This is a daft poll but something I CAN NOT decide upon myself. It seems my ‘real life’ Friends have varying opinions too.

I insist on manners from all in our household so found it difficult to hear someone tell Alexa to ‘Stop!’

Yet again, I don’t say to my dog, “Titan please lie down.”

I don't thank my google mini for playing a song or turning off a light just as I don't thank the toaster for popping or the fridge for turning the light on when I open the door

I do accidentally thank the cash machine sometimes....which is embarrassing if there’s a queue....

Don't have Alexa etc but am S**T hot on manners, pet hate when people don't use them in day to day life. Can go from almost asleep to total rage, top one which springs to mind is when I let someone thru in traffic and they don't 'wave' or 'flash' (oo-er :p)

I also thank inanimate objects and pat the dashboard of the car "well done!" when it gets me successfully around my deliveries at work and safely home, sure more will come to mind as I think about it......

I'm always on the lookout for people's usage of good manners and polite verbal pleasantries.

On the whole, most are fairly reciprocal, like older people and single mums.

But if say I'll be holding the door open for some oik at the gym and am met with silence, I'll often take the initiative and say "thankyou" loud enough for the both of us

I abuse Alexa non-stop and frequently have one-sided arguments with her. "Alexa - 'bulb blue" when I want to change the lounge lights colour later at night. Nothing happens. "ALEXA BULB F*CKING BLUE!!!"
"Sorry, I did not understand that."
Grrrr….…..

Then 2 minutes later, I try again and she does it. I daren't use her for the Smart Heating and trust the phone app rather more, as no doubt to stitch me up, the horrid cow would set it at 25C all night to screw me up for higher bills.

The worst thing is when I make my Bonanza videos and shout out or something, and I hear the nosey bint pipe up in the other room, which considering I didn't say 'Alexa' really pisses me off. I bought her to speak when spoken to, and otherwise be quiet as in real life I failed to find a missus that could do the same.

I've been cheated.

lol, yeah, I might not thank it, but I've sworn at it often

Driving while almost asleep probably not the wisest idea @Jono777 . But you'll be pleased to know if you've ever given way for me you would have got a thank you. It gets on my tits if i don't recieve a thank you for doing it as well :)
I'll hold keep the door open for anyone if they are a few metres behind, or to give way if someone is coming in from the other side of it. If they dont say thank you they will get a 'no worries' or 'you're welcome'. If theyre at a bit of a distance from the door and say it's a senior lady with a walking stick so a bit slow, i might do a twirl as i open the door to take up some of the time before their arrival and give them a somewhat grander entrance.
As for the google talk thing. She's a strong cookie, either she hides back the tears or is simply unable to cry.

I am an old-timer. I don't use voice commands because I don't like that shit turned on in my household. I also tape over my laptop video cams. And I opt-out of face scans at the airport.

Me no like Orwellian environments.
