Vegas Frontier and FortuneLounge Spam

Casinomeister said:
As I mentioned before, anyone who is receiving these spam mails unwarrantedly needs to contact either me, Andrew Beveridge at eCOGRA [email protected], or both.

I thought everyone was receiving these emails. I have them on both email accounts I use for casinos.

I'm experimenting with the "unsubscribe" function. It works differently for the three different Bercovitz spams on behalf of Fortune lounge casinos I've received, which is strange.

*One said I'd get an automatically generated email with a link I'd have to click; it never came.

*One said I'd get an automatically generated email with a link I'd have to click; said email came; clicked said link; got confirmation page; we'll see if the spam for that casino stops.

*One just gave me confirmation page that said the spam would stop in 72 hours. We'll see if spam for that casino stops.

I have to go through this circus for every single one of Fortune Lounge's casinos and of course the possibility exists that Bercovitz will just send me more spam for other casinos of other groups that don't even offer the pretence of avoiding spam. I will keep you all posted if that is the case.

I urge players and webmasters who have been getting this spam and want it to stop to notify Bryan and ECOGRA. If you don't complain, nothing will be done. Don't forward the spam itself; it may be caught in spam filters. Just send an email with the clear statement "I want no more marketing email from Slickstreet Marketing/Shaun Bercovitz/casinoprophet.com and all affiliated sites" and include all the email addresses you want shielded.

You guys know the drill. Power in numbers.

We are complaining enough as it is now. Fortune Lounge sees all of this and should stop it hands down. There is no excuse for this. It is unsolictied spam. I never subscribed to any of this ever. I shouldn't have to click links, wait for confirmation emails, and jump through some circus to make it stop. Bryan shouldn't even have to be involved in this. FL should see this and put a stop to it instantly. They are wasting my time, his, and ecorga with all this nonsense. They need to get in here and deal with this on their own.

The unsubscribe feature doesn't work. I know this. I am now getting new spam. So what is next? I send my email addresess to someone so I can be manually removed? I don't find it as acceptable. If I can't unsubscribe and I am getting new spam, then it's only going to continue.

I look to the future with these things. If FL doesn't stop this completely then what message are they sending to other spammers out there. That it's acceptable to spam for them (FL) without penalty? I will just get new spam soon from another person because they know FL will allow it to happen. I will get off this list and be on another.

While I fully agree with and support your sentiment, I believe that eCOGRA requires more information in order to provide concrete evidence, as well as to measure the scale of the spam mailings. I also haven't forwarded any emails to eCOGRA yet - but all future emails will be forwarded.

Spear and Mary are right - one of the *rationalisations* that FL is using is that there have only been two complaints.

Whilst I empathise completely with inthedesert's sentiments above, the message needs to get more specific than forum postings to get responsible groups to pressure FL into stopping this flood of unwanted spam.

I would therefore join my voice to Mary and Spear and urge all players being subjected to unwanted spam to email in complaints to Bryan and eCOGRA. Here are the email addresses you can use:

[email protected]

[email protected]

I have already contacted Andrew and will see what road that will take. I will see if Andrew wants them forwarded over to him. I don't know what Bryan's position is on forwarding emails. I do get quite a few here and there. I can shoot off just the email addresses if need be or whatever is required.

I am not trying to detour anyone from going down the right path on this. I just don't want to be "unsubscribed" and would rather Fortune Lounge stop it completely for the reasons I already stated. To "unsubscribe" is a temporary fix for what will be in the end a bigger problem.

I will do my part on this though, and try to help as suggested :)

I don't think forwarding the spam itself is a good idea. We did that already, and spam filters killed it. I don't want to see more "I sent it" "I didn't get it" "I did too send it" "Well I didn't get it send it again" "You're a moron" exchanges.

Just email your request, maybe the subject line, return address and date to identify the specific spam, and the email addresses you want off the list.

I think it may also be helpful to include how many FL spam messages you have been bombarded with (assuming you did not request same) in the past few weeks - that will help to assess the magnitude of the problem.

So far I've received one complaint. If I add Mary and Spear's complaints to this, then that makes three.

I'm beginning to think this is getting blown out of proportion. I agree the methods of this campaign are unorthodox, (weirdo domains, stupid spam messages, non-working links, claim of subscription, etc.), but the flood of complaints is not overwhelming.

I send a compaint to eCOGRA a week ago. I have received the following from Andrew Beveridge:

"We are definitely not in favour of spam, and I've been following the discussion on CasinoMeister closely. We're having discussions with the Fortune Lounge senior management to try to understand why this is happening, and what is going to be done about it. I do believe they are taking this issue very seriously".

