So what you're saying is that you honestly don't think that the ease of gun ownership in America is a problem? I think most of the rest of the world would disagree with you..

Why do you think in the UK we haven't had a school shooting for 23 years? Why has there been no mass shootings in Europe this year but over 20 in the US?

You honestly think that's all because of mental illness? No... it's because the US has a gun culture. You can't show any facts or figures that show it in any other way. And if you can I'd happily look in to it.

Well I said im in favor for stricter backround checks and options to deter the mentally ill.

And yes I do think its all to do with mental illness. If you can pull the trigger and kill 17 children no problem, you have serious issues.

But you are being one track minded right now and only focusing on guns. Research how many attacks in europe without guns. Vehicles driven into groups, bombings, knife attacks etc. People find a way.

You're kidding right? We have hunting in the UK and Europe but you can't walk in to a Wal-Mart and buy an assault rifle.

Also we don't have guns readily available or readily owned in the UK - and oddly we don't all feel we need guns to protect ourselves from people breaking in to murder us because quite simply it happens so rarely it's not even an issue here. Same in Europe. So why is it such an issue in America?

The fact you need to use that argument just goes to show that there is an innate societal problem in the US...

Why am I kidding? I was responding to him saying all guns should be illegal to everyone. Why are you making it into something its not? It was a response to his comment.

what he said was perfect...there is no need for the word gun in this speech....the media love to pick on everything...its too much.....i don't agree with him on a lot of things...but the media needs to stop...its nauseating

I want one day in my life I can go and check my emails and not be bombarded by 12 different trump bashing articles. Just one day. :D God I couldnt believe it when there was articles everyday saying he watches too much tv and drinking too much diet coke. I was like please stop. You wanna call him out and make articles on something actually controversial he does, yeah go ahead. But bashing him what he drinks and eats etc i just bleh.

I honestly feel like the media is doing more harm than good for the left side. Aside from some of the fake news, the never ended pathetic crap they pump out has to be turning people off. Its almost blatantly reads "we have an agenda and we are recruiting you to be our sheep". So if the time comes when trump does something bad... a whole pile of people wont care or wont believe it.

Well like it or not Brexit and Trump were voted for by their respective populations so I guess these news network don't like democracy very much.

Damn right. Unless the vote goes the wrong way for the liberal elite, in which case there's a case for a re-vote. Lets chuck in Russian Collusion etc to justify it or - my personal favorite -, talk about there only being "small margins" of victory.

Its either a democratic vote or its not, being a moral fascist about what you think is good or evil/misogynistic/racist doesn't cut it.

For the reason that you're saying people should have guns to protect their house from people wanting to murder them... like this is some sort of regular occurrence. It might be in the US. It isn't in any other western country.

but are you serious?
what question was that?
cuz there is nothing to answer when you seem to be having an argument that doesn't make sense...and all by yourself may i add.

this is what i said: "So no.... not just one thing he said about women. These are big issues for a lot of women"

he won the election for very complex reasons...too many to list and beyond our skills to analyze...so for you to come and ask this question is reducing his election win to a simple answer.

why did 50% of women vote for him? you seem to have the answer...which seems to be that he really has a great attitude toward women...and that i am just being emotional and spreading fake news and using it to attack him...cuz if he had such a bad attitude toward women...why did all those women vote for him...they voted for him for a multitude of reasons....and the women who didn't vote for him also did so for a multitude of reasons...so it doesn't come down to if they have an issue with his abhorrent(your word)attitude toward women...

so there is no reason to answer your question...cuz the answer to that question is far beyond the scope of this debate....

my statement stands. oh...lets not forget the women's march on the day of the inauguration.....a lot of unhappy women showed up for that....did they have an issue with his attitude towards women...you betya.

and ....you think my post that women have issues with trump....is a controversial view....that is laughable......just google...and you will get a list of his comments that were said on tape,on video...in his books....not fake news...and not that controversial...it has become the norm.....just recently...siding with rob porter...siding with roy moore....just more things to add to a long list...

and i would refrain from saying that i used emotive language...again attributing your own views and perception of my post...

I agree he has made some controversial comments in the past in regards to females and I do not like that. It does come across disrespectful.

Here is where it boils down to for me. Woman marching, protesting and what have you for equalization. But those same woman can hurl insults to men and their appearances and it be ok. But because a man makes it to a female, its all of the sudden super offensive because suddenly that woman plays the 'all woman are soft and feelings get hurt easily' card.

New York times did a story awhile ago about Hillary Clinton and how poorly she treated both men and woman. There was even voice recordings of her joking around about Bills obvious sexual talents because of how many females he messed with.

