional waivers to launch games with several operators in the state, while its full license application is being reviewed. NetEnt is continuously monitoring developments in other US states that are close to regulating and the Company intends to launch its products on these markets if the conditions are right. In Canada, the market is regulated and open for online casino in several provinces such as Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec. As a first step to enter Canada, NetEnt has applied for and obtained a license in British Columbia.

So they have to apply to each province instead of Canada as a whole. Interesting.

Very sad to visit Hard Rock on Family Day and see nothing but seniors. It’s just a glorified old age home. Why aren’t the kids of these seniors not spending time with them today? Just another reason why I loathe OLG, AGCO and the provincial government of Ontario. Nothing but exploitation going on.

Ummm is it Hard Rock now? Have they done any work as I can't find any updates about it as I have the 1st week of May off and was looking at going back to Ottawa as a option for a casino trip.

Lac Leamy is a close drive

I understand that you are busy, but a quick reply would be nice! You keep contact with your mother, even if its once a month. Anything could be happening and you would not know.
Im an empty nester of one month now. I will be damned if I let my kids get away with that! I know where they work. :p:D

Yeah, they have gaming tables on the floor now. They're still renovating but they might be done by May. However, as dionysus mentioned, Casino Lac Leamy is the better choice. Sady, the locals have been awful to start 2018. 3 busts and a draw.

There are already plenty of online casinos that welcome Canadians with open arms. Because PlayNow is an absolute joke they have to rely on fear mongering in order to acquire their customers. They insist they are the only legal online casino in BC. Of course they are. Legally they are the only entity allowed to operate a casino in BC. That doesn't mean there are tons of far better online casinos we can choose to play at. That's the part they don't tell you. In fact, a fair number of "offshore" casinos actually operate out of the Kahnawake data centre near Montreal, so they are still on Canadian soil. At least partly.

So it is partly ignorance of players who don't know better... and partly the fear mongering of a horrible and greedy government entity trying to maintain a monopoly.

@BSC

People in Ontario would much rather gamble at PlayNow than PlayOLG. Their selection of slots includes all the SG favourites. The only exclusive Ontario has is Dragon’s Temple and I have made $150 profit on it. Actually up $350 on their shitty casino in 2018.

The new NetEnt Lost Relics I'm able to open and play for real money on Videoslots. I guess I should keep my mouth shut but maybe some of us Canadians can take advantage of this until Dan finds out:D or maybe I'm hoping this is not an error.
