Just curious, how is it that Obama is the cause of -- and therefore at fault for -- the hike in gas prices? Food too? Airline ticket prices? Shoes?

Gas prices went up after Bush and Cheney took office and Cheney had secret meetings with big oil. Gas prices also went up as a personal favor to the Saudis who have close ties to the Bush family. Republicans can't face the truth about Bush and Cheney and are trying their best to deny the havoc they unleashed on America.
It is why Romney went to a secret fundraiser hosted by Cheney but refused to be photographed by him. It is why republicans refused to have Bush and Cheney appear at or speak at their republican convention. Denial will not work. Most Americans know where the blame lies and despise Bush and Cheney.
We did not get in this mess overnight and President Obama cannot rectify it overnight. Especially when republicans in congress have engaged in obstructionism. Mitch McConnell openly stated he put destroying President Obama and his presidency ahead of helping the country. That has been the republican manta and it is despicable on all levels.
Republicans need to back up their claim that Bush and Cheney are not to blame. Bring them out of hiding and put them on the campaign trail and see how well that goes.

I have to jump in here with one of those pesky "facts" - Exactly four years ago, the average price of gas in the US was $3.67. Then the economy tanked and prices sank dramatically for a short time.