And what kind of image and example are you setting for other females out there when you husband is sex predator and you stay married to him and support him just to gain political power for yourself. Did the media crucify her for this?

It doesnt make it right what Trump has said in the past. But everyone needs to be realistic and realize the both sexes and political leaders were guilty of some garbage themselves.

I agree with you here... bashing for the sake of it is pointless. And doesn't help anyone. It just makes people immune to the actual issues when they occur... which is kind of what is happening now. Some people can't see the good and some people can't see the bad. Some people see both.

This thread is proof of both sides.

For the reason that you're saying people should have guns to protect their house from people wanting to murder them... like this is some sort of regular occurrence. It might be in the US. It isn't in any other western country.

I dont know what the murder rates in America are even though I could probably do some research and find it, but yes I do believe a person should have the right to own a gun for hunting or protection.

In regards to protection. I believe the USA is one of the most targeted countries because they take on the role of the world police. And because of the immigration policies of the past many immigrants from countries the usa has targeted have come to the USA either legally or illegally and committed crimes. Also, with a diverse population of 150 million people I do support owning a gun for protection. I do not support people who are at risk to owing a gun. Hence why I suggest backround checks etc

I did read it... I also checked after posting my reply in the interest of fairness, and most of the mass shootings in the US are not attributable to any form of mental health issue so in this respect you may have a point - although today’s was. That said I agree that the ban was ill thought through.

I still don’t think Trump should have rescinded it without putting something more meaningful in place but I take your point on this.

I was shocked when I first heard about the rescinding, there is a post about it somewhere, but my pragmatic side said there must be more to it, couldn't find much at that time but once you brought it up made me revisit it.

Parts of it make sense, but I agree with you.

I posted the murder rates a while back as my counter argument to open borders, its 4.8% per 100K, Canada was like 1.5% and Mexico was 22.5%.

The population of USA is something like 320 million.

Just make it illegal to have guns, unless your a police, agent, soldier etc.
Ordinary people shouldnt be allowed! Its THAT easy!

It will save lots of american lives in the USA (any country really). Lots of gun owners seems to be going craaaaazzzzyyyy when they get to play with their dangerous stupid toys..

Trump? Hes just a big bad bully!
He was just elected couse they didnt want Hillary Clinton.
Couse shes a woman or couse shes a politician?
Politicians are all bad, but atleast you know what they are doing.
Not even Trump himself knows what he is doing, so how can any1 else?

Really no need for military assault rifles for civilians, only military and police. If civilians want to shoot these types of weapons they can go to a range and rent one while they are there.

That is crazy mexican murder rates

Not sure where I got the 150 million from I must have been thinking something else :what:

I think Canada's gun laws are perfect for this country. I would not like to see the USA gun laws here thats for sure. Completely unneeded but Im ok with the USA gun laws aside from they need more checks etc and agree with no need for people to carry around automatic weapons.

Florida has pretty weak gun laws. I didn't know they were this laxed.

Gun laws need to be incorporated at the Federal level.

Noise that you’re government voted on.....
This was the vote on Russian Sanctions:

House: 419-3
Senate: 98-2

Since when do we not follow the laws....they have become meaningless.

Riiiiiiiight. Did you read my reply? The vote was a waste of taxpayer money. It reversed a special privilege that Russia, by law, doesn't allow anyway. There was no change. The sanctions are in place.

What I find most disturbing about this thread is that there obviously some people who just simply can’t see the bad in Trump (and i think Clinton was bad but in different ways) and don’t see how much damage he’s doing to the US both internally and externally.

There are also those of us probably swayed too much by the MSM - maybe me included to an extent.

If he kept off twitter and learnt how to temper his impulsiveness most of the bluster about him would probably disappear.

I see that there are reports from one of the House Comittees that there is a lot of evidence not yet public with regards to Trump and Russians. If there is, then let’s see it rather than playing the media circus round and round and round.

I’m sure there is no smoke without fire - but they need to put this to bed one way or the other.

There. Was. No. Collusion.

The right to bear arms has more to do with protecting ones self from the government. I think it is important not to lose sight of this very important fact. This will never change.

Gun Laws (like immigration laws) need tweaking. More importantly, they need to be enforced. How difficult could it be, really? Driving and vehicle ownership laws are very complex. You have to have a license to drive. Your vehicle must be registered. You must take a written and physical exam. You have to maintain insurance and renew your vehicle registration annually. Why should gun ownership and operation be any less complex or enforceable?

And you know this for a fact how? You are literally just trotting out the Trump mantra without any knowledge of the facts over and above what anybody else can possibly know - unless you are working within the DOJ....

