The low attention span generation of tabs

Probably people used to open a browser and go to a site, close the site, go to another or go offline. These days, there's often a string of tabs across the top of the screen.
Out of curiousity, how many tabs do you pretty much always have open if online (not to be confused with your bookmarks bar)?

For me, it's CM, my email, and facebook are always open..and often zergnet and a spare for googling/random surfing. And then, because I have my laptop tucked away in the cabinet and use the 44" tv as my monitor and surf wirelessly from my armchair and use for downloads as well, the downloads folder is gen open in the background for online snags and I have aother tab for torrents.

How about you? Are you online then off..or like me, a series of tabs, switching from site to site?

I have numerous tabs. For me its email, casino Im playing on, youtube, twitch and this forum.

Dont go on facebook very often, too many drama queens for me :D

That's probably very true lol; for me, it's an easier way to text - my family and friends are there chatting and arranging things - since it also pings to their phones, I don't have to use my poor typing skills on the android :D

Its actually really weird how people change when they get older and in relationships/marriages. Some of my girl friends from highschool (who I havent kept in touch with) turned into big drama queens. I accepted some on my facebook and all they do is post about problems and drama. So bad I had to block from seeing their posts. I didnt want to delete them and upset them or upset myself as some were really good friends back then. But yeah every post was like "great bf I have. He is mad at me cause I burnt his toast. Listen buddy you can leave anytime you want. Im confident with who I am!!"

Which were followed up by other drama responses "dont worry girl. Youre a great person. You dont need that"
"wow really. If that was my man, he be on the streets!"
"Us girls need to stick together, men are no good"!

Im like really? I feel like Im reading a transcript from Maury Povich or Jerry Springer.

Lol, I like checking the photos I might not otherwise see of events, catch up with friends that have gone to the wayside etc. It's also, for me, great for storing my own pics and looking back over the years to see how I've changed/where I've been/what I've done.

I'd also forget LOADS of birthdays if not for the reminder :eek2:

I usually have about 6-8 open all the time.
Most are casino-related or a page on my own site that I leave open to remind me I need to do something on my websites (updates, etc.)
When finding this post I had 13 open = above average!

The only one I always leave open all the time is the UK Freeview TV guide - so I can see what's on telly. ;)
A bit strange really, because I don't watch very much TV.

I always close CasinoMeister when I finish my "session" on it; One of the main reasons for this, is that my bookmark goes to the Forum Home-Page which shows the last 10 posts - so I can quickly see what's been talked about more recently when I come back.

I tend to have 3, maybe 4 tabs open.

Examples include, the particular casino I am playing at the time, Casinomeister (in the vain hope I will be contributing to the winners screenshots/videos section) and usually my email (especially in the day time as 90% or my work is via email)

On top of this but on lesser occasions I have Skrill or my online baking at the ready if I am expecting a withdrawal that day.

Facebook used to be on top of all this but is ancient history for me now, as mentioned way too many drama queens and I really am not interested what someone I have not seen for 5 years had for breakfast or that an ex work colleague has a cough and cold!

2 screens...

At left : email account for work ( I receive at least one message per minute that I have to answer ) and geoop ( a diapatching tool for my workers on the road )

At right : fb, reddit, casinomeister, youtube for music, 9gag, a casino

I am usually at work 80 hours a week so I don't use my computer a lot at home these days...

in 2012 a group of rebel guys started a thing that went at high scale quickly. the thing was to set the volume at max with a porn movie running and windows open. the thing in 2 days took reportage exposure with old people moaning rightly so that.. .those kids have no parents, what the hell is this?? and was practiced in other cities too instead of being stopped after reportage. the meaning was to make people feel awkward. talk about bad trolling. police left fines in door and in a week everything stopped. i myself walked thru streets hearing such sounds it was awkward even for me lol

Usually just the active window and no more. Occasionally I'll have a look at reddit, today I learned (new) which leads me off on a reading spree of random stuff.

I don't do bookmarks at all. I just start typing the name of sites into my address bar.

Takes way too much time and effort to curate a bookmarks list.

As for facebook, which seems a popular option, check it on my phone occasionally but never on computer.

Twitter more often but that's usually though mobile or tweet deck.

@citizenx99 if anyone cares to follow. Usually just political rants or occasional win screenshots.

I will often rack up lots of tabs, but will close them down as much as possible due to using firefox and a PC with low (4gb) of ram, firefox is a memory monster, its usually news sites, email, reddit, weather, youtube, gaming sites or forums, dont use facebook, twitter or any of that twattery.
