The Olympic Torch is coming...

... to my town today.
In fact, the route passes no more than 100 yards from my house!

I'm a bit surprised actually, at the amount of apathy there seems to be toward the Games by the majority of UK residents - I think it's absolutely fabulous that they are in the UK this time - I'm really excited about it!

Hopefully I can get some pictures of the torch later today (it's coming just after 6pm) and post them in this thread.

I love the Olympics Mark, and am extremely excited about them being in the UK this time. Even though you are five hours ahead of me, I will be up before the birds glued to my TV to watch all the top events.

Whenever the Olympics are on, a few of the 32Red staff and I correspond as the events are ongoing, cheering for our respective teams.

I'm not really up this time on the top athletes of each nation, but will be cheering for Canada and the UK for sure. I love the rowing, swimming, diving and the track events. What are your favs?

Pretty much the same for me really. Will be hoping that the UK can do well in all events, and grab a gold or three somewhere, somehow!

I tried hard to get some tickets for various events, but in the end "all" I could get was a UK Womans football match at Wembley.
I just picked up the tickets from the post office today - now, I'm really excited!

KK, I am not sure whether the 'apathy' you mentioned is related to the general pessimism around the Euro region these days. In addition, GB is likely to play second fiddle to the US and China in terms of gold medals won though over the decades GB has won its fair share of medals. I am sure you guys over there are more interested in 'footie'. Just look at Euro 2012.

Nevertheless, its a great event but you should take care as I have a niggling feeling that the terrorists may be up to something.