This is not blown out of proportion. I have spam blockers and even a box filter on my accounts and still get several of these every day for months now.

Tell me where to forward the mess to and I will get going and stop deleting and start shooting them off.

I have complained in this thread, at WOl, at CAP and to Fortune directly.

I'll pitch a bitch if you like, and I'll write to eCOGRA. I thought I had complained pretty loudly.

I agree. We all get spam there is no real way to avoid it. Getting many over the course of the day from the same person is not acceptable and unethical. There are only so many times in one day I need to hear about a new user signup bonus that I don't qualify for. This is beyond the point of being tolerated.

I have spam blockers and even a box filter on my accounts and still get several of these every day for months now.

This is also something I have a problem with. I even have mailwasher and was bouncing the emails back for a few weeks. That didn't even help me. These get by my spam blockers also.

I want this to stop without a chance for the door to become open for this spammer again. If you unsubscribe then at some point down the road it will start up again. This happened back in August. I unsubscribed and it stopped and he appeared again a month later. He bought a few new domain names and started up again because you unsubscribed from the past sending domain and not the new one he purchased.

Andrew is trying his best to handle I am sure. Sadly, I don't completely agree with his view. To say it's not a "practical solution" to stop the spammer but rather "clean up the list" by passing emails off to him is disturbing to me.

There are many domains that send this spam. I don't have a running count but I would say four. Does that (email removal) include all those domains? What happens when he buys a new one does my email go back onto that because it's a new domain? (yes, it already happened)

I have never been spammed this bad. To not completely put an end to it sends the wrong message to spammers. It says you can spam as much as you like to anyone without any recourse, rules, or boundries.

I got a new business idea. I am going to get a server, signup as an affiliate for FL, and then I am going to spam everyone ten times a day with offers. I might as well seeing Fortune Lounge allows it and nothing will happen to me. I could always use the extra money :D

No way this is blown out proportion. I get this crap daily. I've tried to unsubscribe either the link doesn't work the times the link has worked it doesn't unsubscribe my email address. Just like I said earlier in this thread I haven't depositted a dime with FL and won't until this $hit stops.

GOOD GRIEF PEOPLE !!!!

Bryan has asked often enough for you to pass on your complaints.

Then to actually ask where to send this to, is simply rediculous and if you do not pass them on to where he asked you to, what else is he supposed to think?

READ PEOPLE - READ !!!

I do not receive these emails (Luckily) - however, it is a problem if you guys are. Bryan is trying his best to get to the bottom of this, but if you do not do as he asked, then there is not much more he can do for you.

Just jumping in here on a Sunday.

Posting complaints in forums is fine and dandy, but I can't use this. I NEED your complaint via email. No, I don't want you to forward me 100s of spam mails - I just want you to tell me the email address that is being spammed, and if you have success "unsubscribing" to the spam.

Four days ago, I asked people to complain directly to me. Only one person has done this so far, so why shouldn't I feel that this is being blown out of proportion? This is why it is important to make direct contact. Posting in forums don't cut it.

I guess I can count Spear, Mary, Dominique, paul02085, and erp1's, but no one has given me the information that I need.

I need:
1. Email address that is being spammed
2. Have you unsubscribed? Yes or no.
3. Do you still receive them after being "unsuscribed"? Yes or no.

And please don't bs me on the unsubscription. Thanks!

GM, that's not my real email address, but it's good to point that out if anybody else JOINS ME IN MY PAIN!

Three more this afternoon....

Let me emphasize some points:

*I am not complaining about real opt-in emailings. I get the casino's newsletter for their members and I'm ok with that.

*I have tried to unsubscribe via the provided links. It may or may not have had the effect of multiplying my torment. It certainly hasn't stopped it.

*I am forwarding them all to [email protected]
I have yet to receive the courtesy of a reply to my email, but perhaps things are getting a bit flooded there.

*I've sent them to the [email protected] address as well. No replies from that address and of course it has had no effect.

*This has been going on in increasing severity for several months. Fortune lounge representatives have made statements in several fora that this problem would be fixed. This clearly has not happened.
mary just do like me i dont unsubscibe i just delete them ,,after 2 or 3 they stopped totally

I asked the VPOPS to get me off the mailing lists. It took about a month and I was free of this spam for two weeks, but it started again today.

Bryan,

1. [email protected]

2. yes I clicked the links provided to unsubscribe and they either did not work (404 error that no page existed) or told that I would receive one more email to confirm my request (which never arrived)

3. yes, until I turned the whole mess over to [email protected] with the request that they help me, then PRESTO.....two days later the spam stopped and has never returned.

No bs.

*For the first few months, I just deleted them. They kept coming and multiplied.

*I've tried the "unsubscribe" link three times with three different results, including no response (from casinoprophet) and a response from Vegas Villa, but as you can see from yesterday's spam that is not being honored.

*I've forwarded them to [email protected], they still are coming; what did you say in your email Suze that got AOL's attention?

*I forwarded fifteen emails to vpops; vpsops didn't get them because of his/her own spam filter

*I've emailed Andrew; time hasn't run out on that yet.

*I've forwarded them to [email protected], they still are coming; what did you say in your email Suze that got AOL's attention?

Mary, I forwarded one of the emails from "123skidoo" to [email protected] with this note:

Dear AOL,

I have tried to unsubscribe from this email list many many times. Although the unsubcribe appears to go through, I still get these emails. One of the many problems is that a popup screen tells me that I will get one more email to confirm my request to unsubscribe, yet that email never comes, but more of this lousy spam.

Please, can you help?

Mary, hope this helps.

PS. I have been an AOL member for about 11 years.

Thanks Spear........ever since AOL won its lawsuit against a spammer last year, and probably before that time, they have been extremely proactive against spam. Now if only the spammers would get the clue.

I've just forwarded the complaints I've received at Casinomeister - all three of them.

Remember, I can't track these things unless you file a PAB. It gives me all of the information that I need, and I keep these on file.

I'm not going to waste my time looking under stones for problems, and it makes it a lot easier for me if you'd just PAB. If you feel something needs to be done about this then get with the program.

This is the final request. Thanks!

Today I received a email saying that I would be removed from the spammers email list by the end of the day. I did contact Andrew and yesterday he told me he would forward my information to the CEO of FL. So hopefully it's the end of this crap for me.

Not sure what this means. Seeing as how this block verification email admits that I was already blocked, and you guys can all see how little that stopped the flood of casinoprophet.com, 123skiddoo, 123rickey spam...

something different anyway.

I keep getting this e-mail, too. Funny thing is, e-mail to [email protected] just bounces back.

I got it too, and it says I had previously unsubscribed on Sept. 22 - and I have copies of that as well.

However - I have never clicked any unsubscribe links. It appears Fortune is making very half-hearted attempts to have certain addresses removed.

Oh and by the way, don't credit me, credit Jetset instead, as well as Andrew and Bryan. I'm just one of those loud-mouthed people who bitches and moans until they get sick and tired of me.

Only five days without spam from FortuneLounge.

Today I received a spam mail that wanted me to sign up at Fortune Room - needless to say that I allready have an account at Fortune Room. The spam comes from Support Department <[email protected]>
34065 Mariner Way, Seattle, WA

The spam mail has too the following reference: Resavska 2811000 Beograd, Jugoslavija [email protected].
It could be someone else, you can only tell by looking at the affiliate tags, Shawn Berkovitz is not the only person spamming for FL. mplsdotcom.com is registered to someone in Israel, [email protected] is fake, .te is not a recognised top level domain.

One issue that has not missed in the webcast, is that Shawn Berkovitz is not an affiliate, the VPOPS of FL explained wrote several times that he is their publisher, whatever that means, and this is why the prohibition on spamming by affiliates does not apply to him. To me, being a publisher seems to imply a closer connection than just being a random affiliate, which makes FL more guilty.

There are two links in the spam mail.

One link directs to to "http://www.7-sultans.com/freetime/default.asp?BTag=MS_124170_490980_051138&link="

Another link directs to guidebest.com. The site is under construction.

The other spam mail I received was send from a seeming "reputable site" with an opt-out option

I don't really care if the spam mails are from Shown Berkovitz or some other evil spammers.

I'M JUST TIRED OF BEING A VICTIM OF OBVIOUSLY SYSTEMATIC USE OF SPAM FROM FORTUNE LOUNGE CASINOS

Spammers

I don't care what his official relationship is with them, common sense tells me that if he wasn't getting paid for it he wouldn't be doing it. Who else would pay him for FL signups, directly or indirectly? FL of course.

I didn't get any for a day, now it's 3 times as many. They try to disguise it with different "from" names but Outlook Express knows its them and sticks it in my junk folder since I have them on block sender.

A year or so ago FL had that unsubscribe link that didn't work. I had to change email addresses to get rid of it. I just have it all blocked now.

I'm still ok, no Fortune Lounge signup offers from third parties. If that changes, like it did for Grandmaster, I'll be sure to let everybody know.

There exists the possibility (and some may think I'm being unfair here, so be it) that other third party marketers (affiliates etc.) having seen no Fortune Lounge smackdown on Bercovitz will start also sending spam with their aff links.

Everyone who has a website is a publisher.

If you publish something on the web, you are a publisher and affiliate programs of all descriptions will refer to you as such.
