Things Casinos do that we hate

Casumo have prompted this thread with their ridiculous and excessive nagging to play their tournament.

Just an aside on that - why on earth would I play a real money tournament to win wager linked FS? No thanks.

But it reminded me that other casinos have these nagging sidebars which is something I hate, always turn them off. Anyone ever leave them on? If so, WHY?!

So, nagging sidebars is one.

My next one is being nagged when you log in to make a deposit. "You have zero funds, do you wish to make a deposit?" - Look, if i want to make a deposit, i will. Your nag won't make that more likely or convenient. A deposit is always just one click away to begin with.

All it does is irritate me when I'm not necessarily logging in to do that. I may be playing some FS or checking something. That being the case, you're forcing me to make a click i don't need to. On my trackpad on my laptop, that's a chore I could do without.

Another ploy I detest is cryptic clues for FS. I wanna play my FS not complete a damned crossword. Just tell me what I have and where.

Next on my (s)hitlist are very time limited offers. "Deposit before you finish work today and we'll give you something in return". NO! I WORK for a living, you aren't making your casino seem more appealing, you're alienating me as I'm excluded from an offer that others, probably many my taxes are funding can get.

Then there are the logins. Oh how we all love trying to remember 50 million passwords. Casino sites almost always do not allow the browser to correctly store login information even if we want them to. "It's for your own good" - let ME decide that. By virtue of playing an online casino it's been established that I'm an adult. I make many choices of my own every damned day, maybe this is one for me too?

Sure there are more but these are the ones which instantly spring to mind. Feel free to tell me i'm wrong or chip in with your own!

"Here you have some free spins, just pay us 30 eur first" - Atleast state that you have to deposit in the subject-line.
"We don't take any responsibility for any of our products, we just hire crappy providers and take your cash" - Seems to be the standard at most casinos these days.
"RTP, is that a car?" - Knowlegde level of some of the live chat reps I've talked to the last month.

Got one to add to the list.

And sorry that it is 32Red but that side window with the DOTD offer popping up 3-4 times, even if you close it or clicked on YES to take the offer, must have been programmed by some lunatic.

32Red's slidebar? (is that's what it is) or sidebar. Whatever :p
I hate it with passion:mad:

Besides agreeing with the op on all he said, I also hate Casinos who are translating to my language but forget to tell those who are translating that it's great if they know and understand what they are writing.

Using terms such as 'CashBack', when It's NOT cash, It's a bonus WITH WAGERING.

I even came across a new variation today at CasinoRoom

ScreenHunter_305 Dec. 02 20.46.webp

WTF is 'Direct Cash' ??????

There's nothing 'Direct' about it, being credited within 48 hours and there's nothing 'Cash' about it. It's a £10 BONUS with 45x WR

Yes that's the one. And then they also keep playing that pop-up music :mad:

I saw that and thought exactly the same.

Couple more for my list:

Slow withdrawals. I don't like casinos who take more than a couple of hours to pay for established customers. Often, the faster payers are the ones which get my business. Saying it will take "up to 24 hours" these days just isn't competitive or vaguely acceptable.

Charging for deposits. I don't play anywhere that does that but have seen them about, usually a percentage on top of the deposit.

Not storing / saving passwords I agree is a royal pain in the ass. Its bollocks that its for your own "Protection" my system is protected enough / firewalled / secure private browsing / anti virus and the like.

My work around is I use Last pass which stores the info i need. Should at least be given the option to choose save login or not.

Oh and those annoying pop ups (some of which kill the game in progress) telling you how long you have been logged in / how much you have "supposedly" lost - ! fine but give an option to turn such damn things off.

And the biggest one when using a "quick deposit" that some casinos have so it does not interrupt your current game session. Fine I deposit all good and then the damn new balance refuses to show in the slot (mostly happens with netent) and so I have to reload the game anyway.

they are more but I wont bore people ;-)

Hey Harry,

Lunatic indeed lol. We are also frustrated and we are working to make this better. Please bear with us. :)

I get annoyed at casino's where when you go to withdraw, your available balance isn't on screen anywhere and you have to click back a screen to find it again. Especially annoying when you want a clean slate and have to remember the pennies as part of the withdraw amount.

Videoslots has an annoying glitch with the battles, if you're claiming a free battle ticket you have to launch a game before you can claim your battle ticket award and then redeem it on a screen that isn't full size so you can't see everything. Unless the sizing thing is browser related, I haven't found a workaround.

Oh, hate that 32Red pop up with a passion. At least disable it when a player has funds in their account. I do not wish to take a bonus while I am still playing. I might like one later if I bust or cashout, so I don't want to say no.

There is a promotions button, and it appears when you first load the casino.

So I think Tirilej's suggestion is the best, scrap the thing.

I click on the battle ticket in the rewards section, open battles up, register on battle and its done. It says not enough balance but it still registers you and uses the ticket

Things I hate...

Casinos who offer so-called "bonuses" which are actually money-traps because the wagering is so ridiculously high it would take a miracle to make the WR and cash-out anything.