What am I trotting out?
You are saying this coming off the heels of making some vague reference to "reports from one of the House Comittees that there is a lot of evidence"
There is no proof of collusion. You even said as much: "If there is, then let’s see it rather than playing the media circus round and round and round."

Do you not see the irony in this quote by you? So again I ask, what Committee?

The way you perceive and present "facts' in this thread is beginning to make me question your insider gaming expertise.

This is article i was referring to:

This is exactly what i was referring to - if there IS evidence, then let's see it, rather than just say that there is. I've never said in any post that i know for a fact that there is collusion...
To blindly say "there is no collusion" and laugh about is just as silly as saying there is, given the current knowledge base that the public has.

Adam Schiff is not a committee.

Adam Schiff is not a committee.

Adam Schiff said the House Intelligence Committee panel had seen evidence of collusion with Russia and obstruction by Donald Trump’s campaign and administration that is not yet public

Not sure how you can infer anything else from that statement... unless you're calling him a liar or calling this fake news. In which case i assume you have evidence to the contrary. Feel free to post the link and i'll happily read it (unless it's from Infowars - then i won't) :)

I will reiterate for clarity - i am NOT saying there has or hasn't been collusion. Either way, evidence will have to be presented for it to become fact. There is not enough factual evidence in the public domain to decide one way or the other.

I am merely stating that this person has stated that there is.

"I am merely stating that this person has stated that there is."

Right....

So how worthwhile is his opinion? Lets see shall we:):

Congressman to California - the most leftwing state in the whole of the US.
Lifelong Democrat.
Voted against (deep breath):

1. The Mexican Wall.
2. Reporting of illegal aliens receiving US medical Treatment.
3. The DACA Phase out.
4. The blocking of diversity VISA.
5. Sanction against North Korea, Iran and Russia.

So not at all a biased source then.

"Not sure how you can infer anything else from that statement... unless you're calling him a liar or calling this fake news. In which case i assume you have evidence to the contrary".

So you are putting out biased, third party hearsay as a statement of fact and then effectively saying "prove me wrong."

Don't you have a whole thread dedicated to the fairness of slots opposing that very same logic? I think you do.

Do you have issue with my question to Harry? Could you explain to me how my question went low?

Not really kelly jo....this was a response to Harry’s question to me ....he asked me how else was he supposed to answer you when I suggested he was being rude in his response to you. ....he then underlined that you called him arrogant and condescending. he asked how else should he have responded to you ....and I said go high....c’est tout.

Riiiiiiiight. Did you read my reply? The vote was a waste of taxpayer money. It reversed a special privilege that Russia, by law, doesn't allow anyway. There was no change. The sanctions are in place.

I read your reply...that was not my point...my point is...laws are becoming meaningless...

Again maybe you can explain to me why he chooses not to sign off on this...are rules and ways the government should operate meaningless....And if so what is the point...

As well, please tell me what prompted this vote on sanctions against Russia.

Thank you. I was sure this sort of thing went against your style that's why I asked. I misunderstood the context.

I'm not saying he isn't biased against trump... he may or may not be. But you can't dismiss his statement based on how has voted.

If he's lying then as I've said the truth will surely come out in the end...

Someone remind me how many times we were told there was no Russian meddling in the election.

“Special counsel Robert Mueller on Friday indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies for interfering in the 2016 U.S. election. The lead defendant is the “Internet Research Agency,” known as Russia’s “troll farm.” They are charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft. “Some Defendants, posing as US persons and without revealing their Russian association, communicated with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump Campaign,” the criminal complaint claims. The document also names specific fake groups or events created by the Russian nationals, like “

Firstly.I agree to an extent that mental illness plays a part in the vast majority of these shootings. Then again I believe mental illness has a lot to do with most terrorist acts carried out by fanatics in general.
However, how does it square up that something like 95% of these shootings in schools in america are carried out by males when the ratio of male/female mental illnesses are more or less on a par with each other?

With regards to "Russian hacking",are we supposed to believe that America are are downtrodden and picked on third World Country who are forever targeted by Russia while being pristine clean themselves?
Let us remember that we are talking about the same America. The America who do not just interfere in other Countries politics and businesses but kills.
How many leaders of Countries have they killed in recent years? How many have they killed or attempted to kill over the past 50 years or so? My guess is dozens killed and countless assassination attempts directly relating to American policy and/or CIA involvement.
How many attempts on Fidel Castro alone? They have reduced some Countries to being just puppets.
Libya's Gadaffi was stripped naked, beaten up,abused then had a knife shoved up his arse on video before he was murdered by folk doing Americas bidding.Hillary Clinton when hearing the news famously mocked him which can be seen scattered through the below video. Her words simply sum up America's bullying attitude.

