Awhile back I started getting tons of spam from this affiliate winnerpromos. I was getting hit with probably 10 per day with lots of them being for casinos that are accredited here. First I used the unsubscribe link and it said my email was removed from the list, then the next day I'd get the mails back again. I tried unsubbing again, same thing.

After the 3rd time I gave up and I started reporting them to the aff programs at River Belle and VPL, but I never heard back and the spams kept coming, except now they have a big 'we're compliant with can-spam' etc link at the bottom but when you click on it, it says 'your email isn't in our database.'

So after I got sick of it, I contacted Cobus and told him about it, he asked me to forward the mail directly to him. So I forwarded a couple and he never got them. I sent a couple as an attachment, he never got them. He gave me his personal mail to forward it to, and the same bloody thing. It seems that it's my mail that's now being blocked as spam because I've got this attached file or this spammity spam spam spammers junk in it.

sigh...

Finally I copy the mail and send it to Cobus through PM, he says he'll deal with it. I went for 3 days without getting spam and then it started again. Same guy, different domain. I told Cobus he said he'll deal with it. Then a few days later, another domain. Then back to the first one. And now a bloody 'nother one. lol - I haven't talked to Cobus for a few days so not sure what's going on behind the scenes, but I'm still getting the mails.

So then I contacted the VPL rep and he gave me a mail to try forwarding one of these spams too. I don't know if it's going to go through or if I'm going to have to go through the same thing trying to forward the mails and having them blocked.

This person is like the Palace Group spammer - I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same guy. He's filling my inbox marking all these messages HIGH priority. They're all being flagged as spam by my ISP, but I can't have them automatically deleted because sometimes stuff that's NOT spam gets flagged as well. He's shilling for 888, Jackpot Factory, Belle Rock and VPL.

Anyhow, I'm sure that the reps will deal with it eventually, but it's frustrating that it seems that any spams I've been trying to report lately aren't even making it to their destination. I'm wondering if anyone else has reported this guy and are still getting spammed? I remember seeing a thread awhile back but now I can't find it.

And does anyone have any advice on how to forward a spam message without YOUR message being blocked as spam...?

I get literally dozens of these spam mails every day (the same sort - many including Accredited casinos).
I gave up a long time ago reporting them or clicking "unsubscribe" as nothing works :(

I now use a filter called SpamFighter which moves most spam to trash as soon as it arrives (though some of the bastard spammers must use different outgoing details every day, as nothing stops them coming in ). But I would still rather stop the spam at source if only there was a way...

I use to get around 40 a day & now I am down to around 12.
I use to report them & I use to get more so I stopped & now I get less.
This is why they have a thing called delete & to me it works better.
It's just a pain in the ass to get emails like this.

Cobus is usually pretty much on top of things. I know he's out this week on vacation, but will be back on the 25th.

Fighting spam is like playing whack-a-mole. You can report the affiliate to the affiliate manager, but if the spammer gets shut down, he opens a new account elsewhere and he's at it again.

Funny how I've never received a spam mail from a 32red affiliate - ever. :p

I actually received a Spam email from a 32Red affiliate... back in the day when Aaron (BetFred Manager) was their Affiliate Manager... This was in 2008 and I still give Kudos to 32Red for their NO Nonsense approach.

Heres the email:

Hi Nate,

I’m writing regarding the spam you received last night and to thank you for bringing this to our attention.

As 32Red’s Affiliate Manager and I would like to immediately apologise to you for having been contacted in this way by an affiliate and for any inconvenience caused. 32Red does not condone the use spam in any way and I have subsequently closed this affiliate’s account permanently.

Again, thank you for getting in contact and for bringing this unscrupulous affiliate to light.

Kind regards,

Aaron

Tsk Tsk Tsk Betfred! I got wooden spoon ready!

Ooh thats very naughty! Betfred did that! Tsk tsk tsk! Betfred is a casino too. Hopefully he won't do it again cos it is VERY STUPID to do that to spam. Betfred you oughta better apologise because I knew your casino place is decent but you have lost accredited unfortunately. Why not do the right thing is a lot easier to do than doing wrong thing and get hit hard with consequence that take long time to get it fixed which is a lot harder. Eh?

:what: naththo, lol.

@ topic: Hang 'em high, i say!

I hate spammers, really do, and the one you mentioned chayton, i suspect is the same as "spinnerpromos" and
indeed uses several domains and some tricks to keep filling our in-boxes.