Casinos who say stuff like "Get a 300% bonus! 100% on your first 3 deposits = 300%" :eek2:

Bonus T&Cs which are getting close to a full-length novel and need a lawyer to interpret them...

Marketing people who give their affiliates links which go direct the the casino's sign-up page. Who in their right mind is going to register an account without having a good look round the website first???

Take my cash

Not let me win EVERY deposit

on a serious note...

SPAM

and 'none spam' (genuine offers for the casinos I play at) reminder e-mails if I don't take the offer straight away!

I have this happen a lot! I get 5 emails a day telling me that some offer or another is going to expire if I don't deposit right away. I am always on their website, and these promotions are the same for months (excluding the seasonal types), send me out an email if something NEW happens. I've been tempted to simply put their emails into the SPAM folder, but out of every 20 emails, I do get a few that are worth while.

Wanky misleading promos such as 'You have 10 free spins waiting for you on Flowers : Christmas Edition' but realizing that it is in fact a deposit offer.

Then don't use terms such as 'spins are already waiting for you' and have me believe that they are in fact free when that is not the case.

It's like these people think they're being clever with the way the promo is worded but is on closer inspection completely false and makes me avoid these chumps like the plague.

Even sadder when it is 'accredited' casinos trying these lame-ass tactics, why not just state that 10 spins will be credited on my next deposit, not that they're 'already waiting'. This kind of shit really pisses me off. C*nts

Hi kidgloves,

If you just register for a battle the system will automatically use on the of the tickets you have with the same value. We are also working on a box in which you will verify that you are using a ticket. I hope that we will have it ready by the end of this month.

Best regards,

Philip

Agreed I thought about doing a meme for this "Hey wanna play your cash to earn cashback there is no catch but to turn it into cash you have to wager the cash before you can cash it out the cash machine"

That should be the subject header for the email I.e the truth!
:rolleyes::lolup:

A good few has been mentioned,

DOTD is a bad one, As if the download was not slow enough already.

Free cash, Log in to find a squid, (£1) and stick a wager on it :D

Closing a game down only to be bought back to home page, Having to click to see more games,

No search facility

CS that do not know there head from there arss, Probably nether logged on to a site in there life

Bonus not being credited

Mystery bonus for a deposit

The worst is got to be the cash, In fact its a bonus with a wager knocked on to it, This has to stop,I can see casino getting fined before long

Case in point

Screenshot_2015-12-04-13-56-39-1.webp

This type of email really grinds my gears. I've told the rep about this before.

Get stuffed Thrills. You can't even be arsed to tell me which game this is for let alone why i have to qualify when I'm working.

Can't remember ever seeing these offers on a weekend.

One more to add to the list, would call it:

WORST CHANGE 2015

Sorry but again 32RED. Just had 2 deposits via Ecopayz in a row not credited to my casino account, hence had to contact LiveSupport to have it sorted. The amount of time and clicks it takes to get connected is just hilarious. First very troublesome to find the LiveChat button and then fill out a form, click again 2 times to finally be connected to support.

Sorry Mark, but which "lunatic" programmed this????

Getting an email saying that you have free spins in your account only to find that they're not there, then having to go begging to CS to find out they know nothing about them.

If my freespins aren't there, I now don't even bother going to customer support to ask for them or see why. I don't want to give them the satisfaction of laughing at me anymore

They are usually only 5 freespins anyway and the likelihood is they are dead spins

Totally agree. Settle down after a long day at work for some gaming and head to my top casino spots, only to find an offer for superspins today I would have been happy to take needed a deposit before 5pm. Well, whoopy friggin doo....I'll take my money somewhere else tonight...

That's exactly the one thing that annoys me, I was going to post that and you beat me to it lol

Got one more to add, although this is not casino specific as it is a general MG/Net-ent issue.

Why on earth did they stop allowing players to chose how many paylines he wants to play. On older slots it was possible. The reason i am pointing this out is that when i am down to my last bet and i do not have enough for a spin i now have to leave that slot and open one of the old ones to clear my balance.

Especially annoying is that if you play with a bonus and don't clear your balance to "0" and make a deposit on top the bonus wagering remains active!!!

One of my pet peeves - logging into an account from my German IP and the software is not smart enough to figure out all that all of my transactions and communications are done in English, yet I'm force fed German. I get crap loads of promo offers in German, even though I have not made any indication whatsoever that I am German except an IP. Even at 32Red which I've played at for donkey years has German pop ups. C'mon - really?

This is pure laziness on the casino's part. They could easily ask during the sign up phase what you would prefer as a language option.

This is maddening when traveling. Trying to log in to a site and being forced into a Spanish or Chinese site because of one's IP :axeman2:

I can relate to that ;)

I have almost all of my accounts in usd, but live in Sweden.
Even the Swedish sites are forcing me to read English just because of my currency. Often livechat is set to English too.
I know. It's the opposite problem but it's still there.

