Has anyone else noticed recently there has been an abundance of Starburst clones coming out? Why do they insist on tormenting us with clones of one of the most dreadful slots ever created and to make it more insulting they often have worse pay tables and look hideous! Even more amusing or not so amusing depending how you look at it these games make the original starburst look great in comparison! Here's many of the clones I've came across. STARMAN(HOLLAND GAMES),MEGA GEMS,STARMANIA(NYX),FRUIT ZEN AND BOOMANJI(BETSOFT),MAGICIOUS,TOKI TIME(THUNDERKICK),WINSTAR(blueprint),DICE ROLL(EGT),SPINNING STARS AND OTHERS(NOVOMATIC) There is much more than this but I can't remember the names of them. Hopefully they notice this post and stop making clones. Make some doa clones or playboy ones that would make me happy!

Hmm, was this the thread were i need to give my vote to apply for more Starburst-like games?
Or did i get it wrong?

I am sorry buddy, couldn't resist, but i can agree the whole gambling world has quite a few clones too many, be it of their own products or from other providers.. But you have to admit that it's hard to stay original, with basically every theme, reel-shape, mechanism and bonusgame, already being done at one point! Luckily the newer and smaller providers try their best, or so it seems, to make a name for themselves by offering originality.

But even Thunderkick for example, has already made sort of a starburst clone like you stated above, and a Jack hammer one too: and they are one of the most innovative newer guys out there. Other newer providers all use stuff that's already implemented in other/older slots and i am sure we will keep seeing familiar stuff, but i have to say again, it's not that easy to come up with stuff that will work well, and still make money ^.^

What we as players can do, is let our money talk, and just focus our money on all the new innovative games.. but i bet that won't happen.

I guess because it is simplistic in nature and endearing to new players. Visually it is very simple and bright and appeals to casual players more than something like DOA would. So whilst it is easy to play and a gratifying lights show I fear that designers are using this template to ensnare the somewhat younger crowd.....don't be surprised if minors are the first to be drawn to this slot.

Like you said, with so many clones coming out but with progressively worse paytables they manage to make the original Starburst seem value for money and a timeless classic. And I never thought I'd say that :eek2:

It is difficult to be completely original but these are too much like starburst the only one above I'll defend is toki time because it does the starburst respin until it stops hitting line wins. This is good and create huge wins. The rest I have no mercy for to be honest. Id adore thunderkick or another company to do a good jatb clone for example because Pinocchio by betsoft is dross as is invisible man in comparison to Jack he can't lick his boots.....or his cows droppings

Starburst is the worst, its impossible to win on. The casino's dream.

Thing is I enjoy low variance slots and netent have some decent ones imo, like Steamtower. I feel like I can still win decent on that if I get lucky as well as enjoying the frequent features. Starburst is clearly designed to a casino owners specification - a casino owner who just never wants to have to pay out. Always roll my eyes when I see casinos pimping it.

Believe it or not, ALL the NetEnt operators I have spoken to have told me Starburst IS their most popular game with players

It is that simple reason that has lead other softwares to "copy" it, and NetEnt themselves have been (net)Bent on producing a similar type of slot in the hope it will be as popular - hence we now have Twin Spin, Sparks, Dazzle Me, etc...

Starburst is in fact a clone of the older Novomatic slot Power Stars, so it's funny that you refer to Starburst as the original here, NetEnt was actually copycats themselves..

The reason why you see so many different games with this type of gameplay is that Starburst is by far the number one most popular slot machine in most casinos.

I'm not that familiar with novo release dates I was just stating slots with the same mundane respin feature (which you'll rarely get anyway) It's popular because it's shiny and attractive. Yes a game does need to look nice but it also has to have good pays on small bets otherwise you need to be loaded to win anything large on it and if I had thousands to gamble with I wouldn't be high rolling on that...

yeah, but it's a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy isn't it? It's a simple slot, so new players are bribed with free spins on the infernal bloody game, then they play it later on because they are comfortable with it. I bet many long-time players regularly resort to the first game(s) they ever played online. In many casinos that will have been St*rb*rst. Thus the casinos end up believing along with developers that it's some kind of popular formula for slots, therefore perpetuating the vicious circle of St*rb*rst-free spins-favourite slot-clone the bastard-free spins on the clone etc....:(

It's a bit sad really, because it seems we can't do anything about it, I see all the Starburst hate around (which is great, keep on hating! :D) and yet it's still the most popular game around. It seems the community is in the minority and the "masses" actually play the damn thing :icon_evil I wonder how DoA ranks in popularity these days.

I have to say..

I despise starburst now, but it was the game that really got me into netent slots... :p:oops:

Years ago, betvictor gave me a bonus which could only be used on starburst. I was only really a sports better. Over the period of about a week, I turned their £10 into nearly 1k just playing starburst :D. Continual 3 stars and bars/sevens that week. I could not believe it.

Since that, I played a few times and lost every time, but expanded into real slots, and realised since how much I hate it, and their poxy 10p spins.

Oh, and Novo power stars is way better imo, has big hit potential!

I love Starburst. When you have stupid amounts of wagering left, stick on Starburst at £2,£3,£4 a spin and you go round in circles. Great stuff :D

LOL....If you saw my recent 3.5 WR Netent video I tried exactly that -50p spins on autoplay, took 60x stake off of me in minutes. No 'flash' big wins, hence just a mention in the video and no footage. In fact you've probably hit the nail on the head in explaining its 'popularity'. Players stick the stupid game on autoplay to meet a WR than go and watch a film or cook a meal before coming back to check progress. I suppose it's popular in the same way as toilet paper - everyone wipes their a$$ with it but nobody talks about it.

Well, I really like Starburst. It is pretty. I like the noises. I've had enough semi decent hits. I can bet big with a small bankroll, especially to recover when I am almost busted and lots of WR left.

Probably play it at least 2/5 deposits at casinos that offer it, at least for a bit.

Sure, I've had it eat my bankroll. But it's going to produce some "action" within a few spins, even if it pays nothing.

And it's shiny.

One of my real life friends, it is her very favourite.

Do casinos REALLY think this is an incentive to deposit ???

Thrills are doing a similar offer today. But at least the spins are Wager-free

I entered the Betat wager comp last month and got 13th place = 20 'Super Spins'. I didn't find out until afterwards that the prize was 20x 50p spins on Starburst, WITH WAGERING. I won £4.45 (with £89 wagering !!)
Needles to say, I haven't entered this month (In fact there doesn't seem to be many entrants this time), and haven't deposited at Betat since !!

So - Starburst has been migrated to HTML 5.

NetBent being the sneaky guys they are, have now made all 10 lines compulsory on Starburst. I know the mobile version was like that, but I'm really curious as to why they force you to play max lines now?

Fishy Bastards...

And Gonzo has also gone the same route... HTML 5 and they FORCE their animations on you now. There is no way to turn it off.

Which ever idiot is in charge of making these decisions - Please FIRE him. Its not about making it appealing to YOU, give players the opportunity to decide. Not everyone is impressed by cheap shitty animations for 11x bet...

Nate

Said in another thread if Netent continue down this route and other providers follow suit then I will strongly be considering hanging up my 'slotting boots'

I deposit to enjoy myself, pass time, relax - Making a withdrawal in a (very nice) extra.

Had a little taste of Twin Spin, Gonzo and Starburst and it reminded me of when I first started slotting some 14 years ago, IE: Crap!

Sad times :(

Surely with the technology and talented programmers (*coughs*) they could have made this transition to HTML5 so much better, even to the quality that we didn't even notice any difference!!!!
