I have a question Meister :D

More and more markets will be regulated and I am wondering how this will affect your accredited list.

Will you accept that accredited casinos operates illegally in regulated markets or not ?

It's a good question but it's going to be a nightmare to administer because the information isn't always easy to come by and if France is anything to go by, the list will be far from a constant.

I agree - the different nations are all over the place with their arrangements at present, and the regulatory harmonisation that the EC is trying to achieve is really necessary.

In Bryan's shoes I would definitely hold fire on penalising accredited casinos until there is more clarity on how this is all going to evolve.

Trying to keep track of who's licensed where is a massive headache and I see no reason why the EEU can't just get together and regulate as one collective license - one fee paid to the authority to cover arbitration and administration of the licencees and then a flat rate tax payable to the country of residence of the player. Nice and simple. If we can have freedom of work/travel why not online gambling? It's madness.

It would also be nice if there was an eu license that was officially administered by an authority who took it seriously, rather than a cash cow. Some MEP needs to step up, stop making ridiculous laws and do something that is actually useful!

Just saying... ;)

That would be great, but like most things there would be all sorts of bickering over who gets what money and blah blah blah. Every country is different and they all have their own reasons for wanting regulation. Some want to protect state run gambling monopolies others tourist destinations and so on, so it is a very complex matter and I don't think one solution will ever suit all.

i think the Meister should carry on as he is doing presently and if a casino has a license in a country but is UN fair
to a player or aff into the pit with them if a country is belligerent to his inquire;s into the pit with them

we got a system that's not broken so lets not mess with it there all going to be newbies any way along with jobs they get from favors from relatives and friends it is what it is fair and square period this is miester world were we call rogues ,rogues

any thing else will under mine this site

great men take bold steps in the face of adversity

I agree. I think affiliates and websites should bear a responsibility to ensure that players are only directed to safe and trustworthy brands but ultimately it is down to the player (and casino obviously) to know the legalities of playing relevant to them and their jurisdiction.

A fair solution would be for countries to receive a flat tax on the profits made by players in that country. This needs to be an EU wide rate so that no one country can cut deals to compete with the rest. All EU countries would have to agree on the system, and the tax rates. Protection of state monopolies is already outlawed by EU treaties, but there are some opt-outs for a small number of industries, and many states try to slip in subsidies by the back door, which then allows their state supported industries to have an unfair advantage.

Pretty much what Simmo said covers my stance. It's not my position to be an "enforcer" or a lawyer; I'm giving people information and whether they act upon it or not is their business. Players and affiliates bear the responsibility for their decisions.

I could even go into how regulation does not necessarily provide players protection at all, but is merely an instrument for taxation (Malta for example). It's a complex and debatable subject. In my opinion, it's up to the player - just as long as the player is well informed.
