Safer gambling questions?

👋
I wondered about the sudden emails I seem to get soon after losing with questions to which I responded by asking why they want to know n who is this to protect. I haven’t responded to their questions below n my understanding is limited but I was told there’s no actual duty of care for operators or are they wrong? Their second response is below to me asking why, I know I’m annoying but it didn’t feel like it was for my own well-being but tell me if I’m wrong cause I’m frequently wrong or misunderstand things…

“Hope that all is well!

The reason we ask these questions is to make sure that our customers are okay with the gambling activity on their accounts. We have a duty of care towards our customers and thus aim to create and maintain a safe gambling environment for our cusotmer, which is why we reach out to you and ask these questions!

While I have you, can you kindly let us know if you are happy with the activity on your account? Can you also confirm if you are in control of your gambling? “

It's normal, yea; You mentioned you get it after losing; They do have to monitor and reach out after significant losses, unusual betting patterns, late night sessions, loss chasing and whatnot, its part of the UK Gambling Commission’s Social Responsibility Code from what I know. - Can be boring with generic emails tho

Correct. Although its always after a loss.
Ive once deposited 8 x £1,000 in a single session. Wasnt contacted until a week later. They're happy to take your money, social responsibility is just window dressing. Casinos are businesses and their aim is to make money.

Just feels weird I mean who isn’t going to be a bit urgh if you lose but I do win as well, is anyone happy when they lose? One of the previous questions was something about losing time, but I lose time all the time anyway, I lose track of time every day, or I hyperfocus on things too. Ive got ADHD, time is not my friend I’m time blind, drive parents mad when I say ill be home in 15 mins n then don’t appear for an hour. I leave apps open n all sorts 😬

that’s a lot, I haven’t provided income proof to anyone n no one’s asked atm altho I had some weird automated thing n get annoying pop ups sometimes.

I feel like safer gambling is ramping up a lot, or maybe that's just me! I get emails weekly from sites I have £10 deposit limits on and probably never even logged in that week. Others I'm getting flagged because I use their tools too much :what: like yeah I change deposit limits a fair bit sometimes once or twice a week (although that's rare) my limits are super low most of the time between £10-£50 and I raise them to take part in some of the promos sometimes. If I have a big win I want to stake higher on slots so I raise limits.

Then I get safer gambling emails or them asking me to contact them. There won't even be a loss just a change in deposit limits. My biggest losses by far were well over a year ago and no one was contacting me then! I've cut WAY down and the tools help but for some reason it's flagging me up on the system. They told me this happens when you change deposit limits a lot. It's like they'd rather I had no limits than change them from a tenner to £100, where is the logic? Surely it's obvious to anyone in the gambling industry that sometimes you actually win (shocker!) and have more funds some weeks than others?

Shoulder to cry on,

Doesn’t make a lot of sense, if I win I withdraw some, like I’d withdraw the entire amount deposited and more if I win again so I’ll play longer because I won. I’m so new to it that I was playing £2 as I read something about that for under 25s n I didn’t see that I can drop it n lost a fair bit, won too, no one said anything - then I had a few weeks not playing won n then played a fair bit back, dropped to £1 btw now, idk if that’s too much but I’ve left that place (MrQ) after they wrote a big email suddenly and I did learn a new word.. elongated play! I had to Google elongated 😬 I’m not a great sleeper, I do play at funny hours, not every day. Sometimes I leave it weeks too as busy out n about and work/study.

I’ve joined all British Casino now and had these emails. It makes me feel like I’ve done something wrong with so many questions. I didn’t set limit but some hooya or something appeared about income then disappeared.
It’s a bit confusing but I like their site I just get weird pop ups sometimes and then emails now. Some friends are older n said it’s to protect themself not you. I don’t know. I’ve just said I’m fine cause I am. If I keep getting them I’ll shut acct. I don’t mind either way, I guess it’s fair to ask if you’re ok etc I thought they meant generally. 🤩 I should have stuck with subway surfers and other boring games maybe. I won’t go to casinos with my male friends. They go all night n don’t get asked a thing. Oh well.

coming from someone who works in igaming, you haven't done anything wrong, it's just sticking to UKGC requirements and the casino having a duty of care towards they're players. If you would prefer not to be asked any safer gaming questions, you can always go on sketchy unregulated sites, but I wouldn't really recommend that :p

I gamble for over 20 years I never agree to send proof of income or bank etc, you can refuse, casino will close your account and pay the balance

Got one this morning. It must be me but it reads quite cold now like thx for that, that’s it (for now) but we may be back again. I don’t deal well with uncertainty or sudden surprises so it’s starting to annoy me. If they’re not happy just shut it tbh Im at the point of not caring now. Feels like my old HT who would follow me around achool. 💩

same here as @justdoit as soon as they want to know things like my salary etc I say bye bye. Just a personal thing for me, because of personal situations :)
A check? Like those emails asking if I’m happy ? No but not been there long.
I mean I’ve just been asked if I’m happy with deposits and stuff I’m not sure what a check is? I’ve not given any docs.

bet365 use to send to me, I ignore all they give up
I’ve got one bank asking to fill in income n job n am I British etc now, I only started work June last year, it’s an hourly rate so monthly it changes, my salary doesn’t go there either. Another thing to close. I saw MrQ do open banking checks using clearstake or something? Googled that n that’s a no. Mum doesn’t even ask to check my bank acct, it’s private. She used to help me budget but she’s never asked to do that. She just tried to say “if you’re driving 90 miles for some chicken that’s quite an expensive chicken dinner 😭

I sent another back today n they’ve finally explained why they contacted me which was I hit a threshold for deposits. So that’s why they also said we may contact again. I guess if I hit another one so it’s over (for now). I’ve already been verified by hooya or whatever it is idk

No, doesn’t sound great 😬

Just curious, you've never triggered a check on ABC?

Ive hit the threshold twice on there.
Yes sorry, I sent back an email today a bit cross n they finally said it’s cause I hit a deposit threshold n they’d only be in touch again if I hit another one n just check in again. They’re nice it’s the tone of it. I’m probs too sensitive.

Isn't that a bit risky? Say I won big like 100k and they ask for SOW which I don't want to send in because it's an invasion of privacy, I just close my account and they send me the 100k just like that?
