An excellent post Andy, duly thanked
dunover is juxtaposing the hardcore AWP addict with the casual chilled out online casino punter, which is a very unfair comparison.
Of course there are folks out there who are horribly addicted to AWPs to the exclusion of just about everything else, but then again there are folks similarly addicted to online casinos who would cut just as tragic a figure were we to write an emotionally-charged deconstruction of their existence.
For me the AWPs are a once weekly or bi-weekly diversion for two or three hours on a Sunday afternoon. I run Mrs Chopley and Chopley Jnr up to the in-laws after lunch, have a cup of tea and a chat, fix whatever things have managed to confuse them on their laptop that week (old people and computers

), and then run back into town, park the car up at the house and have a pleasant walk around town for a few scoops and a bit of a punt on the AWPs, focusing on the ones I have the decent information on.
(I really can't stress enough what a cosy little seaside town I live in, you can walk from one side to the other in less than ten minutes.)
As I've been drinking in the pubs around here for the best part of twenty years I don't get any aggro, there are a few local folks I know who I may well strike up a conversation with, and since these are the same pubs that I drink in socially with friends and also go for a meal with Mrs Chopley on a day off or whatever, I'm known as a regular customer.
In short, I get to have a walk around a gorgeous little seaside town, enjoy a few pints of quality bitter (the local brew) or maybe lager (depending on my mood, I'm a fan of Pernoni on draught) in friendly pubs, I get to scratch my gambling itch -
I effectively get handsomely paid for doing so, and I'm home in time for tea.
Doesn't sound like such a bad deal to me.
