Thought I'd start this thread to see if I'm the only one...
So far this year...
Microgaming... 94 deposits, total of 4330$ cashouts 2310$
RTG... 45 deposits, total of 2330$ cashouts 200$
Playtech...33 deposits, total of 1255$, cashouts 0$
Crypto...5 deposits, total of 540$, cashouts 0$
Others...12 deposits, total of 360$, cashouts 0$
Poker rooms...6 deposits, total of 900$, cashouts 3600$

Brick&Mortar...3 visits, +3200$
Last year...12 visits, +800$

Why play at online casinos? Because it's fun and easy...profitable, in my case...NOT :D
How about you? :)

Interesting topic. I love how you have documented everything. I did that for about two years and then stopped. (note to self...start documenting again) I have done better at online casinos for the last few years. I used to go to Vegas every few weeks and at that time I would have said that B&M were better. We only have Indian casinos where I live and they are not regulated the same (or at all) like Vegas/Atlantic City. So for this year I would say online has been better than my local B&M.

I never win at brick & mortar casinos, but they are a lot of fun. I've been to Biloxi and Las Vegas so far this year and lost about $800 total.

Online I've done very well.

my 2 cents

B&M casinos kill me but they are all Indian casinos around me and their payout percentages suck big time. On-lines have been a bit better but not much. I got really lucky when I first started playing on-line. Hit JP on Couch Potato and Cool Buck within the same week playing with big welcome deposit bonuses thru Platinum Play and Lucky Nugget. Cashed out some decent amounts back then. However, the last year and a half or so has been crap win wise. Dribs and drabs here and there. I am even getting sick of my favorite RTG casino - iNetBet. Slots are sooooo stinking tight it's ridiculous.
Fruit Frenzy over 25,000 -- Dollar Derby over 15,000 ?? Goes to show you how tight they really are. Then when a rarer than hens teeth bonus round finally shows up, the payout is ludicrous. Am I griping, whining, and complaining? Yeppers. But my life is boring, my husband makes me want to commit murder, and menopause has done me no favors. Perhaps, as per my usual, I am overreacting but I still think on-line casinos have taken most of us for a ride the last year or so.

I can smoke my cigars at B&M.
Divorce city if I did that at home.

Results from wagering at B&M vs online are about the same.
However the B&M comps add several $000 a year,

Way ahead at B&M casinos here...free $300 rooms weekly/monthly, food, casino money WITHOUT T&C's :D . Lots of comps without T&c's   A tad behind at the online casinos.

Love how you broke down the issues...reminder to self....Start keeping track too!

I do better online and that's not saying much LOL .
I think online I am about even whereas if I broke even at a land that would be a good night .

B&M: Money-wise, down a bit, but all the comps (suites, booze, food, money -- NO WR!!) put me up overall. One of my trips last year, just before leaving, I collected $150 in cash back from points earned. They didn't even lock the doors and make me stay to wager it. I felt as if I were sneaking off with the silverware...

What I like about B&M: The sounds, the smells, the food, the gambling, the pillowtop mattresses ...

Online: I'm waaaaay down for this year, losing my profits from the last 2 years. (It's not nearly as much fun anymore.)

What I like about online gambling: I can gamble in my pajamas. And I don't have to drive 6+ hours and miss 4 days work. And I used to be able to cash out on a pretty regular basis. I never worried about my NETeller going dry. That was then...

great thread...i play for entertainment only. win or lose i really dont care and thats the truth. online is great for "feedin the need" but i am treated like a king in vegas and atlantic city so i make it a point to get to a brick and morter at least twice a month. smoking a fat cigar, drinking top shelf on the house, and nothing beats a hot shave with a strait razor when someone does it for you. b&m all the way baby!

Unless you are playing at multiplayer tables(excluding poker), it seems that you handle games/venues where there is interaction with other people much better than relying on pure luck. Frankly, I wouldnt hope to meet you in a poker game, ergopro.

