Things we hate about slots

Hey all,

Aside from losing streaks and a billion dead spins what are the things we hate about slots the most... I've got a few things that do my fucken head in.

Slots celebrating a win when its a loss.. Nothing worse than a slot making it out like your a winner when you win 10% of your stake. It just annoys me when I win 0.20 from a $2 bet. Its as good as a deadspin. Playngo are shocking for giving these "wins". Its straight out a loss.

When you have been playing a slot for ages to get a feature and you finally get it... and it pays zero. That's "tilt" heaven.

The bonus buys and "enhanced" spins have ruined slots as most providers have gone down that route now. It seems way harder to just naturally spin in a bonus. The cost of these bonus buys is ridiculous, particularly with these super super bonus buys that cost $500 for a 0.20 bet. Even a bonus buy that is 100x is way too expensive. I use a crypto casino and whenever I try bonus buys they are always a loss. Unless your a streamer the bonus buys are unaffordable.

Five or so years ago slots seemed a lot easier to bonus and it felt like you could actually win but it feels a lot harder to win on them now.

Anyone else got any gripes with the slots?

Pointless animations. Like the Turd shooting the target on the last spin of the feature when it cannot possibly do anything. Same on JaTB, or any game which activates an expanding wild on a dead reel.:mad::mad:

:DBETTER LUCK NEXT TIME:D

Splash screens that have a tick box that says 'Don't show next time' that SHOW NEXT TIME when you tick them. PRAGMATIC PLAY ARE YOU LISTENING!!!

Maximum Megaways that totally gimp the reels. 117,649 ways to win you say? Here's 20p or no win. Might as well make a million megaways option that still finds a loser.

Thing I hate about slots....

How they made money for casinos and providers for YEARS but also gave their end user (IE US!) a fair game time and value for money 8/10.

Then one staff meeting someone said "Hey boss we can make even more money" , greed became the business model and we get what we see today :)

I hate how providers just bring out the same games and reskin them.. like how many fucken variations of Big Bass do we need Pragmatic. I get that its the popular, but do we need 50 versions of the same game. I also hate these enhanced spins, $1 spins that cost you $5 as they are suppose to be 5x more likely to hit... yet you still struggle to get the feature.

most of bgaming's releases are reskins these days, cmon softswiss, pull your finger out! Fortune Bells is the newest one and its just Wild Chicago/Save Buffalo Spirit/Lady Wolf Moon. Those are in turn just high RTP clones of the novomatic Lucky Lady's Charm.

I'm in a venting mood... but how about when providers release a new version of a great game and you wait ages for it and it ends up being dogshit. Games like Immortal Romance 2 and Danger High Voltage 2.. we all expected something half decent and both were poor compared to the originals. DHV2 was just awful.

I’m probably going to recap on most of what was mentioned in this thread but off the top of my head:
  • Bonus buys
  • Extra bets
  • Any sort of collection feature enabling better outcomes the longer you play
  • Zero bonuses
  • Pointless mechanics
  • Gamble games (where upon landing the bonus, you are given the option to gamble for additional free spins/larger multiplier)
  • No sounds for wins below stake amount (I prefer some sort of noise when I get a return, but not over the top)
  • Slots with multiple RTP versions available
  • Slots where the max RTP version is below 95% (I’m looking at you ELK and Thunderkick)
I tend to find the above things most annoying when I’m losing.

  • Extra bets
Got to disagree there!

For me they give additional flexibility. An extrabet can be used to lower the volatility of a slot, increasing the bonus hit rate whilst decreasing the maximum win. I prefer when extra bet and normal bet are the same RTP though, its a bit annoying when you only get top RTP with one option.

For example Aztec Clusters is a great 97% RTP 10,000X max win game but with their wild spin feature you can turn it into a 97% RTP 500X game which can be great for caps!

Is it just me or are slots just way more volatile... five or six years ago max wins were almost unheard of. Now a lot of providers have gone for slots with extreme volatility. It seems to be its either a monster win or nothing. I don't bother with No Limit or Hacksaw as they seem to focus on slots specifically for bonus buys/streamers. The only provider that doesn't seem too volatile is Quickspin.

*extra bet* bet double for a higher chance of a feature, if you feature trigger rate is so shite to require this then just make that the base stake and have a higher chance to hit the features.

ALMOST worse... Wins of less than 100x described as a Super, Mega or EPIC "life-changing win!" :axeman:
