RTG Download Problem--Can someone help?

Yes, You're able to download still, but the file becomes corrupt/unusable.

Someone with the problem should at least try this, if only to rule DNS problems out. This is Windows, and you will be surprised at some of the unlikely solutions proposed that actually turn out to be the correct ones.

The DNS is usually set up by your ISP, however if the ISP has faulty DNS, or is deliberately blocking some sites, problems will occur. If it is ISP blocking, rather than "automatically detect" you want to specify a third party DNS that is not subject to censoring. Firewalls that screen out some sites can also cause this problem.

Many casino installers are not actually installers, but a small application that then "calls home" to the casino server to download and install the casino. If this "call home" function is blocked, you will get an error when trying to install. If it is a firewall issue, it should be possible to configure it. I have mine on "notify when blocking", so that I can allow Microgaming clients to access the update server. I have noticed that this action is blocked by default in the firewall, and without notify switched on, it would fail silently, and I would be wondering why no MGS casino could launch and install the games.

Most security software considers online casinos as "high risk", hence they tend to be blocked. Players have to configure such software themselves to allow them to work. CS will often just say "disable your security", but this can be very risky, and configuring it is the better option.

I wonder if anyone with the problems installing casino's has considered the possibility that there might be gambling blocking software on their computer? It could have been installed by a spouse, significant other, family member unknown to the user.

Existing installs would be affected wouldn't they? And flash versions? Both were fine for me. Just never could get a new install up and running to try out a 'new' casino.

p.s. Mine is set to obtain DNS server automatically. Always is.

What is the size of the download file that you're getting? I think it's somewhere in the area of 1.3-1.4 for most RTG's.

If not, it means that the problem is with the download itself, not with the installation

Also to disprove it's a dns issue, you could take the computer, assuming it's a laptop to somewhere else outside of your ISP and download the software and try that. Another thing to try is get someone else to download it on a different isp and put it on a flash drive and then try installing from there. Another option is for someone else to download the installation file and email it to you. Gmail will let you attach some fairly big files.

I'll download and email for someone if they want, just pm me with your email addy and what casino you want me to send.

Your problem is with your DNS.

Please make sure you have no spyware installed and rerouting you through a different DNS server.

Here is a little quick guide to help you fix your problem, Hope this helps.

Step 1: Goto Start Menu and Click on Run, Now type ncpa.cpl and hit enter.

Step 2: Right Click on Local Area Connection then Properties

Step 3: Now scroll down the menu and Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties and now you should see General Tab, Make sure Obtain DNS server automatically is selected, If not then please do so.

Step 4: Press OKand then Close the previous window, It might ask for you to restart windows but unlikely. If so, then restart the computer and everything should be fine.

If you still have the issue, then it will be the DNS settings in your ROUTER, If you have a router then let me know and I'll walk you through that process.

Also, If you're using COMODO Firewall or Any COMODO software that would be another conflict aswell, COMODO Firewall/Anti-Virus software comes with COMODO Secure DNS which changes your default DNS server and re-routes through COMODO's and will not allow downloads and what not from gaming sites... not sure why, but it does.

Best of Luck!

It does not work, or atleast not for me. My settings were already set the way you describe, and I still get this message:

I only get it with RTG, I downloaded a TOPGAME site just to see if it woule download, and it did without any problems.

Out of curiosity, what OS are you all using? What version of IE are you using? Did you have this problem before service pack 3 if you are using XP? Also, have you recently uninstalled any RTG casinos? If so, make sure they were fully uninstalled and didn't leave any "goodies" behind, this may be causing some of the install errors.

Good questions and also it might help to run a registry cleaner such as in CCleaner.

Vista/IE8

Tried installing a different/new RTG both before and after I uninstalled all RTG. I always download to computer, then 'run as admin', tried turning off all AV/firewall, rebooting after install, etc., etc. ... Don't have any screenshots. Haven't tried to install one in a couple months.

Like I said, haven't played in a couple years, only tried it a few times to give a free chip a go. Not worth it, with max cash outs and max withdrawals these days anyway. LOL

I didn't have this problem when I was running Windows 7 with IE8, but like I said, hubby tried to help me out and upgraded IE to 9 and now I can't install any RTG. Now I also get error messages from the casinos I have installed, but they still run okay. I get the error messages but nothing happens, just message box pops up.

Are you using a router by any chance?
And which version of windows?

Hi Guys,

It seems from this thread that quite a few of you are having some problems.
If any player is having issues downloading our software or getting games to install please send me a PM with your username and details of the problem.
(It can be a bit tricky try to find out who you are from your forum usernames.)

We can then put all of the details together and send over a batch of info to RTG tech team. The more info they have the more likely they will be able to find the case and a subsequent resolution.
If they need any further information we can then request this from each of you directly.

Thanks in advance - lets see if we can get to the bottom of this.

Best Regards

Problems with all RTG installers

I am so frustrated with this problem but the instant play works fine....No one at the casino has been too helpful.
The same error message occurs with Rushmore and others who use RTG sites. Anyone who has any ideas beyond
what has been posted would be greatly appreciated. I have tried most everything I know to do and nothing works.

Windows 7 with IE9. Yes I do have a router, Linksys with cable connection.

It is really not a big deal to me as I have given up RTG for awhile. Just not worth it, to many dead spins and spinning over 150 times to get a feature that pays less than your bet, and that is just about every RTG now, so I say So long, thanks for the memories!

Actually, If you wouldn't mind, could you download

and perform "Do a system scan only" and save a log and message it to me?

Well I realized that I can install from a CD. So DNS seems plausible. I checked and I am not being hi-jacked or rerouted.

The only changes I have made recently to my PC is (a) upgrading the firmware on my Linksys router and (b) installing .NET Framework.

On this PC, I have XP Pro and IE8.

@VWM - I tried saving the file and closing the browser but got the same error message.

@InetBet - You guys helped me with tech issues several years ago (a favor that I have never forgotten) when no other casino rep even tried. I'm sending a copy of this post to you via PM with my InetBet username. Feel free to contact me for details.

Have you tried booting into safe mode with networking?
I had this same problem that everyone is having and then i remember a while back, that i switched my dns from my cable providers automatic to COMODOS, after that..... Everything was perfect.

I had windows xp pro and windows 7 installed, dual boot option and it did the same thing on windows 7, So i thought... impossible!? And that kinda helped me figure out it was not a program blocking it, but instead my DNS settings.

@bAdSmoker - no luck trying to install in safe mode w/networking but thanks for the suggestion.

@iNetBet Promo - below is the screenshot you requested by PM.

XP Pro; IE v8

Only other thing that I can think of at the moment is for you to login to your routers setup page and restore factory settings and then redo your passcode and what not if it's wifi, but please make a backup of your current settings before doing so.

If this does not work, I'll think of other things.
The main thing is that, It's not downloading the application properly, I know there are some programs like "ZoneAlarm" and Malwarebytes that will conflict sometimes and cause this.

Let me know if this helps.

HI All,

Sorry for the delay in getting back with some additional information.

For those of you having issues getting the download to install and receiving errors.
We have spoken to RTG and they have implemented an upgraded the software so as to fix this problem.
In order for this to take effect you need to fully uninstall the software on your computer and then re-download afresh.

Please can you try the following and let us know how you get on? You can either do this via PM or with an email to support@inetbet.com

Delete the existing casino software by going to: Start > Control Panel and clicking on Add or Remove Programs. Locate the casino software from the list and click uninstall. You should then delete the casino directory (under Program Files by default).

Then perform the following registry edits
1. Go to command prompt and type "regedit"
2. Under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Registry, navigate to Software -> RealTime Gaming and highlight the iNetBet Casino folder and delete it.
(Only do this if you are certain of what you are doing. If not then skip this step)

Next you should open Internet Explorer and go to Tools > Internet Options.

On the general tab clear the temporary files, delete cookies, and click the settings button then make sure every visit to page is selected.

You should then re-install the casino and try to access the games.

Hi All,
Yes I agree with Nifty.
I did try to be as clear as possible so that no mistakes are made.

If you follow the instructions as given and only delete the iNetBet Folder you will be fine.
Having said that if you really are not sure then do as Nifty suggests.

Please bear in mind this is only for people who are having problems. If this is not the case then please do not change anything :)

If unsure, players could skip the regedit step and see if the procedure clears the problem.

Another option would be to run CCleaner and Advanced System Care after uninstalling the casino, as the registry tools may clean up that key once the software is no longer attached to it.

Backing up the registry first would ensure a safe exit is possible if the edit is screwed up. CCleaner asks "make backup yes/no" before applying the "fix" suggested by it's registry cleaner, and "yes" should be selected. The backup file can later be deleted if nothing goes wrong.

The specific "iNetBet" key is recreated every time the iNetBet installer is used, so deleting it just means a clean version gets recreated. The reason RTG have included this step is that the data in this key may have become corrupt, and is why the install keeps producing this error. Deleting temporary files prevents the OS from loading old web data from it's local cache, thus forcing the install to download everything from the casino server, which will force the new patched version to be downloaded and used for the install, which is what is wanted.

I would have no worries doing this, I do it on a regular basis to fix corruption problems with Microgaming.

No entry in Registry for Real Time Gaming nor Inetbet

Several problems occur with this procedure.

One I use dial up only and to delete a working program such as InetBet would take me several weeks to replace the games providing it even would reinstall. And I don't want to take the chance of losing it entirely. The problem is with the installation, not the running program.

The problem is with RTG not just one casino.

That said I checked my registery and there is no entry for Real Time Gaming nor InetBet nor any of the other names that I do have loaded.

I went to my download folder and deleted all entries for setup.exe for these programs.

I have been trying to download Lucky Club from their site. They are RTG. After rechecking all of the above I again tried to load their casino. I can get the setup file downloaded, but as usual with all of the others, when the RTG installation file starts to install, it switches to the Windows Installer and produces that same error that has been posted here before.
Lucky Club had not been installed on this computer before, so that cannot be a conflict.

For what it is worth--that is my story. I hope it helps!

MaryJean
p.s. The casinos CAN be installed from a CD, but we don't usually get them anymore.
