OK, so the idea is to tell us your best casino horror story (below).

People can upvote any story posted here.

The most popular story gets a nice little prize at the end. (ok, ok, it's MONEY!)

[any posts that aren't a story will be moved to the "Tell us your casino horror story -- Support thread", just to keep things nice and tidy.]

I'll go first, to get things started, I'm not in the running though so no need to upvote me.

Years ago we had 1000 complaints about a casino group that was notorious for not paying people, or at least s l o w p a y i n g to the point of ridiculousness. We tried everything to shame these guys into doing the right thing -- Worst Casino Group Award, Bag of D*icks Award, Rogue listing etc etc -- not happening. If anything it got worse as the years went by. They were a blight on the industry, and that's being kind.

After a few years I got on that situation like a dog on a fresh bone, wouldn't let it go. Bryan didn't think all the fuss was worth it, just wanted to let them rot in the Pit, but I wasn't having it.

Finally at one conference we heard through a mutual contact that they were willing to talk to us face to face. Great!, I thought, finally get to nail the bastards!

So the day comes, I've prepped all my notes and I'm going to take these guys to the cleaners. I sit down with the guy and let him have it:

"You've got hundreds of complaints, I said, "more that all the rest of the Rogue casinos combined!"

"Yes, maybe so," he says.

"You've got a dozen Worst awards and more coming!"

He smiles one of those infuriating "sticks and stones" smiles and says nothing.

"Everyone hates you!" I'm getting desperate here. Is any of this going to make an impression?

He nods quietly then shrugs: "not everyone" he says.

"You have bullsh*t bonuses, you invent Terms to cheat people, you never pay anyone unless you're forced to, and even then you stop paying at the first opportunity. How can you run your company this way?"

He is quiet and not at all troubled by my accusations. Finally he says "it's a business model. Maybe not a popular one but ..." and he shrugs a little "sue me" shrug and that was that.

Nice idea for a contest :)

Your example can 'virtually' only be one group. right? :p

Luckily i don't really have any horror stories but i found CM pretty fast in my 'career', which probably helped prevent the worst! But i definitely had some issues over the past decades..

I'll just sit back and read the possibly horrifying entries with a nice cuppa

For me it was the lesson I learnt the hard way when playing with a No Deposit Bonus. Once I met the wagering requirement and had my bankroll reduced to the maximum allowed to be withdrawn, I stupidly did not cash out there and then.

So this $300 I continued to play with, until I had built it to just over $2k. Only to have the casino whack it down to $300, as the bonus terms were still attached to those funds - As I hadn't cashed it out!

Lesson learnt and learnt the hard way!

There's no greater casino horror story for me than 'The Great VIP Withdrawal Of 2014'

(Ominous Orchestral Music Sounds fill the air)

Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, if you like me were a long-serving and loyal customer at a formerly great casino, now mentioned only in hush tones and as a reference to the good old days, then the 'The Great VIP Withdrawal Of 2014' was a dark day...

It started like any normal day, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, and then dark clouds started to gather overhead, with rain and high winds soon to follow...

An unscheduled email arrived from the unnamed casino with the dreaded title 'change to VIP membership status' - could it be true, was my loyalty no longer to count for anything?...

I read the email and knew immediately that times were changing - I imagine all across the UK there were howls of derision and screams just like when Luke Skywalker found out who his Father was...

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooo"

I bandaged my metaphorical wounds, took solace in the words of other fellow forum members who had also suffered the same indignity, and put those horrors out of mind (until this very day when I share this story with you)

OK, mine is luckily documented well on here in historical threads but I came within hours of being screwed for £7800 which at the time was my highest ever bankroll.

Naturally, it involves Bonanza and a new casino appearing on CM. Rep installed, promotional thread in place I proceeded to drop £50 into Freaky Vegas, a new site that operated both under MGA and UKGC licensing - apparently!

So playing low stakes on Bonanza I increased, bonus-free, my bankroll to £158 and raised to £2 spins. I then hit a feature which paid 3628x bet. Mental, screenie is in the Bonanza thread somewhere and I have a YT video catching the end of the bonus too.

I then played Donuts and hit 750x for £1 in the base game, increasing the balance to over 8k. I then withdrew £7800 and posted the screenies, the rep even chipped in (by PM too IIRC) and congratulated me, told me w/d processed etc.. Withdrawal was indeed processed, arrived in bank 48 hours later. The very same time that Bryan had posted reports of shenanigans described in links under here and chucked them in the pit. Rogued, the very same time my money turned up.

I had a kind of gambler's version of PTSD afterwards, realizing what a close escape I had had. I am still glad to this day I was paid in time before it went tits-up.