Everytime i click block sender/domain/report spam/report phishing scam etc, he comes back sometimes even the same day.

I would love to get a hold of this persons email address, but he probably has gazillions.
Anyway i recollect when i first got active here, there were a few members that could retrieve spammers ID's?
I think if anyone can they should at least have them penalized in some way.

I have had spam from nearly all Casinos, accredited or not, and i would dare say the whole Casino Rewards group is the most irritating, even if i do have an account at a lot of their casinos:)

The most irritating to me is the "idea" that some spammers actually make a LOT of money this way...

Funny how I've never received a spam mail from a 32red affiliate - ever. :p

Thanks for reminding me!

I still get spam from an affiliate of 32Red. They are also having Slotocash casinos, Club World's and a few more that's accredited here.

Who they are? The famous CasinoDeal of course
I got spam from them to both my adresses just a few days ago.
I also remember that I talked to someone at 32Red when there was another thread about them, but nothing happened.

I don't get that much spam, and rarily from any affiliate from an accredited casino so they don't bother me so much. But the ones from Casinodeal is :(

I suspect that instead of an instant ban, the offender got a warning. This meant they just added the line about compliance with the can spam act, yet they didn't comply even with that weak provision because they ignored the unsubscribe requests.

It seems subsequent reports are just generating more warnings for the offending affiliate, so he is switching domains to make it harder to prove this is the same affiliate doing the spamming.

Perhaps a "three strikes and you're out" rule should be the norm for affiliate programs. This caters for the honest mistake or two, but prevents the determined spammer from "taking the piss" by using the warnings as information to improve their spamming techniques, rather than to fall in line with the program's terms that forbid spamming.

As well as closing affiliate accounts, surely they can be blocked from simply opening up another by the same robust techniques that catch out the player multi accounters. The industry could also create a database similar to the player fraud database where the repeat offenders of spamming are listed so that they can be blacklisted from joining other affiliate programs too. This will hurt them far more than being ejected from just one program.

It annoys players to see that they are subjected to a pretty hard line attitude, where even ONE mistake can cost them thousands in confiscated winnings, yet affiliates seem to just get endless warnings, but get to keep the money anyway, even if those warning turn into an expulsion from the program. Even worse when you consider that players are "everyday consumers", whereas affiliates are "in business", and so would be expected to operate to a higher standard, and have a better understanding of laws, rules, and terms and conditions.

It seems that everything has been left to the spam filter industry, and enthusiasm for tackling spam at source has waned.

The problem with this attitude is that relying on spam filtering means legitimate emails also get blocked, and this is because spammers are trying to disguise their emails as legitimate ones to bypass the filters, yet legitimate emails are written without consideration of making sure they are fine tuned to get past filters, hence they can get blocked.

As filters try to catch up with the spammers, the effect on legitimate emails increases. Although I see loads of correctly caught spam, I have also seen legitimate emails snared in the spam filters, often with a pretty serious caution message generated as to why it is considered spam and has been blocked. Some of these blocked emails are not merely legit, but important too, like requests for documents, personal contact from a VIP host, etc.

Your idea sounds great!

Your idea sounds great to me. I like that. It is so annoying when you get bombard with dozen of spamming email without stopping. They are everywhere like most said. It is every day life we have to battle against spam. Kinda sad thing is it? I would love to see the new rules changes for the affiliation so that they get 3 strikes your out! And permanent ban from joining the other affiliates. Will see what they think of your idea like 32Red has their own affiliates, some others have their own. If they like the idea then they could adopt your idea. It would be wonderful!

32Red seem to take an even more robust approach, booting the affiliate straight away, however they can just sign up to another program and spam something else. They may even try to sneak back into the 32Red program.

Players CANNOT simply let the filters do the work and never have to worry because of the problem of "false positives" that can block important emails fro getting through. The ONLY way to know this has happend is to at least scan the sender and subject line of all the emails caught by the filters before deleting them.

I was getting spammed from Club World once and contacted Martyn and boom, those mails stopped the next day. Also was getting some of those fake website type mails from Royal Vegas, spoke to Wim and they disappeared too.

I have no doubt that Cobus and the VPL rep will do what they can to have it stopped, which is why I contacted them - unlike some others, I'm sure they don't condone spamming from their affiliates - it seems they actually care that their brands are becoming a source of annoyance.

It's interesting actually, has anyone ever looked at the website of this winnerspromos? It looks like this: :) lol
