After requesting a withdrawal to bitcoin the casino says they need to know the exchange the address is with.
Why would they need to know that? Do they report the deposit to the exchange as gambling winnings?
Would an exchange ever share your personal data with them? Surely not?
Anyone know?

It might be because some/(most?) exchanges ban transactions to and from online casinos. They might be checking this first before making the withdrawal?

I had a similar situation but with Revolut. They asked me about the type of wallet i'm sending to, and if it's an exchange then which one.

I think it's because for them is easier to narrow things down incase some illegal things happen, etc. But a casino asking about such things sounds odd.

How would they know? Surely it's just a wallet address, I thought that was the whole point of crypto is that it's very hard to detect where payments are made to and from?

Unless I’m mistaken, you’ll find posts on here from a few that had their exchange accounts closed for sending to or receiving from online casinos. I don’t know how the exchanges know, sorry.

Quite, if anything if you use crypto to deposit or to receive funds to, do NOT tell your exchange that it is an online gambling transaction. A sure fire way of getting your wallet closed down...
Even better, use a local intermediary wallet to store your coins, and for transfers to and from online casinos.

So just tell them it's a private wallet, has anyone had that backfire somehow? I don't like lying about stuff but nor do I want my crypto account shutdown! - the question is, could the casino be informing the exchange that it's a gambling transaction?

I am playing on a few casinos with crypto, they never asked anything like that, but now when I am thinking, maybe they're making sure you don't withdraw that money to a some illicit wallet, been reading a lot lately about how companies are trying to stay clean by not accepting deposits from addresses reported for different negative things. Btw, I withdraw to my wallets on binance, nobody cares, I have no problems.
