I am intrigued about match bonuses.

To preface, I would acknowledge that I have taken match bonuses for the minumum amount 20 -50 and do so just to have some fun with no expectations. If I can last an hour or so I am delighted.

Now for those of you who do take these large match bonuses say for 100 or 200 bucks where the WR now is $6000 for a $100 match and $12,000 for a 200 match how on earth does one get to $6000 WR? Wouldn't it be better to
take a chance with your own money usig the same "system" (low roll or high roll to death)and you are able to cash out any time you get ahead?
I certainally would appreciate your input on this for those of you who do take the large 100% match bonuses

As for the 50% match bonus with the 30% WR, no arguments on earth or on this universe could convince me that this is even rational . As a matter of fact i think its insane to even consider this But again for those of you who do take this bonus youir input would be much appreciated.

10 Times or even 15 Times, i might condider taking a bonus when putting my own money at risk, i have done it a couple of times at Titan with a higher WR and i was sweating bullits the whole time:eek:I just dont have the guts for it, too much sitting on the edge of your seat, thinking, woulda, coulda...... damn!!!! I wish i hadnt of taken that bonus:(..............laurie

It all depends on your style of slot play. Since most bonuses are for slots play ONLY, I'll try to explain my thinking...

If you are an aggressive person who wants to grind through the WR as fast as possible, bet high and stay there.

If you want to have fun with a bit of extra $$ provided by the casino, and aren't as concerned about making the WR as opposed to having play time, bet low and stay there.

If you are kind of in the middle, and want to beat the WR while having a decent amount of playtime, bet mid-range.

Regardless of the amount of the WR, you should understand that taking a bonus not only gives you extra money, it gives you extra responsibility. Don't just throw caution to the wind and do something completely outside of your gambling characteristics - it will most likely end up coming back to bite you in the arse. Discipline is the key. If you are smart with your bets, and vary them accordingly, and get on a good winning streak, you will satisfy the WR faster than you know it. Just be mindful of any max cashout restrictions as well... you don't want to submit a w/d for $5000 when the max is only $1000 - you will be sadly disappointed.

The key thing here - READ THE BONUS T&C'S BEFORE taking any bonus. Make sure you UNDERSTAND them as well, because there is no worse feeling than having a cashout denied due to a simple error or oversight.

Just to add some info: I've taken bonuses as high as 600% before, and met an insanely high WR at the same time. I would take a 50% bonus as long as:

a) the bonus is fully cashable, and
b) the WR is low-to-mid range (around 10-15x)

Anything higher than that, less than 100% is out. OTOH, any 100%+ bonus with no more than a 30x WR is good for me.

For me, lately (6-7 months or so) I can't hit anything at an RTG with or without a bonus (and I will only do a 100% or 200%). On one hand it seems you have to spin a zillion times before getting anything decent (that's when a good starting bankroll helps and a bonus can boost it). On the other hand, if you get really lucky and hit something great you do have to grind out the WR, which, unless you pick the right machines makes it VERY difficult. You could make a case for either way...if you have enough of your own funds to deposit (IMHO) that would be the best way. :)

Match bonuses can be beneficial to the player if the value on offer is fair. I wrote a piece on this in another thread saying that when you take a match bonus you are betting all of your deposit against the house that you will meet WR. Fail to meet playthrough, and you have lost all of your bankroll.

Taking on bonuses of less than the intial deposit ie less than 100% can only be poor value, as your deposit which is greater than the bonus will have the same WR.

Ideally on a 100% match with a standard 15 or 20 D+B you will need to at least treble your starting bankroll by the 50% playthrough mark to have a realistic chance of making WR.

Playing with a bonus can make players play too freely too early on, thinking they have a healthy bankroll which can soon be eroded. Then players will feel under pressure knowing it is only a matter of time before they realise they are never going to make playthrough.

I agree, if you are in a position to make a large starting deposit, then not taking a bonus would be better as you can make higher bets and cashout when you want to.

i wont bother taking a bonus if its a monthly or reload style of bonus with low percentage, ie 30%, its better just to play with your own money, but if its a welcome bonus 100% 200% upwards i will always deposit the maximum for the maximum bonus because i always find new casinos play better and payout, im talking about video slots, iv got a system for playing at new casino and have written an article about it on my site, most would say this is a bit silly cuz of RNG and all that but iv seen this happen time and time again, and making the playthrough on slots even when its x40 is not that hard really, just takes a couple of hours in my experience

Hiya: For the Bonus Bagger experts, "and thats not me",:).....It is simply math. Bonus $ vs odd's of games allowed vs playthru requirement. This is some cases, is actually, "Positive Exception".

But, just like being a professional card counter in BJ, it is a small positive exception, and you have to grind your way thru it. Lots of people can/or think they can, count cards. Lots of people can/or think they can, play with bonus money properly to gain a positive exception. In both cases, there are a lot more players who Fail at this, than suceed at it. This is why Casino's allow it.

i usualy take a 100 or so % bonus. as i play slots. usually ill start at the dollar slots such as medal talley. if i get lucky then my bankroll is still good. then after slots cool down ill lowroll on auto for 20 cents just to hurry to finish the WR. this works good for me sometimes. then later on when i can sit at my comp ill bet a 1.00 again and see how my luck goes. ive gotten up to 900.00 dollars doing this and cashed it into my q t account and played for weeks on it.
