So earlier today we noticed she had real trouble standing, never mind walking.

We took her to the vets, and he confirmed she'd had a lead aneurysm / stroke and that she wasn't likely to recover.

She was with us after previous owners had trouble looking after her, and had her as part of the family since 2002. So all you cat lovers out there, raise a glass for her.

We said our goodbyes

I'm really sorry to hear that mate. Have had cats all my life, currently have 6 (mostly strays we've taken in). It's devastating to lose them. No matter how many times you've been through it, it never gets any easier.

While I'm on a dry January so can't raise a glass, my heart goes out to you and yours.

I've not long scrubbed my hands after cleaning up cat sick. I get fed up getting up and down to let them in and out of the house. I get pissed off with having to throw away perfectly good food from their bowls because it has been down half an hour and they want fresh. I get annoyed when they ignore their cat station with its claw thingmebob and instead insist on ruining the furniture.I hate them bringing alive and dead "gifts" into the house. I get pissed off when I wake up with one of them having their arse in my face.
But we love them all the same. I get your loss mate.

We've got two, 13 and 14 years, love 'em to bits. They're healthy but they are slowing down a bit. I can't imagine how I'd feel in your situation, honestly can't bear to think of it. My condolences and I'll raise a tin of tuna for the lost one.

People dont understand just how hard it is to lose an animal, when I lost my beloved lab I grieved for months and I still cant think about him without a teary eye.

So sorry for your loss Goatwack, and what an adorable cat she was, a cute little pumpkin. The only thing that inspires me to write poetry is the loss of a cat - have lost 6 cats over the years and it's devastating every time. I'll raise a glass on her having a nice after-life in kitty heaven.
