GAMING SOFTWARE GIANT ENTERS ONLINE GAMBLING

SEGAGames partners with Playtech to enter online casino and poker sector

Another EiG prediction came to fruition this week (see previous InfoPowa report) when the giant global gaming software giant Sega entered the online casino and poker sector in partnership with Playtech plc.

SEGAGames, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nikkei-listed Sega Sammy Holdings Inc. in Japan, will manage the online operations of SegaCasino.com and SegaPoker.com, both of which use the Playtech backend, along with progressive jackpot and other games. In addition, Sega will be introducing some of its own unique titles, such as Sonic the HedgeHog, Virtua Fighter and House of the Dead - themes familiar to video gamers around the world.

The online enterprises are licensed by Alderney and offer a 'one user account' facility through the SegaPass e-wallet platform. The poker operations are part of Playtech's iPoker network.

The professional-looking websites offer full player facilities including 24/7 support, a loyalty program, player community activity through a player's lounge and both download and web-based gambling.

i love sonic ;-)

but unfortunately if i try to load the site it says your country is blocked by administrator?

hopefully this is not forever?

Seeing how you can get in, perhaps you could ask LiveChat why Germans and Canadians are blocked from even viewing the web site.

This is quite an interesting move by Sega (from an industry point of view). I think we can all agree that Sega games are aimed at the 'younger' audience, so for them to launch an online Casino may be a sign of a change of direction for their business?! Fantastic brand though, I suspect they will do very well with the right team of staff behind them.

I think this is a brilliant move by Sega, because its been years since that brand and their games were on top of the video gaming world, but all the kids that loved playing those games with sega genesis are now of gambling age, and will be the first ones to signup and play at a casino that offers these games that they grew up playing! Brilliant!

Sent a email to an addy i found about banned countries and this is the replay i received.

"Thank you for choosing the SEGA Gaming Community!

You may not be able to access our website if you are coming from the countries mentioned above.

Enjoy our games and good luck!"

Now that I can see a list of the 'banned countries', it makes complete sense. (Thanks for getting it)
All of these countries have draconian anti-gambling laws, or a portion of the Sega empire housed in them.

You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

Wow, China, Aus, and Canada all banned. Guess we know what their target market is going to be :)

Don't get your hopes up. The UK, as far as Playtech are concerned, are a load of fraudsters and bonus abusers, and we will end up having to wager our deposits 100x and our bonuses 1000x:rolleyes:

The rest of the SEGA fanbase are from banned countries, so this venture could be off to a slow start. Perhaps they are thinking of the future, and banking on a move around the world to UK style regulation from the current banning laws.

Sega were always more adult than Nintendo. But that said has been a 'brand for hire' for a long time, they couldn't stand up to the power of Nintendo/Microsoft/Sony.

No surprise, therefore, to see this new casino is just another Playtech skin, and that the Sega licences aren't actually ready yet..... My guess is that when they do show up, they'll be cheap re-skins of existing slots.

Don't mind about 100x or 1000x requirements vinyl, this casino has wagering requirement of 5.6 million , yeah you heard it right for the 400 signup bonus if played on blackjack, and for other games its pretty freaking high too ;).

Guys,

SEGA is indeed in the Online Poker and Online Casino industry. just visited their websites oh boy i am excited! i am a sonic fan.. however, you should be 18 above to play.

Spammers=losers

Thank you for doing such great damage to Sega's reputation.

If you're employees, I suggest you get your resumes updated as I see unemployment in your future.

Unfortunetaly Sonic will be excluded from the slot theme palette, because of that it was targeted to children, and the legal department refused to allow it to appear in a casino that is 18+ Indeed, it would be strange feeling to see Sonic taking my money leaving me disapoointed:(

There were Sonic themed fruit machines released here in the UK a while back, clearly NOT targetted at Children. Fruit Machines were for 16+, and then 18+.

I can remember these, they were always placed in amusement arcades and pubs, which you need to be 18+ to enter. They were never placed in chip shops etc where kids could play them.

The adult gaming market in the UK is huge, games are clearly labelled 18. But kids still play these. At least with a sonic gambling game much more protection is in place to prevent kids playing them. So I don't see a problem here at all.

Player can only make a withdrawal request 30 days from the date of the successful deposit.

Thought there must be some kinda mistake with this Sega Casino rule, so went to live help.
They confirmed the ridiculous term. You have to wait a month to be able to withdraw- doesn't matter if the deposit had bonus attached or if it was totally bonus free.

Nah thats not right. I think that's only attached to one special bonus offer they are doing. I played there and cashed out several times this month and they are quick too: 24 hours tops, sometimes less than 12 hrs (nb: I don't play with bonuses)

Not a huge playtec fan but

Like the concept very clean and is fun to play - hate the withdraw factor. Did not do my usual check when I deposited. Looks like they got my $20 lol

with the MG issue right now looking around for some slots action :eek2:

This Sega Casino is really getting annoying.
They have it printed in their Banking page that Neteller, Moneybookers etc. withdrawals are paid within 24 hours.
So made a withdrawal today and sent in my documents.
Their view of 24 hour withdrawals starts when your withdrawal is approved. But it seems to take 3-5 business days to have it approved.
False advertising or support that has no clue about things...?

John: I am not saying it will be denied, it will go through the process still.

you: yeah. that 24-hour period?

John: That is 3-5 business days.

you: it says that for visa withdrawals. 24h for neteller

you: i've only used neteller

John: That is correct once your withdrawal request is approved.

you: and the waiting period is 3 to 5 business days? so a simple question. is my cashout processed within 24 hours?

John: Your withdrawal request is processed 3-5 business days. Once it is approved and released to your Neteller account you can withdraw it within 24 hours.

They are a absolut JOKE!!!

7. Player can only make a withdrawal request 30 days from the date of the successful deposit.
8. Once you withdraw any amount, you will be no longer eligible for the remainder of 2010 Welcome bonus.

WTF????

Have to wait 30 days before i can make a withdrawal??

Then this in live chat

Bobby: Let me just discuss also that if you are currently under the 2010 Welcome Bonus, you need to keep at least 1 in your account to be eligible for the succeeding months of bonuses. If you make another deposit under the first month, you still need to wait 30 days from the First Deposit.

Hmm im gonna try the deposit bonus now with only 10, i think this is a joke, how can they say no withdrawal is allowed until after 30 days??

Sure Casinomeister cant credit this casino?

hmm im gonna try my luck now anyways, have been waiting to try the SEGA slots

Just to reiterate, that 30 day term is only attached to the one bonus. Its not standard proceedure. I've been getting withdrawals flushed and paid back as fast as 3 - 12 hours.

I agree, but also believe these are teething issues. I had a major issue with withdrawing funds, not being removed from my available balance. It was like that for over 24 hours.

The live chat was also how can I put this not very responsive. Nearly 30 mins to get a response from a query in one instance.

However Sega do want to do things correctly and all this has been fed back to them. ( I have played there quite a bit over the last couple of weeks )

I am confident things on the player care side will improve.

Yeah this does need pushing the cs rep you speak to but they do, do it.

Like I say teething issues, but I am pretty confident Sega are serious in making a good go of their online casino and once these issues are ironed out, it will become one of the few playtechs you have to play at. :)

One other thing. The live chat feature. Being congratulated on making a deposit is very annoying and unwelcome especially when in autoplay mode on Gladiator. LOL

But they soon cease that when you tell them it is unwelcome. :)
