I noticed the news report was brought to us by ITN, an independent UK news broadcaster and not the government backed B.B.C. (no surprise there then  ), if I want to know what is really going on in the world I avoid the B.B.C. (the largest gatherer of world news in the world) and any station owned by SKY, like the plague.

    Thanks for sharing.

I hope this trend doesn't end here ... Hope people use social media to rub out racism, discrimination and injustice as much as we can. It's time for evolution to kick in!

All of this is becoming a far to common pattern, create a dictator>arm them to the teeth>slowly release some media related details about them and the atrocities they commit>insteps NATO etc and enforces Western style democracy on them>profit.

I`ll step back and see how this progresses.

Seriously, when the fuck is the rest of the world going to wake upto this and take a long deep smell of the coffee?.

No surprise that the American troops are on standby waiting to be deployed once again to bring about peace :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:.

How much oil does Uganda have?

Oil seems to be the main driver of whether atrocities are dealt with harshly.

Libya - plenty of oil, but dictator announces that the revolution is to be put down by killing civilians. Straight away, airstrikes are authorised to prevent such a massacre.

Syria, despot ACTUALLY starts murdering and torturing civilians to quell unrest, the western nations sit back and watch, expecting "nature to take it's course" and the despot to be overthrown.

Iran, sabre rattling about being ready to go in just because they MIGHT have the bomb, and are announcing that they have the same rights to proceed in developing one as does any other nation. Plus of course, loads of oil.

North Korea, probably the worst of all, they HAVE the bomb, AND the missiles needed. They have allowed millions of civilians to die whilst the leaders live a life of luxury, repeatedly threaten to invade South Korea to "unite the country". For them, nothing but rhetoric, but of course, no oil to be had, and a very expensive aid program likely were any action to succeed.

Many dictators stay in place because they have bribed the rest of the world with their cheap oil, a supply likely to be interrupted should there be a regime change, even to one of democracy.

It`s not just oil You must register/login in order to see the link., and as far as the civil unrest goes how much is procured by the West?, anyone have a reasonable explanation as to why members of the SAS dressed as Arabs were arrested just prior to the unrest in Libya?...You must register/login in order to see the link., not the 1st time members from this elite squad have been caught poking their noses into the middle Eastern volatile countries.

Iran and WMD`s, why the hell was Bush Sr supplying arms to both Iran and Iraq if they were that concerned about their impending war machine going into motion?.

It used to be very much about oil, now it`s everything including class `A` drugs, the CIA have pretty much had the stranglehold over cocaine since they assassinated the man and his cartel responsible for producing over 80% of the worlds cocaine (Pablo Escobar), now things are looking good for their huge slice of the heroin pie.

As far as "Looking out for the little guy" NATO bollox goes, where was the world police squad when China invaded Tibet? or Russia invading Afghanistan (apart from the CIA created Al Qaeda) to name just two of the savage atrocities we turned a blind eye to.

Back on point, I have to say that I kinda like the idea of using today's global communication wonders to make an evil bastard or two notorious and place their deeds on record.

God knows there are enough of them.

China is BIG, and has much of the West by the balls, so little chance of anything more then rhetoric. There were not even any sanctions, again because China is propping up the US defecit by buying dollars and investing in US bonds. Inflation is kept in check because of imports from China.

This is in stark contrast to the first gulf war, triggered when Iraq invaded Quwait because they insisted, much like China, that it was part of their country, and should not be allowed to break away and be recognised as an independent state. Quwait also had loads of oil.

I though it was the Congo that had the vast mineral wealth in Africa.

Action may not take place if despite the crimes, a dictator allows easy access to outside companies to exploit the mineral weath and the locals, and only have to pay a few kickbacks to high ranking officials. As the situation in Uganda has been "off the radar" until recently, there has been no public pressure to do much about these warlords. Even if there were, it would take a long time because all the vested interests would have to agree via the UN and/or NATO. The Iraq war (the second one) is often said to be "illegal" because it was NOT sanctioned by a UN resolution, instead, the US decided to go it alone and rope in as many allies as it could. This is how Britain got involved, Blair wanting to suck up to Bush because of this "special relationship", whereas many EU countries were not convinced, and would only assist when there was a proper UN resolution.

The US thought it would be quick, and they would have their "I told you so" moment when they discovered all these weapons that the inspectors never managed to find. 10 years later, and no WMD, it is those who didn't get involved saying "told you so". This revealed Saddam as nothing more than a bog standard "evil dictator", just like many others who have since been allowed to get away with the same abuses without suffering an allied invasion and regime change.

The "Arab Spring" revolts must have been a convenient opportunity for the secret services of a few countries, who realised that rather than struggle through UN resolutions and sanctions, all that was needed was to ensure that the revolutions were successful. This would be a logical reason to find agents from the likes of the SAS and CIA in such places, probably involved in some covert operation that was never supposed to come to light.

I don`t want to derail any longer even though some of the best political debates here are the results of derails. Some may ask why I fly off the handle at certain political aspects, here`s why - Over the past 10-20 years there have been certain world events, mainly arising from Muslim religious fundamentalists, religious fanatics so intense in their devotion to the Koran they would die without questioning the cause, the same Koran that clearly states no women or children must be harmed for the sake of a Holy (Jihad) war, i`m not stating that the final outcome of this thread will be Muslim based, far from it, but it already has the tell tale signs of a well sculptured incident, I 1st started doing my own research after the Lockerbie disaster and have kept a beady eye on every single incident since.

You will often hear me mention media manipulation hence my staunch stance on the age old adage `Believe none of what you hear, and half of what you see`, @VWM I know you are a very intelligent guy and I would like you to have a good read from this link, which in-turn is a damn good pointer to everyone following this thread also You must register/login in order to see the link.

Once you get the bit between the teeth many doors will open, and believe me it`s not pretty, and it`s fully understandable why people fear walking down this road.
