Well, not for long.

The LGA license will mean little after December 2014, you will need a license from the UKGC as well in order to be allowed to market into the UK. You will also have to calculate and pay tax on revenue derived from UK players to HMRC.

When a casino proudly boasts that they have just gotten a license from Malta, the experienced will think "big deal - so what", as the LGA is not known for it's protection of consumers, merely a convenience for operators so that they can use the EU rules to access markets such as the UK.

So your moving away from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission who seems to have gotten there stuff together to go with one who does not seem to care in the LGA

You have to wonder if there is not some wheeling and dealing on the upcoming new Brit p.o.c. rules going on behind the scenes between the British government and its "white list" of regulators like Gib, IOM, Malta, Alderney etc...this is purely speculative, but perhaps that's the reason everyone at Red Returns is jubilant over securing a Malta licence?

But is this not just the operator hedging his bets whilst staying on with KGC (which, as Matt correctly notes, has come a long way down the reform road)?

Perhaps the rep can tell us whether the KGC licencing is to be abandoned?

I'm just being curious here but what does an operator gain by moving from Kahnawake to Malta? "Opportunities in the UK market" is quite vague.

It's possible that already having a license in a whitelisted jurisdiction makes the process for gaining the required UK license easier, which would give the operator a head start over those who face a harder time gaining the required UK license. The main effect is that no UK license means no TV ads, and this is probably the most powerful tool for gaining customers who are new to online casinos altogether.

Given how angry Gibraltar was over the UK proposals, it is entirely possible that there have been some concessions made in order to placate these whitelisted jurisdictions.
