I've played at and am a member of most accredited casino's here at CM and am used to sending in the usual passport/driving license, e-wallet screenshots, utility bill etc... for I.D. purposes.

I've just made my first withdrawal from another accredited casino, i've made multiple deposits over what I guess is a year but never cashed out previously. The casino has asked me to supply a photo of me holding my passport along with the passport/card scans/utility bill..... this is the first time i've been asked to do it and strikes me as a bit odd.

I've read about the occasional notarized I.D. request when bonus abuse is being investigated or where it's a very large withdrawal, but this is for a $1600 withdrawal and all other documents were available, not that it matters (to me) but there has been no bonus play on any of the last 5 deposits.

Is this usual? Have I just been lucky in the past? I'm based in the UK so know that electoral roll verification isn't unusual.

Thanks in advance

I have been asked for this once as well, but I am not sure what it is meant to prove.

My passport is almost 10 years old, and the photo of the me-then doesn't look at all like the photo of the me-now due to age :)eek2:), different hairstyle, hair colour, etc.

In fact, it could be of an entirely different person.

Or is the mere fact that I am holding a passport meant to prove that I am the legitimate owner of that passport? Hmmm....let me think about that one..

It's not odd, will always be a part of the ID verification process.

You shouldn't be offended by their request, to date hard document verification, pictures are the best way to prove ID, IMO.

More so than a lot of this new verification stuff being offered for online dating sites, online ID cards etc..

I think the idea is to prove its a real physical card, not a photoshop product..ive had it asked when my scan didnt show edges.

I've had requests for updated documents and once this too, especially once your lifetime withdrawals hit a specific amount, or you make a larger withdrawal.

As dion says, its to prove its a physical thing imo.

The casino in question has just verified my docs and processed my withdrawal within 24 (and hit my Skrill account) so thumbs-up from me, just wasn't expecting it.

Thanks for the feedback