Neither would I. From the last CM tourney "Hes SO aggressive" LOL. I can tell hes a very good player just from that 1 tourney

Anyway I play online (Mostly poker) with a single aim to win money. At B&Ms I play (Mostly BJ and craps) to get drunk and enjoy myself and maybe win big if im lucky that night!! I find live poker really slow and boring at times especially fixed limit which is my game.

It seems most of the people enjoy B&M...which is no wonder if you consider the social aspect of it and the atmosphere...What I've noticed is, that if I had a long dry period before, I kinda lost the interest with online casinos for a week or two...These days after opening a casino software I mostly start to think that what's the point of watching those damn reels spin or those card being dealt. I'd say that I would've hit a jackpot if I put aside all those 45cent and 2.25$ bets to a glass bottle every time I decided to open up my puter and give it a few spins...Yes, there's some sort of thrill and excitement of possibly hitting something big...but even if I didn't win anything from a B&M casino, I'd still be enjoying myself with a few drinks, listening to a bad piano player and possibly eating some good food- I bet I'm not the only one who can say that after playing a few years, the online gaming isn't as much fun as it used to be (it still is, kinda)...it's just like that new fancy thing that later became a bad habit :D Still, I want my 5scatters

How much do you need lose to get this sort of treatment?

I have found online casinos extremely generous. I use my online profits to pay for my trips to Las Vegas. Btw, for those who claim that there are no T&C for land based casino comps, I know of at least one case where a gambler wanted to use his already earned comps for a non-gambling trip to Vegas with his wife and he was told he would have to gamble at his usual rate, otherwise he would have to pay the full rate for the room.

Brick&Mortar all the way baby. I live in Atlanta and the nearest Brick&Mortar besides North Carolina which is Video (Online Gaming) is Mississippi. I promised my wife to save all my money from deposits would have been made via online. And we drive 6 hours to Mississippi twice a month. I've been online gaming since '98 and its has gotten bad. I for once loved Brick&Mortar the atmosphere is A-1.

+s/-s

Online casinos: Plus - convience
Online casinos: Minus - convience!!

B&M casinos: Plus - More fun, no WRs, instant payouts
B&M casinos: Minus - commute to and from, smoking, obnoxious players

Overall, both are losers in the end. I have no luck at all online for two years or so now. I only play bodog anymore, but it is futile as well. Good site, just never ever win anything. I'm thinking about chucking them too of late. I really get a kick out of all you virtuous people out there who say they only play for fun!! You must like the agony of defeat if your idea of fun is losing! Noone plays strictly for fun, some people have the money to just throw away I guess, but not most of us!!

There has always been misconceptions about how players really get considered for VIP treatment, believe me on this one, it absolutely does not matter how much you lose or win......what a casino really looks at is your playthru (rollover) amounts and also your total time spent on the rollover per session (grind time).....you can verify this with any seasoned VIP Host or a Casino Manager.

Example of this would be say I go into a casino with $8K-$10K of my own money and have really bad luck and lose $8K - $10K in a five hour period and you go into the same casino and have some good luck with your $1K - $2k that you take in and you have some decent wins on some slot machines and you are able to play for lets say 10 - 12 hours that day. Then the casino would see in their system that you had actually rolled over $22K or so thru the machines, then you would get the VIP treatment instead of me, even though I had brought a lot more of my own money than you had into the casino.

All junket trips are like that too.

You don't need to lose to get that kind of treatment. They just want you to stay and play at their casino. One year I went to the Venetian 10 times. I played an average of 10+ hours a day on .25 VP. I get all the same things RobWin spoke of. On my win/loss statement it read that I had put $450,000 through the machines! I usually take no more than $800-1000 to play with. I would usually win or go back even. In one slot tournament I won 1st and 2nd place for a total of $19,000. That was my biggest win. They really are just looking for an average of 4 hours of play each day of your stay. That is why it is so important to get a host. They make it all happen...anything you want. Even for the low rollers. It is true that to recieve your 'normal' treatment they expect your normal style of play.

Totally agree Venetian, you absolutely have to have a Host...