Treasure Island casino in Vegas in 2016 - playing blackjack at £2k a box, all 7 boxes on the table. Had 19's and 20's all the way along against a dealers 4 - dealer pulled a King (14), A (15), A (16) and a final 5 (21) and wiped me out. Not the biggest bets ive done, but that one still haunts me to this day

Second worst was being 6k into a poker cash game at a genting casino - I flopped a royal flush (first time ever) so was due to pick up the royal flush jackpot which stood at around 18k - I was loving life until I was informed that the jackpot went the day before and the pot had been reset to £1k - quite a large argument ensued but I ended up with £1k royal flush jackpot and still being down on the game.

Don't know why I still play thinking about it

Just to clarify - I don't want the money - if I was to win, happy for it to go to charity. Just wanted to share a couple of stories

Unless the prize is £1million, then charity begins at home.

Not for as much money as many but still bizarre to me: I'd been a member of Paddy Power for about 15 years off and on, and if you'd asked me at the time I would probably have listed them as my favourite online bookie/casino. On the day I had £330 in cash and £100 in usable free bets.

When I logged in I just got a message saying my account had been closed, no link to CS or any way to talk about it. When I logged off and got through as an anonymous guest they said it was closed due to "business decision". Throughout the entire saga I never got anything more explanatory than those 2 words.

I knew that I was an advantage player so any casino would do right by their bottom line by cutting me loose but I also knew I'd never cheated or used any exploit gimmick, I'd always played the promos straight. I asked for my balance back but they said they were keeping it, as my current deposits are less than my total withdrawals. I said that's not how it works, I played honestly, you're welcome to kick me out but that money is owed.

6 weeks of back and forth, I eventually got them to admit deadlock. 6 weeks further of IBAS they eventually paid my cash suggesting it was a goodwill gesture, refused to do anything about the accumulated free bets as "there weren't any on the account" (Duh? They've expired in the 3 months this has been going on)

Never did get the free bet value credited, and never did get any explanation for the "business decision" Betfair did the same just after but they folded as soon as I mentioned IBAS and I got my money pretty quickly.

This is the kind of thing I'd expect from a clip joint, not one of the Big Names on the UK market.

Having to dress up as a panda when I won the royal panda 2 year anniversary promotion and beilng filmed in my home city completing tasks. Gave me mild ptsd. Also when I thought id won I found out I had to compete again in a slots race against someone else because we were joint 1st (the promotion paid 5k to fist place only 2nd got nothing) so that was a sweat! They paid the 5k almost immediately 😀 and to this day its the biggest competition ive won and most likely ever as i don't really enter them.

My Horror casino story still upsets me to this day.

Many years ago, around 10, I signed up for a casino called after a city in the USA and something you roll, not naming them fuckers cause im still pissed. 🤣

Anyways I took there welcome bonus of £20 with 200% match and got £60 in total with 70x x wagering so £4200 🤢 Maxium bet £5

I was playing there for 20 hours non stop doing 80p £1 spins trying to complete the wagering
I was lucky enough to hit my first and only Wild hot spot and won the maximum 1000x = £1000
at this time, I had NEVER won so much gambling I was shaking, as it was a lot of money to me back then
I carried on playing and hit a wild line on dead or alive. My luck was well and truly in in total, I had around £2500, and after many hours of wagering it turned to cash!!

BUT there was an issue.....

As we all know, you can press the spacebar on most games to spin, and this is what I always do. HOWEVER, this time, when I loaded a game called Gold Factory like any other games, I pressed the spacebar.... BIG MISTAKE. It made it do a max bet of £20 spin, " LIKE WHO'S PROGRAMMED A GAME TO DO THAT !!!! "

I was absolutely gutted. The first thing I did was go to live help and explain to them what happened because I thought it would be best to be honest because they would see it anyway. Making a withdrawal, live chat told me Thank you for being on honest and that was that until I did a withdrawal and I had the following email

"Your account has been found to be in breach of clause 7 (vi) of our Promotional Terms and Conditions:

7 (vi) The maximum bet allowed while the Welcome Bonus is in play is £5. Should You bet higher than this while the Welcome bonus is in play, the casino reserves the right to confiscate all winnings.

Therefore, your withdrawal has been cancelled, your winnings have been confiscated and your deposit of £20 has been returned to your gaming account.

Regards

Accounts Team"

I replied back, trying to plead my case and try to butter them up, talking s**t like telling them I was gonna tell all my buddies to play and even start an affiliate scheme, doing anything I can to try and make them change their decision

They did not change their decision even though I was using cash at the time when it happened, and to this day i wished I Knew about CasinoMister because I do think I had a case
