Why can't USA play

I have a question that has been on my mind. Why can't USA play at some casino's? Is it because the casino's will not let us or is it something behind the decision

Basically it's not illegal for them to offer you games or for you as an American to play at them, but it's unlawful in most states for banks or card companies to process online gaming transactions. So the casinos have a problem paying you, plus they may want to keep on the good side of the US authorities for the future when it becomes legalized in more states. It's basically a form of protectionism.

Please note that this is SLOWLY changing but the regulations on this are still very tight.

I remember the day when U.S. could play a lot more. It had something to do with a senator spearheading a campaign to illegalize it, I thought. But maybe that was just for poker.

The UIGEA which made it illegal for USA banks to process unlawful (non regulated off shore) gambling transactions remains in effect. Decent article at Wiki

. This is why USA facing casinos use processors that work around the regulation. That regulation is also why if our debit card shows some strange transactions we're not sure of we try to get the casinos to clear it up and try to keep our banks out of it.

This is all true but it is still changing, gamling is becoming more and more legal because it is a personal choice. But it is going to be highly regulated and you know the government wants their portion because they just have to butt into people's personal lives and get every penny they can out of people. Cheap skates.

I'd like to see the real figures for how many millions the gov confiscated and kept from the likes of NETeller, other ewallets, and processors and the scam processor they themselves set up as a 'sting'.

Well, you can bet they didnt destroy that much money as they claim to do. It went to the government probably. Unless someone can provide me visual undisputed proof that is not what happened wont change my mind.

I agree with what the other posters said.

The United States is still plagued by congressional, national, legislative and pseudo-moralistic issues. Although some states like Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey have regulated it, as a whole the country is still losing billions of dollars worth of income that could benefit its economy. Using a computer to place a wager online is not a social ill.

The so-called ”moral lobby” is one of the main reasons why online gambling has not been legalised in the United States. Even though the AGA and the gambling lobby has seen the light, this loosly structured group continues to propagate what they call the ”moral dangers” of gambling. They are made up of religious groups, self-styled populists who’s intention is to save the American public. Yet when it comes to raising money for their futile efforts then gambling is good enough.

FYI while you can play at most Real Time Gaming casinos (the largest provider to the US currently) and many of the above posts are correct. When the UIGA was passed software providers such as PlayTech and Microgaming pulled all of their casinos from accepting US players. Now the regulations have softened a bit, but they still view it as a risk as the online gambling laws are very unclear in the US (not at all black and white, ask two lawyers one question and you will get two answers).

That is the short answer to the question.

LOL you can ask any person one question and you will get a different answer not just from attorneys. It appears laws are now open to individual interpretation. Which reminds me that there are so many laws on the books that any person in any given day has committed at least 1 felony. Are they going to charge every person? No they are just going to try and go after the big fish in a very small pond:cool:

The interesting thing is that often the same people who complain about restrictions will then vote for the same pompous politicians who implement the restrictions. There is something very strange about the psyche of American voters who vote against their own interest. Some type of pleasure in self inflicted pain. It's amazingly sad.

For those of you players who are in New Jersey, we have an Accredited Casino listed there:
https://www.casinomeister.com/goto/?c=borgatacasino

And here is their review:

The US is still in a messed up situation with no end in site. Too many people want a piece of the pie, and no one can agree on how to do it. Self serving politicians and lobbyists control the puppet strings there - not the people.

The fact that the site (Borgata) has no withdrawal limits and that withdrawals could be made over weekends bodes well.

Just read an article over at CalvinAyre that Borgata just signed up Net Entertainment to provide some of its games.
