Protection for Affiliates/Marketers

Ahhhh so I see

Sorry you got dragged into the frying pan - quite possibly we can all get back to work now - that logo is waiting.

None of the previous has much to do with lauching a group that will be to affiliates what eCOGRA is to players.

I understand that is what the idea is, and I am in support of that.

I agree that the logo is too close to eCOGRA's and Brian already said he was changing it.

If the organization comes off the ground, it will not be run by Brian but a comittee, if it patterns after eCOGRA.

In the face of several programs recently being in breach of contract with affiliates, and eCOGRA stating that they are not actually vouching for the integrity of their member casinos but only looking after their players, it has become obvious that some sort of protection for affiliates is needed.

Affiliates work for free, have no benefits, no retirment, no sick pay, no health insurance - all they have to go by is the promise of the programs that they will get paid in a certain manner.

You allow that promise to be breached - who is volunteering to raise their family based on a promise that can and has been broken? What kind of situation is that to be in?

You try that in the real world and hell will break lose!

I'm confused. Speaking as an outsider, I thought the GPWA was the "affiliates eCOGRA".

I've pontificated before about the disadvantages affiliates have in the affiliate marketing model. What Party Poker is doing is clearly unethical in my opinion--they wouldn't have had the numbers to make billions of dollars without affilate marketing and now that they've collected the cash they're changing their affiliate terms. I've posted to that effect on investment boards discussing the IPO (along with Party's origins in gaffed table games as Iglobal Media).

A joint that treats affiliates badly will treat players badly.

There is no independent and non-proft organization looking at the marketing side of things.

I would think that the more responsible casinos would be pleased with such an organization - I would imagine that, unlike eCOGRA, it would also look at other marketing techniques. Such as the fact that Playtech casinos today are sponsoring search engine spamming that is making the entire industry look shoddy and sinister.

Who is going to try to take care of that? More and more, I see the efforts of the US DOJ bear fruit - the intent was to starve the online casino industry and drive it underground and make it a criminal element.

This appears to be succeeding.

And yes, you betcha, if contracts with affiliates are breached, contracts with players will be breached too. Once that flood gate is open, it flows.

Well isn't this sweet?

You forgot to put a screenshot of the "Crapmeister" page. What's up with that? Fair is fair - you ought to release a "press release" on your little rant.

You know what? I've thought about this for the past two minutes and have come to the conclusion that I don't have time for this stupid shit. Sorry Brian, you aren't welcome here anymore.