Yet they scream that Russia "interfered in the election"!
If the hacking/interference happened then under who's administration did it happen in? Hillary's great buddy,Obama's!
If he didn't do anything to stop it in the lead up to the election then why did he not at least do something in the two months he stayed in charge until the inaugeration of Trump? Inquiries? Sanctions against Russia? He seemed to have done nothing!

If it happened then America looks inept. If it didn:t happen then the Dems, liberals and their chummy media friends look bad. Then if it is proven that the Russians influenced the election illegally they still have to prove Trumps involvement to impeach him. Given the cyber world as it is now I would not be surprised if many folk would have the nohow to pretend to be a Russian hacker from any given part of the glob all the while being sat a few miles away from the White house.
Its a no win for Trump detractors as far as I see.
And what will happen if Trump was impeached? There would not be another election. You would get Pence

....and sorry....its not IF IT HAPPENED....the russians meddled in the election...these indictments were not just for show....

trump will not be impeached...it won't get to that...

and yes obama was aware...as was clinton...as was trump....as presidential candidates they get briefed....and president obama put sanctions in place against the russians.......and no he didn't do enough to stop it...

Yes you can dismiss his statement on how he voted and yes he is biased against Trump.

Bias:

“bias noun (PREFERENCE) C2 [ C usually singular, U ] the action of supporting or opposing a particular person or thing in an unfair way, because of allowing personal opinions to influence your judgment: The senator has accused the media of bias. Reporters must be impartial and not show political bias.”

of course you can dismiss it - he has an obvious axe to grind against Trump. Politically he has everything to gain from a lie against him.

His statements are worthless from a factual point of view as he is obviously politically biased against him.

That’s kind of (exactly) how bias and motive works.

I think the problem is the media not telling the whole story as usual.

Russian trolls were also the ones that organized an anti trump rally post election and black lives matter events.

They were trying to cause unrest in the country.

And if people are swayed by stuff russian trolls were posting on twitter and facebook etc well thats pretty pathetic.

Your comment on mental illness in regards to sexes comes down to one question. Do you believe a totally sane and normal person can plot to kill a bunch of children, follow through with it and simply end innocent peoples lives and move on to the next? There have been countless studies done that show that females are less violent than males in every violent category. I read a study awhile ago that females tend to commit murders through poisoning and fires. And men do so with shootings. What most studies come to the conclusion of is evolution between sexes. So just because a female isnt shooting up a school and men are, doesnt mean it isnt less of an illness

The whole libya situation can be argued and picked apart if people want. But the only thing that really matters is he threatened to march on his citizens with his army and ordered them into the streets to kill all protesters. If america was doing it for political reasons, well blame Gadaffi for basically giving the americans a real reason to go after him.

Will Trump be impeached? I wouldnt be surprised when you have people investigating you who are incredibly bias.

Just want to add I think what people need to start accepting is that it wasnt Trump that was involved. Its Russia trying cause mayhem in the USA political system.

Just last week, Russians tried to sell a fake hooker, Trump video to the NSA.

Also, the facebook marketing manager in charge of facebook ads has stated that most of the ads purchased were after the election and much of it was not election related. These ads were given to congress, Mueller and the investigation team. The facebook ads manager spoke out and stated that they relayed this to numerous media outlets but those media companies chose not to release them because it went against their agenda.

I decided to try and find any statements directly from facebook to see if it was true. And I found all of those statements on his verified twitter account.

I don't get how the words "liberal" and "far left" and other are used by some people. Isn't far left something found in old China, old USSR? Isn't liberty a good thing?

Had to look meaning of “liberal” in the English Dictionary

So it means respect, freedom, fairness. This is not "far left". Respect, freedom, fairness are good things.
Things this forum stands for. Right?

When I say liberals I mean the far left or progressives which has taken control of the Democratic party in the USA.

I think some are mistaking 'Classical Liberalism' with today's leftie ideals. The two aren't even remotely connected. Same goes for people mistaking the original context of Feminism -ie equality of the sexes- with today's rendition, namely third-wave feminism, which basically encourages women to view men as inferior and useless to the world

I've no time right now to respond to the last few replies because I've a very busy day ahead and it would

...what does this mean....

About guns.....
The violence, the killing, has to stop. Something other than praying must be done.
Some statistics :

There is no question about it, more guns = more deaths.
Everybody should have the right to protect themselves and their families. With what though? An atomic bomb, small scale maybe?
So there is always a line on what you can use for protection and statistics and logic say that this line should be at non-lethal means.

It is not easy. There is a gun culture and a lot of money involved. But something must be done and nothing has worked so far in US. Something works in other countries though, doesn't it make sense to try it?
People have another right, not to be afraid to send their kids to school.