I just keep on changing the language back to Swedish:D

Banking pages that tell you withdrawal timeframes are "instant" to ewallets and then in the small print the killer term "when processed". Then you only have to work out how long "processing" takes. You'd be surprised how many outfits use those terms and while the readership here are savvy to it god help any newbie waiting on their money.
Bit like Mercedes telling you that cars are delivered "instantly" upon ordering and then in the small print adding "when built"

Oh and the biggest one by far for me is the continual mistakes made in terms and conditions by promotions teams in their offers.EVERY day I get something from someone that is just wrong, lazy , stupid , sloppy way of doing things. This is made all the more maddening by the fact that casinos rely on t+c's to decide if customers are entitled to their payout and many of them stick rigidly to them. However when they make a mistake with their t+c's all you ever hear is "sorry that's incorrect we will rectify it".Now you try coming with the same excuse with some of them if you make a mistake , in a lot of cases you'll be given the high road "sorry you broke the t+c's withdrawal denied".
I often thought we should have a thread "Marketing Stupidity" and name and shame them every day until someone in their organsiations finally gets the message that when your sending out promo offers etc. that could result in someone having a large payout that it would be a good idea to proof read them first and the person doing so having a basic understanding of the business.I have literally hundreds of emails on file all trying to clarify offers with marketing teams that after further scrutiny the terms were found to be incorrect/misleading.
Its simple - if an offer can be interpreted in more than one way - its been written wrong, there should be no room for any ambiguity for everyones sake.

"play anywhere from your tablet/phone". No not really - play anywhere where the connection your using has never in the history of mankind been used by another human being to play at the site your on, or where that connection may be using a proxy/vpn you don't know about. In essence play from home and nowhere else. And while your at it interrogate your partner/children to make sure they're not playing on the same site and no one that ever steps foot inside your house has access to your wifi code or desktop.

MOAN MOAN MOAN FERKIN MOAN

is that all you guys ever do ? :p

except I agreed with everything written provoking a question:

On a daily basis, how many times do you think a CS rep somewhere on the face of gods green earth is informed by a customer the dictionary definition of the word 'free'. lmao

FREE : an English rock band formed in London in 1968

You see, don't use Wikipedia LOL

C'mon buddy, you're just picking flies now lol, DOA is the balance clearing slot and has that beautiful habit of giving 3 scatters with just 2 pay lines (or less!) active what more could we ask for!

  • Casinos that change wagering requirements from 40x (specified in the T&C) to 80x without notification. Just plain sneaky and unfair.

  • Casinos that offer you a bonus on reversals or part-reversals to lure you back into play.

  • Casinos that doesn't seem to be able to provide a regular live-chat or a quick help via e-mail.

  • Casinos where you talk to people that have such a horrible indian accent that it's close to impossible to understand them.

  • Casinos where I deliberately switch everything to english, but I still get all the e-mails in badly written german.

'Hello, can I speak to Jonathan please'
'Speaking, Hiya'
' It's Paul here from 'X Casino'

Yeah Right, pull the other one, Paul one of the most common English names going and I can't understand a word you are saying!

Guess Its another promo I will have to (gladly) miss out on!

Do you really think I am going to deposit so when there may be an issue with my account etc, my stress is going to be magnified 100x trying to explain something to someone I cannot understand even slightly!

etc etc

My biggest complaint are casinos that give you a good bonus and then give you say 3 days to complete it. WHY??

I recently had a 100% bonus up to 500. So I deposited 500 and started with 1,000. I did not notice they had a time frame of 5 days to complete wagering. I make larger deposits with the idea to play on it for weeks sometimes. I am not in a hurry to wager it all so quickly. So why do casinos want to take the fun out of the game? It's greed I tells ya!

This time frame on bonuses is something that was not around a few years ago and has started to pop up more and more. Pisses me off dammit!

Its pretty bad,I see one yesterday which last 24hrs

Its simple, While a bonus is active the casino is not going to see a deposit of you, The quicker it clears the quicker they think they can get a deposit of you,

But we all knew that any way ;)

Casino's that have a maximum withdrawal limit!
You can deposit however much you wish but are limited to how much you can cash out.
Ridiculous!

Unsolicited bonuses

Well, I personally *hate* it when I play with own funds and then out of the blue the balance changes slightly, followed by an email "we have just credited you with a whooping $10 bonus, 30X WR, enjoy!". WTH? Looks to me like a roguish way to forcefully tie-up otherwise free-to-withdraw funds. I remember it happening at least three times, before I contacted this casino with a very explicit request to never credit me any "bonuses" unless I ask for them :)

Promotional emails from casinos that no longer accept UK players, I know a lot are prob random spam but not all are, is it reallty that hard to remove all UK players from promotional mailing lists, esp if we can no longer play there.

Big banners proudly announcing "casino payout for this week £5million" with no mention of what was taken to produce that figure well we know they take at least 5% profit based on a 95% RTP so the banners should really say "Casino takings for this week £5.25milion" or "Casino profit for this week £250,000"

dino.webp

Urmm, no thank you as not going to deposit :)

Another one of my hates is a no point emails, "Example", Jackpots getting high & shows a picture of a jackpot machine? Like I am going to win it any way and also need reminding ?
